This is a family friendly spot with tasty barbecue. Unfortunately, we had a sub-par experience on Father's day that we hope was an aberration. We will go back - and hope we will have our usual good experience with food and service.

After another restaurant cancelled on my reservations for my birthday dinner, I was lucky enough to find out one of my favorite bbq spots in SF had availability for a party of 15.

Our waitress was awesome. Super down to earth, funny and provided great service. We ordered our food and it came out pretty quick and, as always, it was delicious.

Most of my friends had never been to Baby Blue BBQ, and they were all left amazed at how good it was.

Thanks for being an awesome establishment and if people want great bbq, this is the place to go.

Everything we ordered was very tasty and of the highest quality. My husband has celiac disease, so avoiding gluten is very important. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and helped us navigate the menu so that everything we ordered would be safe for him.

We come here often. But tonight the meat was exceptional good and tasty. I could really taste the deep smoke in the ribs. Delicious!

Good food but I suspect slow service is the reason for lack of clientele. Waitress never showed so the bartender served us drinks and food.

Delicious barbecue meats and sides. I would recommend the brisket, mac and cheese, collard greens and bread pudding.

Been here several times for a variety of occasions. Always a good time! In a city that boasts all kinds of foods, BBQ is hard to find. But, Baby Blues got you covered. They're for real, they started from just a trailer BBQ that you can see at the competitions. Every time we go, maybe we order too much of the good food, but we always end up walking out with to go boxes, which makes for an excellent lunch during the week.

Wait staff was extremely nice and obliging - especially when confronted with a dish that was overly salty - the brisket needed to go back to the kitchen - stay way from it. Best bet is baby back ribs and sides were good.

Fantastic place - we were quite happy to find this spot. We had dinner with our toddler (there is also a little play area) who was also very content here. The portions are huge, the meat super tasty, the sauces added a great kick (favorites were the hotsauce and the molasses). Would visit again if we didn't live on the other side of the world :)

Coming from the South probably shouldn't have tried the BBQ in San Francisco, but the ribs were good and sauces were interesting. Didn't care for many of the "sides" which is about half the reason for a good BBQ place, but we will keep trying!

I've been looking for the best ribs for a long time, and I can honestly say that the baby back ribs here are the best! I don't even live nearby, but I keep coming back for more...

As for the sides, I've only had the mac and cheese here, but that's definitely also yummy!

I love eating at Baby Blues BBQ. A very fun atmosphere (lively, but you can still have a conversation), the staff is incredibly friendly (seriously, the nicest folks in SF), and the food is outstanding (the ribs are literally finger-licking good). I like to go with a few others so I can dine family style to have a bit of everything. This place is a gem for sure.

The bbq was excellent! Service was good, highly recommend their Memphis ribs, baby back ribs and corned beef. We also tried their pulled pork French fries.

Only thing negative in our dining experience was that there was a man that had a little much to drink and was a hit loud. But he didn't bother anyone. The staff gently asked him to keep it down which was good and we were able to enjoy our meal.

Highly recommend it!

I would order takeout or have Baby Blues catered but wouldn't dine in again.
Absolutely nothing about the place is pleasant, except for the food.

Went here on a Friday night. They were experimenting with 1st Friday live entertainment. Place was busy, but my party of five immediately found a table due to the poor weather outside. Nice beer and wine selection. I ordered the Three Kings combo plate, which came with Memphis ribs, smoked chicken and shredded brisket. For the side I chose their mac n cheese. Food arrived in 15-20 minutes. Everything was excellent! The ribs were nicely seasoned and cooked perfectly, the chicken had a very mild smoke flavor and was moist and tender, and the brisket was delicious! Their mac n cheese is awesome. I'd cook it at home if I knew what was in it! The live entertainment was a big hit with the crowd, although it did make for a noisy restaurant. Baby Blues BBQ is a total gem and has the feel of a great neighborhood hangout for friends and family! I highly recommend this place to locals and tourists alike. The portions are large, the food is reasonably priced and cooked perfectly, and the wait staff is attentive and pleasant!

Fabulous. Kids loved it. Adults love it. Great for family. The food was perfect. You can use as little or as much sauce as you want. Staff was perfect. We had a blast. Root beer was a huge hit. Will definitely be back.

Fun, old-fashioned barbecue in a modern setting. The food was great with a much appreciated attention to the sides, which often get short shrift. I particularly enjoyed the collard greens and the mac and cheese. The space itself was was warm with beautiful wood counters. The service was friendly and accommodating. An altogether pleasant experience that will have you wanting to come back for more.

Our family lives in the neighborhood and were so happy to have a good bbq restaurant right on our doorstep, and have been there frequently since it opened. We have been used to waiting for a table on busy nights and didn't mind because the food was always worth the wait, however on our two most recent visits we were disappointed with the food and entire experience.
The food took an unusually long time to arrive even though on both occasions there were less than half the tables occupied, and when it did arrive all our meals were lukewarm and the meats dry. The service was lackluster, and we didn't feel at all welcome like we always have in the past.
Hoping this is a temporary downturn as it used to be such a treasure.

Tried a number of items on the menu - smoked chicken wings, badass meatballs, Memphis ribs, pulled pork, hot link and sliced beef brisket. Sides were creamed spinach and coleslaw. The wings, brisket and pulled pork and slaw are good - the meatballs, ribs, hot link and creamed spinach are very good. Great BBQ sauces on the table - waiters suggested mix of the habanero and sweet was fantastic. Given that San Fran isn't a BBQ destination I'd give this place an A for effort. Excellent service and a cool joint. Would definitely return.

The food is always good, but the noise when busy makes normal conversation almost impossible. My parents (in their 80s) prefer it to the more fashionable restaurants that we often go to--despite the noise. If you don't mind repeating yourself or near-shouting through your meal, there's every reason to enjoy this eatery. Did I mention how loud it is? :)

Have eaten at Baby Blues in Philadelphia many times. My absolute favorite BBQ joint. And I'm from Virginia. They don't have a freezer and they don't have a microwave. I'm told that a few guys from PA went West (probably not looking for gold) and brought their BBQ skills with them opening up a restaurant in SF and two in LA before coming back home to open up one in Philly. So I thought I would try the SF location. I was not disappointed. start off with the smoked wings ask for either plain or "sweet kick". More about that in a minute. Ribs and brisket are great. Family debates Memphis vs baby back; I suggest trying both. If you want to go for it try a Texas rib (it's Fred Flintstone size). It might be too fatty or expensive for some, but great flavor. The cornbread is the best I have ever had (if it is too dry ask for another piece), and the creamed spinach is awesome (ask my kids). But the key to this place is the sauces. Skip the two middle ones and only go for the sweet and the XXX. I am a hot guy but the sweet is so good. So you mix the two to your preferred heat level. Everyone can enjoy. But you gotta mix the two, even if you are a heat wimp, because the XXX really does bring great flavor. The "sweet kick" on the wings is a mixture of the two aforementioned sauces. Well, there you have it. Oh, they also have some nice craft draft beers, but this seems to be the norm in CA. Enjoy.

Had a Saturday night dinner with my son at Baby Blues on a busy night. The staff were friendly and attentive despite it being a very busy night. The ribs (we tried both the baby back and memphis style long ribs) were excellent-- flavorful, almost but not quite fall-off-the-bone tender. The veggie sides (we had spinach and greens) and corn bread were outstanding. Serving sizes were generous. The decor is Texas-roadhouse with long benches and bar seating. It was a bit loud for casual conversation but still tolerable. Overall an enjoyable experience and I will come back.

We had a big group so the kitchen delivered a couple of Beggar's Banquet platters. EVERYTHING on that plate was fantastic, but the beef ribs were a standout. We also loved the brisket and the mac and cheese.

Baby Blue's is at the top of my list for SF eats. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting. The wine list is great and the BBQ is some if the best I've had on the west coast. The shrimp app is a great starter. Family favorites are the 3 little piggies, pork belly salad, and the big blue. Don't miss the banana pudding!

I visited Baby Blues BBQ as part of a birthday party I had planned for a fairly large group (~20 people, over the course of the evening). Based on RSVPs, I initially made a reservation for 10 people, but several people replied that they would be joining very late (the day before, in some cases). I called Baby Blues BBQ to see if I could expand the reservation. They initially didn't see the OpenTable reservation because those are only visible the day of the visit, but when I told them my situation, the manager was very quick to book me a larger table that could accommodate up to 18 people, and she told me not to worry if a few more straggled in over the course of the meal (which did end up happening).

Concerning the food, it was very simple to order for a large group, since they have pre-made meals to feet different-sized groups. I was worried a few vegetarians in the party would have trouble finding something they could enjoy at a BBQ place, but the sides were scrumptious (as was the BBQ, but I expected that). I'm not a foodie myself, but am definitely a fan of BBQ, and I'd happily go to this place again in a heartbeat.

In short, great service, great food, relatively affordable prices (~$30 per person, not counting drinks), and a very lively ambiance. Worth checking out.

I would not call myself a ribs expert, but had one of the best meals I can remember in a LONG time on my first visit to this place with a friend who had been there before and loves it. Save room for dessert though. The bread pudding is out of control. And Dolly the waitress was a real doll. Loved it.

Read so many rave reviews about the Baby Blue BBQ. Decided to venture out to the Outer Mission since I love BBQ.
It is a very causal place, almost too causal. Most of the customers must be regulars. They are kind of self service and the servers presume you know what do you want to order. She was shocked when we asked for the menu. Then she disappeared for quite awhile. Silverware and napkins are in the can so it is self serving.
The food is decent but not memorable. The ribs are not tender enough that the meat will detach from the bones when you bite them. The brisket is too fatty. Turn out the server was very nice and friendly. She came to check us out and make sure we have enough beer once we get used to the causal service environment.
