We went to BToo because we love Belgian food. The frites/fritjes were good, but not very close to really authentic Belgian fries. The mussels were excellent! The waffle and chicken and the pulled pork waffle were also excellent.
Make certain that the gluten-free among you check closely for cross-contamination in the fries. Seems as though they are fried with gluten-containing foods like the doffle (which is also great).
Just another Sunday brunch. Food was delicious and cost was as expected. The restaurant was bustling and tables are quite close together making it difficult to hear at times. The atmosphere would never keep me from coming here as the food is totally worth it!
Always a pleasure!!!!
Food and service were
The mussels are great!
B Too can be hit or miss. Definitely a miss this time
Great food and ambiance however our waitress was less than impressive. Very rude and didn’t check up on us throughout the evening. Will be reconsidering where I dine in the future.
Overall for a mussels place, I was served really bad mussels—fishy and tough. I didn’t eat them as I thought they’d make me sick. The wait staff was not overly concerned.
Really delightful place. Loved the menu choices, the food we ordered, the service. Glad we went there.
Nothing quite special, everything was just okie.
If you are looking for flavorful, delicious mussels this is your spot. The Brussels Mussels are a favorite, served in a rich lobster broth complete with a lobster tail, plus plenty of fries for dipping! Interesting cocktails and a nice wine list
great food and service at the true to it roots Belgian restaurant!
My friends and I enjoy B Too for the ambience and food on Saturday mornings before we go to usher at Studio Theater. They have yummy brunch offerings and mimosas.
B Too had memorable food (spicy waffles!) and our server was welcoming and attentive. The server was aware that it was my husband's birthday based on my comments on my online reservation form and brought champagne at the end of our meal, which was appreciated. The ambience was much different than we anticipated based on the photos online. There was less lighting than expected and the vibe of the restaurant was difficult to identify. Although we were the only ones seated in our area, the space was crowded and we had a front row seat to (some of) the staff eating food straight from the open kitchen. Overall it was a positive experience but we don't plan on returning.
The fries were only warm and the quality of the filet was not in line with the price of it.
Great service, excellent coffee and very fresh bread, super beer/wine/spirits list, and wonderful food. Look forward to a return visit. The cornbread pulled pork waffle, topped with eggs, was particularly amazing. We had an early weekday lunch, which was lovely and quiet and very relaxing.
Great atmosphere and food. Not my first visit but my date enjoyed it as we try our way through all the joints in DC serving mussels. Yes, we’re addicted but there could be worse things!
Our table was jammed in between two large parties. We had little room to move and it was near impossible to hear one another. When our neighbors got up from the table I had buttcheeks in my face. The server was initially attentive but forgot about us midway through the meal.
The restaurant was quite busy so I get it to a degree but we had reservations and were sort of shoehorned into this space that was entirely too tight for our table. I won’t be back.
Very nice menu with both new surprises and older menu favorites!!
Beautiful interior and super yummy food!! The waffles were really delicious!!
Went for the Restaurant Week special. The banana matcha shake was delicious and the big donut with the ham, egg, and cheese inside and bacon on top was different and also delicious. The desert waffle was sad. It came too early and was cold and soft by the time I was ready to eat it and it really didn't have any flavor. The green top was on one of the strawberries and I don't like that. Service was very good. It was a nice place, but not exceptional. Vegan friend had few options.
First time there, and had a terrific experience. We arrived for our reservation and was seated immediately. Our server was friendly and welcoming. It was a Saturday night, and the place was packed - very popular restaurant for a good reasons: craft cocktails, nice wine list, lots of appetizer and small options, steamed mussels in 3 styles (as any Belgian themed restaurant should offer), proper portion sizes, great chocolate dessert (and I'm a chocolatier, so I'm pretty picky in this arena), and an energetic positive atmosphere. If you're looking for a quiet spot to eat, this is NOT the place - it has an open kitchen concept. But, noise won't keep me from returning.
Always a delight!!!!
Excellent service and food. The staff went out of their way to accommodate our infant so that we could have a comfortable dinner out with her, recognizing that it’s not easy to enjoy a nice meal out with an infant. We were very impressed.
The staff was very friendly and the location great; however, the food was very heavy, soggy, and unappetizing. Many of the dishes seemed like the chef just wanted to put as many "hip" items on one plate as possible, without thinking about the balance or taste of the item.
Good but the service was mediocre
My friends and I enjoyed BToo's restaurant week menu on Thursday night. Our appetizers included wild mushroom waffles, octopus, steak tartare, and fried duck bitter balls. All outstanding with blasts of flavour. I ordered the grilled branzino as my main course and enjoyed its delicious yet light taste. For dessert, go for the Dame Blanche Snowman!
Meat was chewy and tasteless, food was terribly under seasoned, and desserts lacked balance.
Overall we were incredibly disappointed in the experience and we had no bang for our buck.
Delightful menu. Roasted mussels and octopus brussels sprouts were exceptional. Nice wine list as well.
Restaurant Week is often not the best measure of a restaurant, but it's the only one I've had at B Too. Much of the service staff spent the evening racing through the dining room, and I was bumped into more than once since my chair was near the main aisle past the kitchen (as were people at other tables around me). That aisle is so narrow that servers frequently had to dance to get by each other with stacks of dishes or plates to be delivered, and I witness a few near misses.
Our server was great, and we did not report any problems while we were there, in part because my friend and I were enjoying each other's company and didn't want to have to mess up the kitchen's timing or wait for new food while the other person's food got cold. Maybe we should have, but we're just not 'send it back' people.
We ordered sparkling water, but TWICE servers (not OUR server) stopped at our table and topped off our glasses (which were not empty) with still/tap water- completely ignoring the giant bottle of sparking water on the table. If they'd even asked before pouring, it could've been prevented. After the second time they brought us a new bottle of sparkling water, which we later noticed that we were charged for. Should've brought it up to our server, but didn't.
My mushroom waffle appetizer had cooled by the time it hit the table (not warm at all) but his salmon waffles were warm (I hadn't cut into it until after we were asked how everything was and thought maybe it was intended to be room temp? Would've been better warm). His steak was also not particularly warm, but my pork entree was. Desserts were great, atmosphere was great. My friend really likes Belga Cafe and I used to work in a Belgian bistro, so maybe our expectations were set too high for a visit during Restaurant Week.
