We both had the Opakapaka, corn/cheddar bread, sweet potato, kahuku corn/mushrooms and Brussell sprouts, with a bottle of wine. Desert flowerless chocolate cake. Every thing was great and met our expectations, I've had the Opakapaka last visit a year ago. Staff was very attentive excellent service. The Manager talked to us for a while, made us right at home. Mahalo.

Saturday night birthday dinner for my husband. We have eaten at Azure several times over the years; this time we were under the awning outside (instead of being in the open seating area outside). Dinner was very nice and fish was fresh and well prepared, as usual. Service was reasonably attentive although we had a long wait for a sommelier and for drinks several times. The mood of the patio area is lovely, with beautiful candles on each table and the general noise level quite low. On this night there was a large corporate meeting in the hotel's courtyard - on the plus side, they had arranged fireworks on the water so we had a beautiful show for free. On the negative side, there was a lot of background noise and music that drifted over, and there were long waits for the ladies restrooms in the hotel (I ended up going all the way down to the lower level fitness center area to find an open restroom). Otherwise a wonderful evening.

We had an enjoyable dinner. Food was cooked perfectly, service was great. Nestor, our server was very attentive and kind. We also had the manager check on us, which was very nice. Shows that service is important to them.

Royal MaiTais were wonderful; not too sweet, just perfect. Tasting. Menu @ $98.00; one with wine pairings $49. Amazing courses, all the seafood, sauces, beef ribeye were amazing. Ample size portions. Was fun to taste so many different flavors and the wine pairings were perfect. Dessert at the end was awesome and hot pressed coffee was delicious. They also served an anniversary flourless cake with sauce that was so delicious. Our dining experience at AZURE was very memorable. Our server was professional, efficient & pleasant without being unpretentious.Wonderful table outside with views of the beach and Diamond Head. Couldn’t ask for a more special anniversary meal.

Overall experience was very positive. Main negative was when our entree's were brought out, my wife's fish was undercooked & mine was cold. The server immediately returned them and had the chef fire up 2 more. The manager Alan came to our table and apologized. When the new entrees came out (after a lengthy wait) they were done perfectly and delicious. The manager came tableside to make sure the fish had been prepared properly and to our satisfaction. We were provided complimentary dessert which was also quite delicious.

Magnificent dining experience! Ian's helpful recommendations steered us towards one of the most wonderful restaurant meals we've had the pleasure of consuming. The Opah was perfectly prepared, the corn bread was to die for--even the asparagus was better than most. Best of all was the sweet potato puree...yum! To top it off, the beautiful sunset cooperated to greatly enrich the ambiance.

Brilliant cuisine keeps bringing us back, along with the history of the Royal Hawaiian, the beachfront dining, and excellent service. This last dining experience was birthday celebrations for my wife, but we have dined before with all our children and spouses...12 in total. It was as perfect for large parties as it is for two. The seafood salad is a meal on its own, and with the smoked fish chowder as an appetizer, is a perfect meal - pair with a crisp white, my wife, and the sunset, and it is all you need,

On the low end of a high end place. Our party of 4 had, salads, the beet was outstanding, fish chowder soup was a little fishy, app, shrimp salad was good and sashimi, expensive but really good. Large plates fell a little short. Surf and turf way to small for $70, clearly someone ordering this is hungry fell well short of filling up a 14 yr old boy, tuna and scallops was again average, they jacked up a nice piece of tuna with some taco type seasoning that had to be cut away, also the tuna had some fat lines. The mahi on the fish board was good but again average, just a piece of fish on a plate. Flourless cake desert good. Service was nothing outstanding, nice guy but he had too many tables and was working alone. Ambiance was as advertised right on the beach which was nice but there was no music and you can not see the sun set from here which we were looking forward to. Again not a bad meal but for the price and what they are trying to be, it was simply average at best.

Had a good dinner with two teenage boys. Had a good menu. Right on the shore, do beautiful setting. It rained that night but still good setting.

Fresh fish menu was a welcome add to the menu. Many fish choices fixed several different ways.

We ordered the special coursed meal with wine pairing. We thought the food was fair. The wine was bad. In all
Fairness we are from the wine country in Sonoma Ca but I would have expected better wine. Overall we were disappointed. But loved the view and the fact we are at our hotel. We would not recommend.

After a 12 hour flight from New York, we were completely exhausted upon arrival in Honolulu but we wanted to have one good meal before our cruise left the next morning. Luckily I picked this restaurant fro other reviewers on Open Table as well as Zagat. It was too late to try the tasting menu but we did order several small plates that were spectacular, including a lobster brioche, a garlic shrimp dish (once we got over the idea of shrimp being served with the head on) and a scallop foie gras concoction that was amazing. The restaurant is in the Beautiful Royal Hawaiian Hotel with magnificent views of Waikiki beach and Diamond Head...Had a local waiter named John who was superlative and even gave us a delicious complimentary dessert of some type of chocolate mouse plate- for our 50 anniversary. Prices were relatively reasonable for such quality food plated with such precision...Dont miss this gem if you are in Honolulu.

We read the reviews and then called for a reservation and requested dress code. We were told the dress was casual but nice shorts, closed toed shoes, and no bathing suits. The restaurant was very nicely decorated The menu offerings are limited but specializes in fresh fish. My wife had the snapper that was great. I had fresh tuna that was good. However, we got seated besides a family of six all in their bathing suits and walking through the restaurant to the rest room barefooted. These were not little kids they were of adult age. We said something to our waiter and he said well they can “see sand”. They charge a very premium price but it’s not a premium restaurant. You can get fresh fish in a bar environment somewhere cheaper.

We spend a week at the Royal Hawaiian about every three years. We usually try various restaurants during our stay, but never find one that has the atmosphere, view, service and quality of food as the Azure. So this visit we dined at Azure each evening enjoying different entrees, sides and deserts each night and were not disappointed.

Great service. The tasting menu was wonderful-just enough food so you left satisfied with the variety, but not so stuffed you could not walk. The wine pairing was innovative (Riesling with beef-it worked). We will return

An elegant but snobby restaurant that didn't meet our expectations. This was our last night in Waikiki and we wanted to dine somewhere special. The food was good with a nice presentation however there was very little on the menu for someone who doesn't eat fish or seafood. My dining companion ordered the pork chop however when it was served, we were advised the restaurant doesn't offer the appropriate cutlery to go with it. Very odd for such a fine dining establishment.

We had made a reservation in advance and asked for seating on the patio. When we arrived, we were told there were no patio tables available. The small table for 2 that we were seated at was the least desirable in the restaurant. My view was not the ocean but rather the area where the waitstaff came and went from the kitchen.

Service very slow that night. We waited to place an order for a long time with just a glass of water. Then it took quite awhile for our drinks to come. Even then the waiter didn't take our dinner orders and we were certainly ready. So not a great "Anniversary" place for us.

I’ve enjoyed many tasting menus from nice restaurants. This one was my favorite. The seafood was amazing. The flavor combinations were amazing. The wine pairing really made the difference. Instead of a typical pairing they really took time to pair interesting flavors that made a big impact to my experience. For example, I bet you have never paired an excellent German Riesling with a 45-day aged ribeye steak. Yes, they also provided a red for those more traditional types. The flavor combination of the Riesling, however, was absolutely outstanding. Beyond the food, the service was so great. What I really liked was that while they are a high-end restaurant and presented each dish with perfection and great attention to detail and timed every course well, still, they were the friendliest hosts and servers. I like the combination of perfection and warm smiles and super friendly conversation about. We had a great experience for my fiancé’s 50th birthday and highly recommend this restaurant to others. Micah was the Manager and also selected the wine pairing. John was our server.
