Azure - The Royal Hawaiian
Azure was a sublime dining experience.
Definately a very special place great ambience overlooking the beach and beautiful decor inside as well. Great food and presentation. Was great for my birthday dinner
Outstanding fish preparation! Nothing more needs to be said.
We had the worst table. Too many blue shirts carrying trays wondering if they were going to bump us. Lots of commotion and activity so it was hard to focus on our conversation. Satomi and the food were excellent. Wish we could have enjoyed it more!
Awesome place to eat dinner.
Girl at the front needs to work on social and service skills
It’s all about the food, wine and cocktails. You will not be disappointed.
Great food. Great views. Service could have been better for such a high end place.
Azure is a special occasion restaurant, for sure, but the lanai, even with sunsetters posing for photos, is an idyllic spot for a celebration or special occasion. Though we had to put up with some gal with a photo light at a nearby table taking annoying picture after picture of the food, nothing could really detract from the quality of the food. Beautiful ahi and diver scallops on the plate had been in the sea not too much earlier that day. Wonderfully fresh and beautifully seared to perfection.
Bar none, though, the feature that made dinner an event was service by Scott. He gave wise counsel on ordering champagne, was attentive to the birthday girl in our party, and had great patience (as the dad of two he said) with the little person in our merry band of diners. Great service made for a memorable birthday celebration for the mom in our group. And the surprise birthday dessert was (almost literally) icing on the cake.
Save up and treat yourself to this splurge that includes the (second) best mai tais in Waikiki (sorry Azure, but The House Without a Key @ Halekulani is mo' bettah by far)!
Beautifu ambience, ocean views and great attentive staff.
Always enjoy this restaurant. I try to dine here whenever in Waikiki. Excellent service. Tasty food. Delicious clams
Lovely romantic dinner with seats on the terrace by the beach
Food was inedibly salty; had to send it back. The rest tasted meh. Great mai tai cocktail though. Service was a little slow, but they were pleasant and helpful. I would not eat there again.
Food was fantastic. Our server Jan was very knowledgeable in the food and wine that was served.
Excellent service and even better food! Great wait staff. Just had an outstanding night!
Fantastic! Service was perfect, beautiful view, and the food was amazing. I had the Ribeye, and my husband had the Beef and Reef. The meat was cooked exactly as requested, and the combination of flavors was delicious. Definitely going back!
Took my mom here for her birthday--the food and service was fantastic. No one rushed us through the meal, and we sat outside with a great view of Waikiki. We would go back for dinner in a heartbeat.
Wife’s milestone birthday & caught up with friends. Great dining experience!
Our server was incredible!! Thank you so much for everything. This was our second time here and we had a great time.
Great service, great ambiance, fantastic food and bottle of wine!
As a frequent patron of Azure I was pleased with the continued exceptional service by the staff. However, the menu selections have considerably declined. I had the tasting menu that was sub par compared to the previous tasting menus in the past. I hope Azure will consider bringing back previous offerings I.e sashimi starter course, seafood cappuccino, and prime rib with foie gras to name a few.
This used to be in our top 5 special places for fine dining in Waikiki. This time there were too many "misses" and we felt it was not worth the price anymore.
Food was disappointing, service was okay but not attentive as it could have been considering restaurant was not busy at the time.
- Beet salad that was just average, nothing unique or special about it, small portion for $16.
- Main course was Beef and Reef. The first time it was brought out the tiny 1/2 lobster tail was raw. Still gray colored and jiggly. Sent the entire plate back to cook more, the 2 scallops were very raw too. Plate returned with a new tiny 1/2 lobster tail and had to ask for them to still cook it again! The petite fillet was lacking flavor and texture was not good.
The amount of food on the plate was skimpy for the $59 price tag: a few spinach leaves, 2 petite mushrooms, 2 scallops and 1/2 a petite lobster tail - no bigger than a large tiger prawn and a small petite fillet the size of a small tuna can.
Not recommending this place again, so sad to see it went down hill. The interior was remodeled and lost its eclectic appeal as well. The only great thing about this place is the gorgeous beach view.
Best service ever ‘
Server was lovely, polished, accommodating
Beautiful setting a service. Good food!
I feel so very awkward about my experience tonight. I've read reviews. I've talked to other people and they have all stated that this is a great place to eat.
My experience was different.
It was a tad difficult to locate. But valet parking is available in front of the Royal Hawaiian hotel.
We had a reservation for four in celebration of my son's birthday. We requested Oceanside seating.
Walking up the receptionist, they gave us very strange looks as we provided our names.
They took us to a table for two. We obviously had four people with us. The seater says "oh I thought there were two of you". I ask doesn't the reservation say there are four of us and Oceanside seating for a birthday celebration. He says "oh yes, I see it here and still doesn't sit us ocean side". There were ocean side tables available.
What was most disturbing was the waiters. My boys stated that the waiters made them feel super uncomfortable. The waiters were pretty quiet and seemed to stare a lot. They were not very helpful, friendly, or accommodating when explaining the menu with everything being a la carte. My boys took a while deciding to eat. I even told the waiter my son's were not comfortable yet and she asked if we wanted to dine or leave. What the hell?
The food was okay. Not very tasty at all. We spent 350 for 4 people. I will not return here. I'd much rather dine at Roy's or Alan Wongs. All around the experience does not match the price point. We are throughly disappointed. Employees who are very rigid and uptight makes for a terrible dining experience. My entire family was disappointed. You know it's bad when teenagers feel uncomfortable.
Good beachside western food to have with friends or on a date. Semi casual clothing
Mediocre food in a lovely setting. Sashimi was a highlight. Wine list was very pedestrian.
Overall a very enjoyable evening. Appreciated the personal touches throughout the experience. One small complaint that we were sat next a large retirement party.
Delicious food, beautiful view, great service. Our waiter brought us a dessert on the house to celebrate our anniversary, remembering that my wife did not eat gluten. Great night!
Everything was great! Just some parts of the food was salty. Overall 5 stars
Great place, great service, really great food, good presentation!
My wife and I wanted a nice dinner while on our family vacation in Oahu. Derrick our waiter was fantastic and make the experience exactly what we were looking for.
We did the 5 course meal with the wine pairing. They were bang on.
Great job to all.
Excellent food and service. Beautiful setting in lovely historic hotel on the water. Very accommodating to gluten free diners.
I found out about this place via Yelp and just online browsing for a nice, fine dining restaurant. It was a short distance from where we were staying in Waikiki, but the hotel it's located in is kind of hidden and took us a while to find. Luckily, we had time to kill before our reservation which was at 6, so we were able to find the hotel. Otherwise, we probably would have been late. We asked for seating by the beach front and got a table for 2 in the corner. The beach view is beautiful and we caught the sunset too, but just knowing how crowded Waikiki beach is, we mostly people watched. The service was great and our server brought out a chocolate dessert for us at the end of our meal because we were celebrating my boyfriend's graduation. We had 3 entrees which were all delicious. He ordered the ribeye, we shared the lobster tail, and I had the ahi tuna.
Food was very good. Service...not so.
We were lucky that the Union strike had ended a week prior to our arrival. We were also lucky that we were able to dine at this fantastic restaurant as well. We always stay at The Royal Hawaiian and this was our 1st time dining @ Azure. Fantastic food, service, view, you name it. Highly recommend the lobster appetizer and the modern bouillabaisse entree. We were celebrating my Mom's 88th birthday and they brought out a complimentary dessert for her too. Thank you for making this evening very special for my Mom. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Great view and the food is tasty. Hard to beat being right on the beach with a direct view of diamond head!
