Too hot—where’s the AC?
Kale salad was delicious, love that they have cava by the glass, sorghum duck wings were fabulous, soft shell crabs in season and perfect! My second time dining here and not disappointed! Super friendly service too!
Food was great, waiter was great!!!
Everything was good. We had small plates and a few drinks before a show at the Hippodrome. The octopus was wonderful and the drinks were well-thought out. We found the flatbread too chewy, but overall, we enjoyed our date night here.
Great cocktails, delicious food, and a great happy hour with colleagues!
A really nice place food was pretty good ,not many choices on the menu mothers day but over all pretty good. my credit card was charged twice for my meal but the service is great ,friendly and helpful staff.
Our reservation was for 5:00 and the restaurant was empty. We couldn’t pick the table because apparently they all were assigned. We asked nicely again to change the table and were refused (remember empty place).
Our waiter was absolutely great and all her suggestions were just delicious ( exception was a goat cheese mashed potatoes, that was very salty) it wasn’t her fault. My husband and son shared the Tomahawk Ribeye that was good. Unfortunately it was served warm ( if you pay $99 for a stake it better be served HOT) but tasted good.
Good food, good service. Walking distance to the Hippodrome where we were seeing a show. Exactly what we were looking for.
great happy hour cocktails, comfortable lounge. Ate upstairs with nice surroundings. Wait staff was very attentive. Food was excellent.
Our primary server was very inattentive. One server argued with us-twice-when we asked for condiments. The restaurant was not overly busy and there was no apparent reason for the disappointing service level.
I was very disappointed to find that there were several items on the menu, that specifically drew me to go there, not there when we arrived. We asked several people and no one knew why. Some were substituted for other items, others just weren't there. I feel like it was a bit pricey for a limited amount of food available. We had a great waiter though.
This was my first brunch experience at this restaurant. I was very pleased with the variety of choices which included some of the more non-traditional items such as hummus and little neck clams. Everything was tasty and I will definitely return.
When we made a reservation, there was no mention of a brunch buffet on Easter, let alone not being able to order off the menu. Days before I noticed the Easter buffet, and it listed a crepe station including banana Nutella, fresh seafood including clams, deviled eggs and a few other things that were nowhere to be found. It also mentioned that beer and wine were included- they were not. Some of the food they had was good, but most not that much better than a free hotel breakfast. The omelette station was decent.
People were very friendly when we walked in, but it took a while for the server to come and then no one really explained how it worked or that some was upstairs and some down. The coffee was barely warm. After we found the dessert table, there were not enough serving pieces to pick things up. I asked who I thought was a manager, for something to put the pie on my plate. He took one that had been used for another kind of pie and put it in the pie that didn’t have one. That may be okay if you are home with family, but I was surprised that that was how the problem was solved. Also, we had a stack of plates on our table that was a foot tall before anyone removed them.
We chose this restaurant as we were visiting Baltimore and have enjoyed our local restaurant in the Kimpton Hotel and thought it might be as good. We were very disappointed with a pricey, subpar brunch.
I made a reservation for a party of 4 on Easter Sunday at 11:30 AM. I thought it would be much more crowded for a holiday brunch, but it was not. Not a bad thing at all, just surprising. I think a lot of people walked in without a reservation and had no problem. The food was kind of mediocre for the $50 price. Not as many offerings as I expected when I read the description online. The food was decent, but nothing spectacular. Our server was very kind and attentive. He made sure we had everything we needed. Probably would not make the hike into the city to come here again though.
My boyfriend and I were staying at Hotel Monaco for the weekend. We ended our Saturday night at this bar & had a great experience - super chill atmosphere & very friendly bartender. Flash forward to the next morning when we’re trying to figure out brunch.... I wanted to go to Shirley’s but was afraid of a long wait as we didn’t have the time. We decided to just go to the B&O American Brassarie since it was in our hotel & no wait to get in. We got seated immediately as it was pretty empty. The hostess said something about serving ourselves and our waiter would be there for drinks. We were left confused but figured out eventually that it was a buffet style (disappointing). The buffet was pretty bland - mostly vegetables & 1 type of potatoes. The food seemed to be all over the place so I’m sure we missed stuff as no one explained to us where things were or even where to get plates! Halfway through our meal, a server finally comes over to take our drink order. My bf got a mimosa and water - I order a Bloody Mary & coffee which he then duplicates as if my bf didn’t just order his own drinks?! Since when do you have to order drinks in twos? I asked for cream with my coffee and the server finally brought it once my coffee was cold and my meal was long finished. I was already feeling so defeated bc brunch is my fav meal & I was so let down by this one, when our check arrived and we saw this “buffet” was $50/person!! 🤦🏽♀️ We ate nowhere near enough to justify that price & the food wasn’t nearly good enough to justify this price! Mostly I feel like someone should have explained the deal before seating us as we wouldn’t have stayed (knowing we weren’t going to eat that much). We even got questioned by the hostess why we were leaving... as if we weren’t there for an hour already! I honestly felt like I was in a Black Mirror episode or something! Very disappointing meal- from wait staff to food to price.
Overall this brunch was a big disappointment. We had a reservation for Sunday at 11:00am and were staying at the Monaco. We waited 5 minutes at the reception desk before someone showed up to seat us. It was not busy but they seemed understaffed. Our waiter was pleasant and got us water, but it took some time to get both regular and decaf coffee.
We placed our orders and waited. We ordered two Bloody Mary's and a grapefruit juice with our meals. Twenty minutes later nothing was out so we asked. 10 minutes later the waiter came back and said he didn't know what happened but our order never got placed, even though we saw him write everything down. Now he took the complete order again and 25 minutes after that we finally ate. The food was average, fine for breakfast but not worth the price.
I had hoped for a better experience from the Hotel Monaco, which is my go-to hotel in Baltimore.
The food and atmosphere at B&O were both fabulous! Our server was very considerate of our time crunch, as well, and we had an overall fantastic experience!
Food was excellent, service pretty slow for lunch despite not being too crowded. Server very pleasant, but lunch service took over an hour.
Slow service, food not cooked properly and did not look fresh. Expensive for quality level.
Overpriced. Food was mediocre at best. Service was very slow. Took forever for our food to come out.
Have not been to B&O in a long time and was very disappointed. Baltimore has great restaurants, this isn't one of them. Overpriced with mediocre food. Had a pit beef lasagne with overly rich beef sauces on what was probably delicate think lasagna peers. Needed something - heat, parsley, herbs, something. Just 3 blocks North on N. Charles ST. and running north for about 8 blocks is a string of good places to eat that are less expensive and much more satisfying. I was with 2 others, and we all agreed that B & O caters to tourists.
A little over priced but that’s to be expected for the area
Our food wasn’t great and one person had a potato that wasn’t cooked and the other couple didn’t get their app until after their entree
They were short staffed
I had a Birthday dinner and the food was amazing especially the lamb shank and pot roast. Our waitress was very attentive and I would definitely recommend the restaurant. The ambiance was just right for a intimate evening with family or friends!
We came here on Saturday night before a show. At 5:30 pm, this place was already half full - the first good sign. We were seated upstairs at a quiet table overlooking the busier action by the bar on the first floor, which was perfect for us. Our server, Ben, was attentive, friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. The cocktails that we started out with were excellent. I can see why the "Queen Bee" has been on the menu at B&O for many years! For dinner, we had caesar salad (real anchovies!) as an appetizer and the short rib and burger for entrees. The highlight was definitely the wagyu burger. The pacing of courses and service in general was wonderful. We even had a manager stop by to check on us a chat for a few. We live less than a mile away from here and given our experience, we will for sure come back again.
Very limited menu, chicken under cooked and returned to kitchen twice, the host did take it off the bill.
I will be back very soon. I had lunch here and I liked the place so much that I decided to have my fiancé’s birthday dinner here
The waiter was very pleasant and eager to please, the food was decidedly mediocre and way overpriced. The ambiance was a bit dreary, the decor "tired." I won't be going back.
First off, Barnard did a great job. We told we had to be done in an hour as there was a meeting after lunch. He took our order right away, food came promptly, our leftovers were wrapped up and bill settled with a little time to spare.
I enjoy the atmosphere here. Nostalgic vibe, good space between tables, servers on point.
I had a chicken salad sandwich. It was fine, but had an identity crisis with a little too much going on. (onion/poppyseed bun, curry, mango chutney, raisins) The side salad was delicious. My companion had the 4 cheese flatbread, which was huge (for an individual lunch portion), gooey and delicious. She asked for a little bit of salad on the side and received an entire side salad (at a $7 charge). Pre-disclosure of the charge would have helped decision making.
I will definitely go back and try other lunch options.
We had a very nice time at brunch! The food was excellent and the server was outstanding. We were in for a bachelorette weekend and they brought over a round of champagne. The overall great experience was great. I would recommend.
I really like the food. The waiter we had for dinner upstairs was fantastic. The waiter downstairs in the bar area is slow and makes you feel that she shouldn't have to get stuff for you.
Quickly seated, would have liked to see a wider brunch menu, I had the crab meat omelette which was very good, though not too many options for my partner who is vegetarian dairy intolerant.
Good mix of booths and tables. Pleasant staff.
My wife had a signature cocktail that was delicious and had a nice kick to it. We really enjoyed the French Onion soup; piping hot and cheesy. My steak was tasty but pretty small. My wife had the flatbread and said it was wonderful. The service was perfect; friendly, attentive but not overbearing. We had a nice chat with the manager who is from Ireland. We had just got back from a trip there and enjoyed his interest. It was a great evening. Certainly worth checking out when you are in Baltimore.
In terms of food quality, there were some gems in the weekend brunch menu, such as the shimp & grits and the house made doughnuts. The atmosphere is pleasant. Service was somewhat slow, however, especially given that the restaurant did not seem busy. We had to ask about our entrees and rush through since we had an event to get to at the Hippodrome (walking distance if you don't mind a few blocks). We would return but keep in mind timing concerns in the future.
The restaurant was quieter tonight because the bar scene was not loud and raucous. We were pleasantly greeted and given a table of our choice. The waiter, Dominic, did a wonderful job given his newness to the job. He worked hard to ensure that we were pleased .
I was treating my mom to her birthday dinner and we had such an incredible experience! The service was impeccable and everyone made her feel special for her birthday. The food was delicious and the wine selection was great. Had such a lovely time and could not express my gratitude enough for everyone making my mom’s birthday so great!
Came for dinner with friends before the show at the Hippodrome. Started with several appetizers, cheese & charcuterie, duck wings, & fire roasted octopus. All were excellent! For my meal I had the wagyu filet witch was very tender & cooked perfect. We also tried a varity of desserts that were all so yummy! Our server Yoon was great and took very good care of us, chef came out to check on us and make sure we were happy with our meals. Would definitely return. Didn't get to try the brick oven flatbread but it looked & smelled delicious.😊
A+ food. Fantastic service. Great decision for Valentine’s Day.
We were delighted with our dinner at B&O. My wife said the Caesar salad was the best she ever had. The bronziniwas magnificent and the desserts were delicious. The ambiance is relaxed and friendly. The service was efficient, with a very knowledgeable server who helped us make our selections. The price was very reasonable.
