My friend bit a piece of metal that was in his mussels, he almost broke his teeth! It was the piece of metal used to seal the bag of mussels. The Manager dealt with the issue very well but still, it was an unpleasant experience. My food was good and the service as well.
Went to dinner with a group of 12 people. The service staff was wonderful and patient. The food itself was all great and came out promptly after ordering considering how many of us there were. The beer and wine selection is great. I will warn that if you're looking for an inexpensive group option this may not be the right place for you. The rabbit stew & short rib stew were table favorites, the tartare as a starter was great and a generous portion. We also started with orders of frites for the table which came out quickly to a hungry table.
enjoyed it a lot — service and atmosphere were warm and welcoming.
Cornbread and pulled pork waffles were very yummy. Cool atmosphere.
Menu is creative. Service was excellent. Tartare was fresh and distinctive. Mussels were excellent. Will go back again.
Eclectic menu with a great beer menu and very good service.
I never like it when there are fake votive candles at a Bistro. Otherwise this place was fine. The service was very sweet and friendly. It was a bit harried for a Sunday 1 p.m. brunch meal..
Be sure you share the mussels order. They were gigantic and plentiful.
Nice enough place.
I was with a larger group (6) and we were excited B Too could accommodate us for a spur of the moment dinner. However, the experience left much to be desired. The food was disappointing - some dishes were cold, some over-cooked, the highly recommended mussels were inedible. I don't think anyone finished their meal, I only had a few bites of mine. I was surprised, when the server came to take the plates that she didn't ask if anything was wrong given the fact that so little food was consumed. That said, our server was polite and attentive, which is one reason we decided not to initially complain about the food. Since most of us didn't eat our meals, we ordered a dessert, which arrived cold, hard and stale. When the check came, the only thing we requested was that the dessert, which also remained unconsumed, be removed from the bill. The server seemed totally taken aback by the request and conferred with her manager before removing the charge from the bill. I was also surprised, since we were clearly displeased with our meal that the manager did not come by the table to check on our experience. As indicated on the menu, a 20% gratuity was included. On our way out of the restaurant, I mentioned our disappointment to the manager who was very nice and offered to comp us an appetizer on our next trip in. Unfortunately, I don't think I will be returning to B Too.
eclectic ambiance, good traditional Belgium food, wonderful presentation of food
I took a friend to lunch for her birthday because she was drawn to the prix fixe lunch menu but both of us ordered off the regular menu. Her mussels, which I sampled, were excellent, among the best I've ever eaten, and my roasted salmon sandwich was perfectly prepared. Desserts were wonderful. The Belgian waffle with strawberries came with a surprising little glass of Belgian chocolate for dribbling. I had been here once before with a larger group in the evening, when it was considerably more crowded and noisy than at 1 PM, with only a couple of tables of businessmen competing. But both times the food and service were excellent.
Would recommend this restaurant to anyone! Was by far the most impeccable service and food that we had while in DC. Great for groups or just for a date, an amazing ambiance and menu. Definitely will be going back.
Great dinner with friends. My only complaint was that it was a bit too hot in the restaurant, but that was probably because we were seated right next to the open kitchen.
B too is always a good experience!
The service was great and the waffles were to die for. I've never had such a light and airy waffle, and their quiche was fabulous with puffed pastry and a perfectly dressed salad. I will be back!
A very cool vibe and the tables with couches were a great touch! The food was spectacular with plenty of options for everyone.
Honestly the brunch alcohol was bad, but the bacon and chicken were good. Service was excellent.
Went here on a whim to avoid boring hotel food. Found it to be nice and the food was good [though I limited my choices to less heavy offerings- not many btw] and so it was ok. Pleasant staff but experience was rushed like a cheap chinese restaurant.
Solid brunch, but they were out of several key items, including bacon and the chicken and waffles
Everything was fantastic! We will definitely return. Chicken and waffles had just the right spice with the jalapenos. Cornbread waffles and pulled pork was delicious!
We were delighted to discover B Too as an open-early (ish - 1000) brunch option in the city! Snagged a reservation for 5 for right as they opened, so we were greeted and seated promptly. The servers were attentive right away, but as the restaurant filled it became harder to get someone 'round. That said, we really only had to ask for coffee/water refills once - they usually were passing us frequently and offering refills. The food is hearty and interesting - the green eggs mcwaffle was a big hit, and the brussels sprouts are divine. The Flemish stew was fairly flavorless though, which was the second disappointment of the morning - the first was the "doffle" (doughnut-waffle) that we ordered early to appease the children's appetite while we waited. I don't know what I expected, but the dough in the doffle was very heavy, and the ratio of sugar to dough seemed a bit off. Basically, a heavy, chewy, fried object.
However, the many menu options and fun experience overall will have us coming back!
Their waffles are the best! I usually go with the savory waffles paired with a side of brussel sprouts, however the sweet options are just as good.
Desserts are the best! I would recommend going there to eat their delicious dopples and chocolate eden. The rest of the food is average, but the desserts are really great.
We went to BToo because we love Belgian food. The frites/fritjes were good, but not very close to really authentic Belgian fries. The mussels were excellent! The waffle and chicken and the pulled pork waffle were also excellent.
Make certain that the gluten-free among you check closely for cross-contamination in the fries. Seems as though they are fried with gluten-containing foods like the doffle (which is also great).
Just another Sunday brunch. Food was delicious and cost was as expected. The restaurant was bustling and tables are quite close together making it difficult to hear at times. The atmosphere would never keep me from coming here as the food is totally worth it!
Always a pleasure!!!!
Food and service were
The mussels are great!
B Too can be hit or miss. Definitely a miss this time
Great food and ambiance however our waitress was less than impressive. Very rude and didn’t check up on us throughout the evening. Will be reconsidering where I dine in the future.
Overall for a mussels place, I was served really bad mussels—fishy and tough. I didn’t eat them as I thought they’d make me sick. The wait staff was not overly concerned.
Really delightful place. Loved the menu choices, the food we ordered, the service. Glad we went there.
Nothing quite special, everything was just okie.
If you are looking for flavorful, delicious mussels this is your spot. The Brussels Mussels are a favorite, served in a rich lobster broth complete with a lobster tail, plus plenty of fries for dipping! Interesting cocktails and a nice wine list
great food and service at the true to it roots Belgian restaurant!
My friends and I enjoy B Too for the ambience and food on Saturday mornings before we go to usher at Studio Theater. They have yummy brunch offerings and mimosas.
B Too had memorable food (spicy waffles!) and our server was welcoming and attentive. The server was aware that it was my husband's birthday based on my comments on my online reservation form and brought champagne at the end of our meal, which was appreciated. The ambience was much different than we anticipated based on the photos online. There was less lighting than expected and the vibe of the restaurant was difficult to identify. Although we were the only ones seated in our area, the space was crowded and we had a front row seat to (some of) the staff eating food straight from the open kitchen. Overall it was a positive experience but we don't plan on returning.
The fries were only warm and the quality of the filet was not in line with the price of it.
Great service, excellent coffee and very fresh bread, super beer/wine/spirits list, and wonderful food. Look forward to a return visit. The cornbread pulled pork waffle, topped with eggs, was particularly amazing. We had an early weekday lunch, which was lovely and quiet and very relaxing.
Great atmosphere and food. Not my first visit but my date enjoyed it as we try our way through all the joints in DC serving mussels. Yes, we’re addicted but there could be worse things!
Our table was jammed in between two large parties. We had little room to move and it was near impossible to hear one another. When our neighbors got up from the table I had buttcheeks in my face. The server was initially attentive but forgot about us midway through the meal.
The restaurant was quite busy so I get it to a degree but we had reservations and were sort of shoehorned into this space that was entirely too tight for our table. I won’t be back.
