Byrd Cookie Company fka B TILLMAN - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
We had a very nice lunch before a big day of Christmas shopping. The restaurant is beautiful, the food was delicious, and we were anxious to make a reservation for dinner the following weekend. However, we were informed they no longer serve dinner, only lunch and the restaurant would be changing quite a bit... We were sad to hear this....
We happened upon this place as we came into town without a dinner reservation on a busy weekend. They had availability, so we snapped it up. It was pretty empty when we got there and I was a little nervous, but B. Tillman's was very good!! All of my friends raved about the food, and the staff was super accommodating.
This was our first time at B Tillman, and we will be coming back. The service was excellent, the menu was interesting, and the dishes we ordered were very tasty and perfectly executed. I had the braised pork ribs and they melted in my mouth. My husband had the fisherman's stew with shrimp and mussels - he was very impressed with the flavors, and mopped up every bit of sauce with the bread from the table. It was a very enjoyable evening out.
This restaurant was by far the BEST part of our trip to Savannah. We stumbled across it on Open Table and when we pulled up to the restaurant/bakery, we had no idea what to expect. The facility is gorgeous and well decorated. The food was out of this world amazing! We still talk about our entrée choices and wish we could go back every night to try something different. The Manager was present at the time and he overheard us talking about the Bakery. After dinner, he led us into the bakery (currently closed for the day), and opened up the gift shop for us where we could sample the cookies and shop for gifts for our family. It was completely unexpected and the experience will never be forgotten. The Manager also made me a non-alcoholic fruit punch when he learned that I was expecting. I have no idea how someone could make fruit punch taste so amazing, but it was delicious! The server was wonderful, she knew the entire menu and helped with our questions. Our experience was a breath of fresh air, I will go back to Savannah just to go to this restaurant again, it was AMAZING!
We were visiting historic downtown Savannah, but looking for something different for my husband's birthday dinner and found B. Tillman's. So glad we did! It makes an awesome first impression, is impeccably decorated, and a very cool front to the Byrd cookie business, but the food gives this place even more substance. Each dish that came out was not only beautifully served, but delicious! Don't forget to ask for the bread!
We always enjoy our experience at B. Tillman. The food is good and the management and workers are very nice. Since we live in Mid-town, it is a great location for us. We often invite friends to dine with us. However, if we can suggest one improvement, the service is getting to be slower than before, especially on a recent Sunday when it appeared that the servers or the chef were overwhelmed.
B Tillman was actually our 4th choice (based solely on geography) but 1-3 were fully booked... and aren't we glad they were. The food was exceptional, the wait staff and ownership were efficient and more than cordial... all at the expense of an 8 minute drive from the Historic District. I would recommend without reservation (no pun).
Eating late (8:30PM), we had the restaurant to ourselves. The staff could not have been more helpful; the menu selections were limited but many seemed interesting. We had the hanger steak (regular menu) and a fish special -- both were very flavorful. Portions were not huge but quite adequate. In all, a very pleasant stop.
My husband and I come to Savannah to have our cars serviced. We usually take the opportunity to have lunch somewhere while waiting for the car maintenance to be completed. Picked this place since the reviews were good. Nice open contemporary setting, friendly wait staff. Had the tacos (shrimp, carnitas, fish - 1 of each), husband had chicken fettuccine. Both dishes were excellent. They also gave us a few Byrd cookies to try; liked them so we ended up buying 4 bags of cookies after lunch at the cookie store next door.
Would definitely return next time we are in Savannah!
My husband and I had Easter Sunday brunch here. We had 3 appetizers and 2 entrees. Everything was perfectly prepared with quality ingredients. Delicious! The chef even came to our table to introduce herself and see if we liked our food. The service was fantastic too. We can't wait to go back!
The staff was friendly, attentive, yet not overly attentive. Service was most professional, food was excellent. The Airline Chicken is, to me, their signature dish. It is always good. Dessert was their homemade cookie and ice cream sandwhich - one word for that - YUM!!!!!
I needed a quiet place to have a meeting, a place with no parking hassles and a place to impress a colleague from out of town. B. Tillman never disappoints. The food is delicious with a great presentation. They just need to have more than one server working the tables. Service can be slow.
The menu offers variety and our selections were very good. I especially like the sweet potato casserole with nice spice and crunchy glaze on top. The bar is not fully stocked for afterdinner drinks and I was dissapointed that no Byrd cookies were served with dessert - maybe they come with coffee? The interior was inviting and table arrangment comfortable. Service was very friendly.
B. Tillman sits in the corner of an unassuming shopping center, located along a main road, away from the historic district. Don't let the exterior or the location fool you. The interior is cozy and inviting, with roomy leatherette booths and nice lighting. The menu was a mixture of the familiar and the innovative.
There is an attractive bar with a great selection of beers and mixed drinks. The bartender made really good Bloody Marys!
My husband had one of the nightly specials, consisting of a three-course meal that started a steamed mussels, cruised through grouper over grits, and ended with Crème Brule. I had every intention of following suit, before I saw the grass-fed angus burger with bacon, home-made pimento cheese, and a fried green tomato. My burger came with hand-cut french-fries and was the answer to my dreams on a cold, rainy night.
B. Tillman shares space with the family-owned, famous Byrd's Cookie Factory and, although, sadly, the cookie factor does not operate at night, the smell of delicious cookies permeated the restaurant and motivated us to return, later in our visit, to buy some to take home for friends.
We will definitely put this one on our list to visit when we return to Savannah.
We we were staying overnight near Savannah and I happened to find a good review for B Tillman and it looked interesting. The food was delicious. We shared a spinach salad and a mushroom appetizer. I had the shrimp fettucine and my husband had the chicken. We enjoyed everything. The service was fabulous and friendly. Then they opened the cookie shop and we sampled cookies for desert and bought gift bags for the various people we were going to visit.
Had not been here in a very long time and it was surprisingly good. Very inviting decor, fabulous staff, and good food. My husband loved his burger and fries. I tried the salmon...could have had more flavor but overall good. Very nice wines by the glass. But the inviting atmosphere and great service made it a wonderful experience.
I was in town for a running event and decided to get away from downtown Savannah for dinner. When I walked in the restaurant was not too crowded but tables were situated such that even if it had been packed, we would not be on top on one another. Everything I ordered was fantastic including the fried green tomatoes-bestter than moms, or darn close.
Service was friendly and outstanding. Did not try anything on drink menu but old fashion ice tea was strong and smooth!
This is my favorite restaurant in Savannah! Usually the food is outstanding, this time it was just okay. The service and the food were a little bit off that night. I got the airline chicken, which was pretty flavorless and myvegetables were salty. My friend got the salmon which he enjoyed and the spinach dip was good as well. We'll probably go back for brunch and wait till the menu changes before we visit again for dinner.
