Topped with Belgian Chicken Stew, Mushrooms, Pearl Onions
Baguette, Scrambled Eggs, Onions, Tomato, Gruyère Cheese, Avocado, Spicy Samuraï Belgian Mayonnaise, Greens, Frites
There were 3 of us for Saturday Brunch. They sat us at a nice large table on their charming back patio, which is completely shaded. The food was excellent! I had the brioche French toast. It was soft, fluffy, and had the perfect amount of crisp on the outside followed by a light dusting of powdered sugar. The berries were ripe and sweet. Not a bad berry in the bunch. It was topped with fresh whipped cream and came with legit Vermont Maple syrup on the side. The others in our party had the Classic Eggs Benedict. The eggs had beautiful bright yellow-orange yolks and were perfectly poached. The English muffins under the eggs were fresh, fluffy, with just the right amount of light toasting. The ham was thin and tender, making it very easy to cut and eat with every bite of poached egg (as Eggs Benedict should be enjoyed). It was topped with fresh made Hollendaise Sauce that was delicious and creamy. The Eggs Benedict came with decadent seasoned fries that were light and crispy on the outside and soft inside. We also enjoyed the cocktails. They were no frills, but tasted really good and were not light on alcohol. We had the Bloody Mary and Pear Tree. Our server was attentive, but not overbearing. We felt welcome to enjoy a leisurely Brunch at this busy Cafe on a Saturday.
Food was delicious but otherwise, there was nothing that stood out about our experience. They did not “check-in” on us at all unless we made eye contact (no one came by to refill the coffee or check if we needed anything). The waiter didn’t seemed to happy to be there and did not have a very friendly tone.
Took about 1 1/2 hours to get our meals. Woefully understaffed. Food was just okay. They don’t serve bread. Muscles were fair. Steak was fair. Salads were fair. Meh!
I had the chicken stew which was served with a pleasing sauce, no vegetables were mixed in. It was served with tasty French fries, with mayonnaise and ketchup as condiments on the side.
Always good food and lots of great options on the menu.
Abysmal service. Seated outside next to a standpipe on the street, while I made a reservation WEEKS ago for a seat in their beautiful garden. Took 35 minutes to get water and a cup of drip coffee. Food took a full hour to come, and was cold upon arrival. Had to literally TRIP the waiter to get them to bring the check. This place could have been so charming, but instead, it was an absolutely terrible experience. Maybe my worst NYC restaurant experience ever.
Mother's Day brunch. We selected B Cafe because of the outdoor patios and the terrific menu which appealed to our discerning group. It was a hit and we'll be back!
Good food. Nice covered outdoor setup. The service was only okay.
SLIW SERVICE- heaters not working. French toast was dry
Nicely established outdoor / backyard dining area. B. Burgers were delicious with exceptional fries. Nice selection of Belgian beers.
Outstanding food and terrific service. We will absolutely go back!
Will never return to this restaurant. We had an 830 reservation on a Saturday night. We stood in front of the hostess stand for 10+ minutes unacknowledged. The restaurant was not even half filled. When we were finally seated, we were ignored by waitstaff for more than 25 minutes, until we flagged someone down to ask if we could order. There were 2 children standing at a separate table from their family dancing and creating Tik Tok videos for most of our meal. Once our food finally showed up, our fries were cold. Then to top it off, the credit card machine did not work. Incredibly lousy service, sub-par food, and disappointing ambiance.
We waited with other people for 1 hour and 45 minutes to get our food. Nobody would acknowledge us except the waiter who kept apologizing. Finally the food came out and the mussels tasted like they were in toilet water, the burger was burnt to a crisp. The waiter took the burger back and then the kitchen was closing so never got food. Everyone outside was complaining and the manager came out and kicked everyone out and started screaming at everyone. It was disgusting.
Absolutely terrible service. It took almost 2 hours to get our food.
Disappointing compared to previous visits.
Saturday brunch for 4. Courteous service, good food and nice ambiance with table appropriately distanced.
Lousy service couldn’t get their act together to run my bill through the credit card machine - incredibly incompetent
They had 1 rose on the wine list and were out of it.
Wine list wasn’t very good small selection.
I had mussels and the sauce was like water.
Not in a hurry to return
Always a good experience.
The beer selection is great and the Croque Madame was delicious.
Burgers were dry, food wasn't good. The server wasn't very kind or helpful. The beer was good and the outside seating was nice. Won't go back.
We were there late on a Sat eve. 8:15 reservation at a time the restaurant was perhaps 2/3 full at most. The service was terrible. The waiter rarely came over, we had to request his attention from the bus staff three times during a less than 1.5 hour meal. We requested to place an order for a drink and never had the opportunity to do so and eventually gave up. One of three dinners came out incorrectly but we were reluctant to send it back given the length of time it took just to be served - so we elected not to stay for dessert- not worth it. This is unfortunate as we had previously enjoyed several nice brunches at B cafe. Finally, the bill was provided and then our credit card charged for 20% more. When we inquired about it we were reassured this was a glitch of an old system. It certainly seemed as if they were adding on a tip while also expecting us to add the tip to the written bill and seemed highly suspect. All in all, not a great experience in a city full of wonderful restaurants with fantastic service.
Had to send steak sandwich back. It was inedible. Just go for the mussels. Nice crowd and nice vibe and lovely back patio enclosed. Service a little disorganized but they tried.
This restaurant is a very special place. I go with my boyfriend for special occasions, and I finally got to bring my parents! Great food, great beer, kind staff, and just an all around lovely place to spend an evening.
I had the beef stew, which was flavorful and delicious. My sister had the chicken pot pie, which she liked very much. And the fries were quite good as well.
I was there on a Saturday night and there were only 2 servers. Not enough for the volume of guests. I asked for bread and was told that the bread was for sandwiches only because they were low on bread. I have dined here many times and had great experiences. Just not this time.
We have eaten here a few years ago and enjoyed it. This was very different. The fries were terrible. And when you hit up a Belgium restaurant fries should be a star attraction. Everyone said their meal was very mediocre. If your looking for a good casual Belgium meal look elsewhere.
Best brunch menu on upper east side!
Amazing brunch for Easter. Fabulous food!!
Lovely Easter brunch! We sat outside on their back patio. Food was delicious.
Enjoyed brunch. I highly recommend the cocktail called The Pear Tree (pear liqueur, Prosecco and vodka.) Also had egg whites with smoked salmon.
It’s a shame that the beautiful patio had to be enclosed due to the pandemic but still a great place. Great service and the food is consistently excellent.
Absolutely great dinner! Loved the mussels frite, roasted chicken and vegetarian pasta. Amazing selection of Lambic Belgian beers. Try the rare Lambic raspberry on tap, the champagne of beers!
The mussels & frites and chocolate cake were delicious.
We were excited to return to in-restaurant dining and chose one of our favorite pre-pandemic places as our first stop. Everything that was great about this place before the lockdown has somehow become better! The service and food were incredible, and the upgrades they made to the backyard patio made our experience even more enjoyable.
Another good dinner at the B. OK I WILL START BY SAYING THAT I did not have any of their amazing fries. Health reasons but I’ve decided to come back soon for my monthly fries allocation.
FOOD VOL-au-Vent( chicken) very nice
Wine: vt, CANT remember what I ordered. Pour was very good
All in all like this place. Let’s get our and support
The food was delicious as always. The outdoor patio has a nicely distanced set-up with air vents toward the roof..
The service was slow and it took close to 40 minute for our food to arrive (not the first time, in our experience, at this restaurant). The waiter returned about 25 minutes after taking our order to ask what we had ordered. Seemed he had forgotten to put it in.
Very good food but they seemed understaffed.
Seemed like they were short staffed - service was very slow. They were also out of several beers and menu items. Acoustics in back garden were terrible - very loud and there was a table of kids having a birthday party that was raucous.
Love this place the food and the staff are the best!
