Azure Restaurant @ the Intercontinental Toronto Centre Ratings and Reviews
We had pretty low expectations, but for the price this Christmas dinner failed to meet even our low bar. It's a fixed menu, so it shouldn't be too hard to keep tabs on what should be served and when. But we had to ask for bread (on the menu) and had to turn away our Entree because they brought it before we'd received the salad. If we'd wanted to be done our "special" Christmas dinner in 40 minutes this place would have been perfect, but (being European) I prefer to linger over my meal and don't appreciate the assembly line approach to dining. We were treated like a number. Processed quickly, one more table to close, and ... done. Since we were paying $200 a head (with wine and cocktails) for our meal I would have appreciated a more personal touch.
The food was fine. Not fine dining by any means, but acceptable. But the experience fell short in pretty much every other department. Not an experience we would care to repeat.
I went for the Thanksgiving Day special, and I really enjoyed the meal.
I wish the special came with an appetizer and a desert , because the other options on the menu didn't really fit with the theme. Also, they weren't half as good as the dinner itself. My appetizer was the veal croquettes, which were okay. For my dessert, I had the apple cheesecake, which was equally as mediocre.
These service and ambiance were wonderful. All the staff were incredibly kind and knowledgeable. The ambiance was very warm and the noise level was very low, making it ideal for a comfortable dinner.
I liked my experience at Azure, and I felt that I paid more for that than the actual meal itself. I'm not a hardcore foodie and I never had a chance to try a lot of their regular menu, but I can vouch for the ambiance of this place.
I had visited the Azure restaurant at The InterContinental Toronto along with my partner, for a nice meal to finish off her birthday. We found the place to be elegant and clean, yet not overly formal; I wouldn't feel overdressed in a suit, nor underdressed in jeans. The food was of a high standard - 3 courses each along with a gin and tonic, and a glass of house red came to $160CAD, which for an upmarket destination like this, was pleasantly inexpensive. We'd both started with a duck salad, followed by chicken supreme, and she finished with a strawberry tart, and I with the cherry panna cotta. The service was friendly yet professional, and all our needs were seen to. All in all, it was a good meal, and somewhere I'd recommend. I know for some $160 may seem very steep, but for a special occasion, it's a lovely treat.
OUTSTANDING service from Coco , she truly goes out of her way to make your dining experience pleasurable without being intrusive.
The restaurant has a nice environment considering it is bascically located in a Hotel foyer. The food was served very quickly on this particular night.
The restaurant manager was also very attentive and stopped by our table on a couple of occasions to ensure that all was well.
this restaurant is very comfortable and they sat us by a large window with a glass roof and it was quite relaxing watching the rain and the hustle and bustle outside. We had the salmon and the risotto with lamb. Both were delicious. I also ordered the cornbread with smokey cheddar as an appetizer. The bread was good, but not over the top and since we also got warm bread we probably should not have ordered the cornbread.
Went Azure for dinner. Our server was very friendly asian lady. She took her time to explain and recommended the wine that would go very well with what we ordered. All our party loved the wine. Too bad that the wine was not on the wine list anymore as it was discontinued for some reason. All our party had great experience. Strongly recommed to use their complimentary valet parking, but valet attendants were rude. Will come back soon.
We went to Azure for my wife's birthday. The service was fast and courteous. Our
server was prompt and friendly. We had a table of four with friends we hadn't seen for a while so we were a bit slow to order, we did not feel rushed or neglected, the service was just perfect. We were down for Winterlicious and the menu was very tasty! I would definitely recommend Azure!
Service was great, nice venue - unfortunately the New Year's prixe fixe menu wasn't to our liking - only one of the two choices was good for us and it proved too heavily spiced (not indicated on the menu). Paid exorbitantly for a special occasion - disappointing.
Portions were way too small for an eighty dollar tab. Servers were forgetful. We had to ask for bread even though it was listed as part of the menu. We were never offered coffee and when i offered to pay for a coffee the server suddenly remembered that it was included in the price. The soup was like an afterthought and that main course was scant at best. Will not recommend. Will not return
I was rather disappointed as I had heard great things about Azure. Food was okay - dessert better than the main - but I could find better at other local restaurants.
Service was annoying. Our waiter kept removing plates while we were finishing the last few bites. His attitude was also rather patronizing. It is moments like this that I wish tips were not expected but harked back to the days of earned reward!
Ambience - in one word, tired. Seriously in need of a complete overhaul. Tables chipped and stands scraped. Walls/bar, well worn and marked. Dated back to the 80s. The only saving grace was the large, bright window.
Food was good but not extraordinary; typical hotel restaurant prices for what you get. There was a conference (annual one!) next door at convention centre and you would expect that the restaurant would staff up but instead only had one waiter during lunch! Slow slow service, waiter had no tact - kept interrupting key business discussions without waiting for a polite pause; gave our order to the next table by accident and once we got the order, it was wrong!
The restaurant was very kind to accommodate our family for brunch in a more private area while we celebrated our daughter's engagement. We were able to enjoy the meal and sit and chat for a long while without feeling we were being rushed out the door. Thank you AZURE !
