When we first arrived no one really seemed to be seating people and kind just were all standing around and then passed us off from one person to the next just for a manager to tell us that they needed to set a table for us. What was the point of making a reservation if a table wouldn’t be set perviously? The staff literally put 2 tables together that were set for 4 people. We were planning on 6 guests. They left both tables set for 8 with 2 of the place setting left in the middle where the tables touched instead of removing the extra settings and making it look persentable and like they cared. Our server was horrible! He acted as though we were an inconvince. He was more interested in his fellow, female, co worker. He said the bare minimum and tried getting us in and out as fast as possible. He didn’t smile once until dropping off the check. The ambiance was dark and depressing. Except for lights on top of the building that are blinding in the face. The food however was delicious, the chef came and spoke to us which was nice. If possible the server, Christopher is his name, didn’t deserve the tip. The kitchen deserved the tip.
It was my sisters bachelorette party and for being at a resort it was extremely disappointing. We were not impressed at all and will not be returning or recommending to anyone! We will definitely be staying and recommending JW Marriott Star Pass from now on!
We enjoyed a quiet evening meal at Azul; we ate on the patio which is a beautiful setting of the pool and the Catalina Mountains. My chicken dish was wonderful with a little southwest zip. The pork tenderloin was a real treat. Our service was excellent. A good selection of wines, but they are expensive in comparison to some other restaurants in the area.
Initially we were the only diners which was great. Our meal was delicious! The farmers market salad was so fresh, the New York strip was served with mashed potatoes, mushrooms, and vegetables and was just amazing. For dessert we had the red velvet with cream cheese that had a raspberry sauce that was to die for!

The Catalina Mountains gave a fine view. Our waiter was perfectly efficient and with the right touch of "friendly." The three of us took our first bites...excellent, we all agreed, and proceeded to have a very fine time, talking, eating--it built a good memory, for sure.
My family and I went for father's day brunch. When I called to make a reservation, I was told there would be a brunch buffet and bottomless mimosas for an extra $15/adult. When we got there we were told there was no brunch buffet at all and the bottomless mimosas were $20/adult. Our waitress was AMAZING and went far and beyond to try and help us. She did honor the $15/adult mimosas and let us order from the brunch menu even though that menu wasn't supposed to start until 11:00. The food was alright but not great. The only thing anyone of us were pleased with was our waitress. We were looking to try something different, but decided we will stay with the tried and true Sunday brunch buffet at another resort.
If I had eaten only the chocolate mousse desert, I would have given Azul "10's" on a scale of 1-5. It was marvelous. Perfect in fact.
The disappointment, and the reason for the mediocre rating is that the carnitas tacos were fairly tasteless ... the pork had no seasoning to speak of, and the addition of the pineapple salsa was too little and too late. Mind you the pork was nicely cooked and moist, just bland.
We stayed at the resort for one night after camping at the Grand Canyon. We wish we had stayed for another night. The grounds and outdoor restaurant ambiance were lovely. We didnt want to leave the resort. The food wasn't anything super great, but it was nice and we enjoyed the warm night and not going anywhere. The night hawks were out under the stars. We had the bass and fideo pasta with shrimp and lump crab. We also ordered the red velvet cake. The cake was excellent. The mains were were all lacking in some way. If you want to stay on site, I would order something simple or ask for a recommendation. The food was fresh. If you are looking for a great dining experience, this might not be your place. If you had a long day, the service and ambiance will hit the spot.
We were to celebrate our birthdays at Azul by having lunch. Perhaps it was just a bad day, but our service was inattentive from the beginning amd really never improved. Our server's attitude was wonderful when he was around. We never enjoy "hovering" but the length of our lunch was a bit much. To add to this, there was confusion about our bill which lead to two charges on our card. After additional time, 24 hrs. later, this situation has been resolved much to our satisfaction. We are grateful to Azul for this.
The lunch itself, although a bit pricey, was very tasteful and well-presented.
The setting of the restaurant is quite dramatic. Our hope in the future is that the service can be improved to match the environment.
The review is only for the breakfast buffet, as I have not either ordered from the breakfast menu or been at the restaurant for another meal. However, this is not the first time I have been to this restaurant for the Sunday brunch because of the location (La Paloma hotel). While the servers are friendly, the selection of foods for a buffet at as nice a hotel as this is paltry, at best. There is no part of the meal in which they excel -no omelette station, a meager selection of choices .... it is surprising that they even bother. The hilton and westward look, which are both nearby, put in a much superior effort. I hope they either rise to the reasonable expectations of the hotel's patrons or simply stick with a basic breakfast menu.
We were disappointed with the restaurant. It was listed as fine dining and we had place mats and the location in the Westin was exposed to the lounge above which was noisy. The view was wonderful and it would have been better if we were on the patio but as it was cool we were inside. It seemed a very casual spot with high prices that did not match the prices on the menu on the website. We wanted an intimate dining experience for a special occasion and this was not it. Our bread arrived after our meal was eaten. We were disappointed!
Perfectly located into center of the Westin La Paloma, this restaurant and bar set a beautiful scene for a romanic dinner, or perfect for a rehearsal dinner before that up coming wedding. There was one when my wife and I had dinner there. They have a wonderful selection on the menu for gluten free options as well.
The food and service were very good. We went there for Valentine's Day. My wife didn't say anything about it, but I was disappointed that for a special occasion the restaurant didn't use tablecloths instead of placemats. The value just wasn't there. We paid a premium price for a dinner that was just very good.
Azul was AMAZING! My fiance and I are used to fine dining and this was just that. The service, food and view was amazing. After our dinner, we walked around the resort and enjoyed the fireplace - what a BEAUTIFUL time, so romantic and beautiful! I can't wait to go back again.
Thought it would be a good birthday dinner with the family, turned out to be rather disappointing. The food was unusually bland - not just one plate - all of it. Started off with calamari - tasted like moist rubber. The soup was very bland, and did not improve with heavy seasoning done at the table. The vegetables were undercooked, and the NY steak overcooked. The Fillet was not bad, although not overly impressed.
Unfortunately, poor customer service seems to be a norm at the resort - slow, service all over. Didn't see the server much, and he didn't check back with us more than once during the entire meal. After the bottle of wine, we weren't offered another choice or bottle. Almost seemed like we were a burden to be there.
Too bad, we were looking forward to the 'best' restaurant at the resort.
Choose Contigo Kitchen over Azul at he Westin Tucson. The Azul is very basic and lower quality. service was good. if you want a quick bite just because you have to eat or you die, then dine here. The Contigo Kitchen on the resort is wayyy better in food quality, service and atmosphere.
Disappointing. Server did not know how to serve from the left and clear from the right. When asked about the choices, she leaned across the table to point with her pen. She did not provide a spoon for our friend's cereal. She never brought the O J included in the breakfast. Coffee was served lukewarm. Had to ask for a new pot. When server brought it back, she did not refill the cups. Surrounding tables were left unattended after use. Another female server's hair was in total disarray. Food was okay....but cereal choices were Cheerios, Corn Flakes etc.? You would think a resort of this caliber would serve a superior product. Chef's Omelet was bland and presentation lacking.
Very slow service. On a very slow night. Had the adobo fillet asking for it to be rare...came out medium well but it had taken so long it wasn't worth sending it back. Very average wine list as well With all of the options within 5 minutes it was disappointing evening in a lovely setting...
Food was delicious, but the rest of the experience was slightly lacking for the price point. We were sat at a round table for two that barely fit the large platters meals were served on and our drink glasses. We also couldn't comfortably place our feet underneath the table. It was quite dark and loud. Service was prompt and accurate, but the server seemed to be annoyed going through the menu verbally with every table (there are no printed menus as it changes daily.)
