B&V Whiskey Bar & Grille
We had a lovely time. Our server was very sweet and helpful. We would return!
Amazing food was so impressed
This was our first time here and we would definitely return. I did have to send an appetizer back because it was undercooked but that was ok. My sister LOVED her Venetian stew, my brother in law had the ribs and they were a bit spicy for him but the portion was huge. The fries were outstanding. I had the clams appetizer for dinner. The flavor was great but it was a bit too salty for my personal taste. Didn’t have room for dessert as we had the calamari to start and it was very good. We’ll be back for sure.
Second time eating here, had the same thing-Cowboy Cut Rib Eye medium rare-DIVINE! Had friends from Belgium in town and we all had a wonderful meal and visit. Shut the place down!
Super fun lunch with a reserved window table. Delicious meal. Best server ever. Going again asap! YUM
We went here for dinner on Mother’s Day. I had the roast chicken which was delicious and a large portion. My daughters and I shared a bottle of wine and the guys had a beer. Service was good, but had a few lags in refilling water. They were not full yet still seemed busy. Really nice restored older building.
Enjoyable local pub.
I had requested a table (online reservation) to be on the Mission Sonoma side by the windows, so it would be quieter than the bar side. I have elderly parents who are hard of hearing. When we got there, they had missed my request and the tables we wanted were taken. We had a booth by the bar and had to shout throughout the lunch. We all had a hard time hearing. Food was good, but experience stressful.
I really like this place and often go for a meal and drinks when I'm in Sonoma. I happened to be on my own and didn't appreciate my table for one reservation immediately inside the door on a not very busy, cold and rainy Saturday evening. So I took a seat at the bar. The poor bartender was on his own and doing his best to keep up with drink orders. I've had that bartender before and he's great, but the service was lacking due to his overwhelming work load. I don't know that the service would have been any better if I'd stayed at the cold, drafty table reserved for me by the door. it seemed to me that everyone at the bar was trying to stifle frustration at slow service. Maybe someone called off, but if scheduling one bartender on a Saturday night was intentional, then I'd suggest considering a second bartender. If it's not terribly busy, don't use the tables immediately near the door. The food was great as always. I love the vinegar based coleslaw and fries are tasty, regular or truffle. There used to be a BBQ sampler that is no longer on the menu. That was my go to, but the half rib platter was a nice substitute.
We went to B&V just last week and enjoyed it... this second time, not so much. Louder, different music, not so nice service, only ok food. Totally different feeling. More “bar scene”, which the wait staff seemed to meld with, to our detriment, then we were told that the restaurant is going to change to a steak house in a week or two. So, everything will be different. We’ll see.
Great service, amazing whiskey selection, delicious bbq, big screen TVs.
Great food and friendly service! One of the best burgers I have ever had and love the Hawaiian bun...try it with goat cheese!
Reservation was 1:30, water served at 2, wine at 2:10, entree arrived at 2:30 Cold. 2nd entree arrived 10 minutes later. 1st entree was vegan burger and sweet potato fries. Burger and bread were like card board and fries were cold. 2nd entree was pulled pork, had some taste but dry. Fries were hot and wonderful. Manager comped the meal (reason for a decent value score). After talking to locals it appears this is a common theme, labeled hit or miss. DONT EAT HWRE.
Great host with the most at the front who greeted us with smiles. Good times in the bar area during happy hour, which we found out was 7 days a week and stumbled upon it while wine tasting in Sonoma. The fried chicken wings are a must. The Moscow mules are strong and tasty. Love the lively atmosphere, really energetic. Staff are attentive, and the bar food came out fast and hot! The Warriors game was on, and the whole place was getting busy. I noticed reserved tables were put together later in the evening. It's a happening spot, highly recommended after a day of winetasting in the area.
Great service. Yummy food
Excellent food. Our favorite on our trip to Sonoma. Not friendly happy hour service. U had to sit at the bar on stools to get happy hour prices. We had to leave our dinner table and go sit at the bar. Inconvenient and silly rule.
Very noisy as we were seated next to the bar. If that doesn’t bother you, the food and service are well above average. Oysters were fresh and tasty. We split the bbq plate and had ribs left over.
Went there for a family dinner post day out in the vineyards. Was very loud. As in, we could hear the other conversations going on several booths away very clearly and our conversations not at all.
Dinner was good
Service was extremely slow, they were busy, but it seemed as though they may have been under staffed. Food was good. Wine by the glass menu was ok- my wine was terrible-I didn’t finish it, was a bit surprised I wasn’t asked about it. Given the slow service I didn’t bother sending it back. It’s definitely a good pace for a bar, sports atmosphere- a little loud for a quiet dinner.
Great food, especially the burger. A bit noisy especially on the side where you face the TV screens above the bar. A bit quieter on the opposite side. No offense to B&V and their offerings, but go next door for the ice cream.
The service was excellent and the food delicious. The BBQ platter was generous and cooked perfectly but the sauce was a little too vinegary. The garlic fries stayed crispy through our entire meal! The sauteed veggies were excellent and the salmon was cooked perfectly. The drawback was the $25 lobster bloody mary and regular bloody mary. The entire glass was filled with ice which melted and made the entire drink super watery including the lobster which tasted like water. They forgot the bacon and other vegetables. in the drink as well. The mix was delicious so if you get a bloody mary ask for ice on the side. It is perfectly located on the Sonoma Plaza so great to walk around after. The whiskey flight was fun and tasty!
I Booked a reservation for 8:30 PM. Got to the restaurant and the person who greeted us informed us that they were closing. I told them that we had a reservation, he looked on his computer and said “Oh sorry, I missed that one. The kitchen is closed. Sorry, have a nice night.” No recommendations of other places, no nothing. I would not recommend anybody to go here.
Crab ravioli was delicious, Cole slaw ingredients looked beautiful, but was overwhelmed with vinegar—not sure what the kitchen was thinking when this was created, but it did not get eaten. Presentation of 1/2 slab of ribs was impressive until my husband bit into them. The meat was cooked perfectly, however the BBQ sauce was nasty & way too spicy. My friend ordered a salad with a vinaigrette dressing & again it was overwhelmed by vinegar & she requested a Ranch dressing. My other friend ordered a crab cake on an heirloom tomato bed & when requested, was told the restaurant did not have tartar sauce. Excuse me? When all this was mentioned to the staff, they were very sympathetic & stated they had received complaints in the past for similar experiences. Why would the management not make changes if these complaints had been made before? I don’t get it.
Not one of the 6 of us will be returning here. 4 of us are locals & 2 were visiting from Alaska. How embarrassing for your staff to have to apologize when all we wanted to do is share what we thought might be an enjoyable meal with friends that became a real disappointment.
The paper lunch menus were EXTREMELY dirty.
Great Burgers! Lovely lobster salad. Always a go to when you want something but not a formal place. Good wine, beer and cider selections to accompany the menu.
Ribs were 8ncreduble. Shout out to the beet salad too. Great staff with good food and drink. A hidden gem in the middle of sonoma
Food was good. They took a while to bring out the drinks and forgot one. But were nice enough to comp a drink.
Food was standard bar fare. The server was excellent and suggested wineries to bisit in the area during our trip
The service and food were adequate. However, the pictures on the website looked much nicer than the actual restaurant was. It was advertised that is was lively place with an excellent chef. The food was OK, nothing special, and there was no entertainment at all, except for someone constantly singing happy birthday to what seemed to be the same bar customer. Overall, it was disappointment.
Our waitress was wonderful. Very attentive and on top of everything. Ribs were sensational as were the fries. Large portions well priced. Drinks were some of the best we've had in the Bay Area. Great Bloody Mary and Manhattan. We'll be back.....SOON
Great Burgers, and love that they offer a burger in a lettuce wrap instead of a bun, so we can eat more onion rings and fries! Eating at a table in the bar is fun and the bar and people are fun to watch. In the dining room a little quieter, but nicer if you want to visit more. Good consistent place to eat!
It was awesome and ask for T...he is the best!!!
Great service and great food! Definitely a noisy place but other then that was great!
Food was delicious . Service was great.
Came here for dinner over holiday weekend. Wanted something causal , and with good variety of food. They have everything from burgers, to BBQ ribs and pasta.
I ordered vegan burger which was very good. Friends order the wings and thought they were good. Also liked the cocktails as they are not too sweet.
Mis advertised, was just a local bar. Based on the write up, i expected a lot more and was way more expensive
Really good food. Great atmosphere. Good service. Made for a great night out after visiting wineries all day.
Was a nice place to stop and eat. Service was fantastic, food was good and had a fun atmosphere!
My husband and I found this place last minute when we were out for a Sunday drive and we are so glad we did! The food is amazing and there are many drink options. The atmosphere was really cool. We can't wait to bring friends and family back to B&V.
