Azur Ratings and Reviews
Our past visits experience is why we chose Azur to celebrate Valentine’s Day this year. We received friendly and efficient greetings and were seated quickly. Our waitress gave us the specials and then took our drink orders. Thereafter began the issues I want to share. First I finished my glass of prosecco early as I was eating the romaine salad (quite good by the way) and waited for some time to get the waitresses attention to order another. In addition to the Romain salads, my husband had the shrimp appetizer, just so so and the rib eye steak. He enjoyed his steak very much. Although thin it was flavorful. I ordered the pork loin special. I wasn’t asked how I’d like it cooked so made the deadly mistake of assuming that it’d be medium. Well it was over done no pink at all! For the life of me I could not get the waitress’ attention nor did she ever once check with us throughout our dining to see how the food was. I left a good piece of it on my plate and that didn’t prompt herb to ask then either, especially when I answered no when she DID ask if I wanted to box it up. I know, they aren’t mind-readers but we’ve grown to expect better and insightful service whoever we eat out, especially at such a place as Azur. We did manage to get desserts, they were good. So bottom line is this: there are so many other wonderful dining options in KW that we won’t be returning.
We both had a fish dish. Portions were smaller than last time we went. Both of us hungry an hour later. The tomato flavor in dish overpowered the flavor of the fish in one and the other not memorable. . The bread was very good. Service was fine but it seemed like the Waiter had too many tables to serve. We ate indoors as there was no seating outdoors which was disappointing as the ambience is better outdoors, should have tried to specify in my reservation. Only here one time before and had the tile fish that time which was amazing, but I know it is not always available. We are here for several months every winter. Perhaps this was just an off day. Will likely try once more as we enjoyed it so much our first visit.
Any meal at AZUR is always a treat and this one was exactly that. My colleague and I decided to share an appetizer and a bottle of wine then traded entrees so we could try them both. I love the fresh caught special every time (Snowy Grouper on this night - see pic) and there's so much greatness on the menu! We ended dinner with a shared Almond & Apricot Crepe and a couple glasses of port. Another perfect evening at Azur!
Outdoor seating was lovely, as requested. Service was prompt and knowledgeable. Wine list was ample and not as overpriced as some higher end restaurants. Food not up to past experience. Salad satisfactory, but branzino was dry and the snapper was drenched in a butter sauce. Order it without the butter. Swordfish as a special was tasty and closer to properly cooked.
Current menu totally unlike the one on their website. Staff said that website was up to date. Very poor value for tomato appetizer which featured paper thin tomatoes drowned in a red salad dressing. Nicoise could have been great with a fried egg on top which was a nice touch but again, smothered in dressing, They also ran out of one of their specials. Could be a very nice place but needs some attention to detail.
