B&O American Brasserie - Hotel Monaco Ratings and Reviews
I want to qualify first that my husband is a chef in the restaurant. I came in for the new fall menu that was great. I had The Coffee Crusted Pork Chop and it was great. Regardless of him working there this is a great place to come for food a drink with friends and chill in the lounge.
I went to B&O knowing they did not have any vegan items on the menu, but trusting that they would be able to accommodate me. Not only did they, I had a FANTASTIC meal. The chefs created a beautiful and filling and high quality stuffed acorn squash for my meal. Plus, my date was able to eat a really delicious coffee crusted pork chop. We both were able to have a high quality meal with both of our dining options catered to. I highly recommend this restaurant.
We went here for my wife's birthday. Everything we order was great. We got into a conversation with two other couples and they said all their food was great too. They have a very unique drink menu so we tried a few different ones. Ount of the 6 only didn't like 1 and they took it off the bill no problems. We will definitely be going back
Very convenient, especially if you're staying at the Hotel Monaco, or somewhere close by. Most of the staff were very friendly and accommodating, and we did not have to wait overly long to be served. The food was surprisingly good for a hotel dining room, and well worth making this place a destination on its own..
I came here the first night I was in Baltimore, because it had great reviews and it was super close to my hotel (I was not sure of the safety of walking about yet). In between I went to 3 wonderful restaurants (Phillips and La Scala) and wanted to go back so much I came back to B & O on my final night. Not because of convenience, food choice or any one thing (Baltimore Inner Harbor has 100's of great choices) but because my overall experience was outstanding the first time. The second time was equally wonderful. I highly recommend this restaurant for all the criteria I can think of. Special shout out to Dominic (Maitre'd) for his dessert recommendations.
Really disappointing meal. The wedge salad....wasn’t even a wedge. The fact it was served with ranch and not blue cheese was odd especially since it had blue cheese chunks added. The bacon was paper thin and practically non-existent. The balsamic was apparently infused in the dressing but I didn’t taste it. The tomatoes were apparently pulverized into a powder and sprinkled on the plate? Again, just odd. Didn’t care for this dish at all.
As for the main course, my cast iron crab cake was underwhelming. While there was plenty of lump crab within the cake itself, virtually one third of the cake was filler and that filler was located on one sliver of the cake. The presentation of the crab cake was also odd. On a pumpkin purée? Just because it’s October? The shredded carrot and celery was also a little weird all mashed together. Another disappointing dish.
My wife’s Wagu burger was good though. She enjoyed that and I wish I had ordered it too.
Good call having the Diamondbacks Green Machines on tap. Best thing there all night.
Had tickets to the Hippodrome a few blocks away so we had dinner here before the show. Since it was great weather we parked between and walked which was great.
Food was good, but limited. Only food I wasn't impressed with was the rolls, but I got the Sunday "special" of meatloaf which was great. Hubby was very happy with his burger (waygu) and got the roasted cauliflower instead of fries.
Service was very good.
I was only in Baltimore for 3 nights so had to choose restaurants carefully. I'm so glad one of my dinners was at B&O! The service was outstanding, I loved the creative menu and the food was both beautifully presented and delicious. This restaurant will definitely be on my list on my next visit to Baltimore.
I ordered the chicken with grits and heirloom carrots. The chicken was so under cooked, blood ran out when I cut into the meat. Being concerned that under cooked chicken may be a health hazard, I immediately called my server and pointed it out prior to taking a single bite. She apologized and took the dish only to bring it back a few minutes later. It was clearly the same dish with the bloody, now cold grits, and burnt chicken. The cut mark I had made was still there but the chicken was actually charred black. Instead of making a new dish, they threw the chicken pieces, a leg and thigh, on the grill, burned it, then put it back on the dish.
I question the kitchen staff and the server who had to see the burnt meat meat and bloody grits and still served it to me?
This is an expensive restaurant, I certainly would expect better.
The beer selection was great, and I enjoyed my hefewiezen. My husband liked the porter recommended by our server. The dinner rolls appeared to come out of a bag of Kings Hawaiian, which was disappointing for such a pricey restaurant. The entrees (pork chops, scallops) were very good, but not "$30 an entree" good. I received 3 scallops in my dish. They were wonderfully seared, very tender, with a crispy shell, but a tad oversalted and overbuttered. At $10 a scallop, I guess that I expected a little better. My husband enjoyed his chops. Not sure if we'd return.
Friendly and knowledgeable waiter. Unfortunately the other waiters were busy and distracted from the ambiance by setting the dining area for the next day’s lunch. Guests were still having diner. Suggest this be done when the dining area is cleared of guests. Only 8:00 PM!
Soo was a phenomenal server. It's been a long time since I've had service like that. She was on fleek working our table & the room like a champ. I booked this for b4 our Cirque show & didn't even realize there was a great Happy Hour there. The pit beef sliders are great & that corn pudding is life changing. It had been awhile since we had been there. The burger was just okay especially for $18. The $5 pours of Champagne were legit. Really wanted to try a few desserts but we were too full.
We went here for restaurant week with friends. As a group, we were disappointed in 4/4 of the appetizers and 3/4 entrees, and 2/4 desserts we ordered... the drinks were okay, but nothing to write home about.
We feel that restaurant week is really a restaurant's time to shine to new potential patrons.... they did a poor job with the offerings selected and I am sorry to say that Baltimore has many better options and we would likely not go back.
Very disappointing. Service was poor. Waitress couldn't answer simple questions concerning the food. After our order was taken no one came to our table unless we waved them down. My dish was serverd warm but barely. We had to find another waiter just to get water. We won't go back.
Horrible experience, wife and I wanted a nice night out for our 4thAnniversary so we stayed at the Monaco Hotel and decided to have dinner here. We wasn't greeted by any waiter or waitress, she just walked up to us and said have you decided after 30min of just sitting. It was very loud, dirty and the food is not even average. My wife and I will never return.
Went to B&O to start off a bachelor party. The host was very welcoming, our server Ben was very informed about all the offerings and made some excellent recommendations. All the drinks and dishes were fantastic but the duck wings were the standout. I have already recommended B&O to several local friends and will continue to do so.
This was my first time my guest and I have dined there. She ordered the sea bass, which was very bland. I ordered the crab cake which was pretty good. The asparagus was too oily and the over temperature of the food was barley warm.
Our experience was very disappointing.
