AZN Restaurant - Charlotte Ratings and Reviews
My friends and I had vouchers because we have season tickets to the Blumenthal. A Pan-Asian restaurant is not something we would normally choose. I was pleasantly surprised at how many menu choices appealed to me. We had a super waiter whose name is Dimitri. He answered all our questions about the different menu items we were interested in and helped us use as much of our $25 as we could. We wound up ordering one of almost every dessert and we enjoyed sharing them.
We decided as a group that we would definitely return to this restaurant.
If you are at all hesitant, don't be. It is a wonderful dining experience.
The rating at the restaurant was a 90.5. The food that I had was okay. The salad did not look appealing as the letttuce was wilted. The manager (I assume that who he was) should have dressed more appealing. My co-worker had to send her food back twice and ended up not eating at all.
My husband and I really liked AZN. Alex was our server and she was great! We had happy hour items: general chicken, crispy calamari (so delicious!) and the blue crab sushi roll and salmon avocado roll. All was very good and tasted fresh! Would definitely recommend :)
This is my second time dining with my friends at AZN. We went before the dinner crowd and found it to be a very nice quiet meal. The service was very nice and attentive. We started with the edamame and spicy calamari. Both were tasty. I ordered the Seven Flavor Basil Beef. It was very good but lacked sauce. The server happily brought more out though. My dining mate ordered the Hong Kong Pan-Fried Noodle plate and really enjoyed it.
So this is one of the most unique situations I've ever been in for writing a review. I chose AZN Restaurant because I wanted someplace special for me and my date and I knew that she loved sushi. So I made a reservation for Friday night at 7:30pm. Well when I arrived, the restaurant was beautifully decorated and had soaring high ceilings and just had a good feel to it. It was however, missing one critical feature...people. There (literally) were only 2 other couples, just finishing up I might add, eating in the restaurant. Our server Alexander was very prompt, courteous and did a great job. Ten minutes into the meal, the other 2 couples finished up and for the remainder of our time there, we ate in complete isolation. Not one other person came into the restaurant. I had never experienced anything like this. The food was absolutely incredible in my opinion, beautifully prepared and tasted wonderful.
If it were based solely upon the food and service I would 100% recommend it to any and everyone I knew. Yet, if it was on the Ambiance I'd have to give a different answer.
Our party of 4 arrived at AZN Restaurant shortly before 5 PM last Sunday evening. AZN Restaurant is located near the end of Piedmont Row just a short block and a half south of Fairview Road in downtown Charlotte. Piedmont Row is quite impressive, appointed with an array of restaurants along the cobblestone sidewalks. Parking garages are abundant and many of the restaurants validate your parking receipt for you.
The interior of the AZN is a blend of Asian and contemporary decor surrounding a spiral staircase to the second floor. We were promptly seated in a booth next to the large glass windows on the first level. There is also abundant outdoor seating at this locale for those who enjoy outdoor dining.
My wife and the other 2 members of my group ordered the Lo Mein, while I opted for the Wan Chai Walnut Shrimp with white rice. We were all very pleased with the service and our dinner selections. The bill for my wife's dinner and mine came to a little over $36. We drank ice water, however, and did not order dessert. The portions were more than sufficient without ordering dessert.
I give the AZN Restaurant 4.3 out of a possible 5.0. If you enjoy excellent Asian food, this is a great spot for lunch or dinner.
My friend and I tried AZN during Charlotte Restaurant Week. It was a bit alarming that such a massive restaurant in an ideal location was almost completely empty, maybe 2 tables were seated in total. We ordered calamari as a starter, but it was brought out at room tempature and overlooked. It should never have been served. We informed our waitress who swiftly removed the plate, apologized, and brought us an alternative option. Looking at the normal menu it's obvious that this food is over priced....$18-22 for one sushi roll? I think not. There are way to many amazing little gem restaurants in Charlotte for me to pay inflated pricing for a subpar product at this restaurant.
normally i won't review restaurants that don't give out open table points, but we had a reward coupon, so i want to recognize that, and our server dmitriy, and all the other staff we interacted with were great- pleasant, enthusiastic -but not too over the top, and asked us about our experience, so it was was a terrific evening
We always get the Sushi Boat for Two and are never disappointed. Great selection of sushi. We tried the calamari appetizer and loved it. It wasn't greasy and was perfectly cooked. What I don't understand is why it's not mobbed. I have been there several times and it's never busy.
We went to AZN on a stormy Saturday night when the Charlotte Hounds lacrosse game we were attending got rained out.
There were five of us in our party, and every one of us was really happy with our meal. It was really flavorful and exactly as we'd each ordered it (spice level as requested, for example), and the ingredients were very fresh. The service was very good, too - available but not hovering, and we appreciated them being friendly and happy to serve us even as we were still there at 9:45 p.m. Our kids were tired by that time, and the smiling waitress took everything in stride.
We would definitely go back the next time we're in Charlotte. It certainly beats any of the Chinese we have available to us in Raleigh.
This restaurant is good for dates since it is quiet, you can talk and aren't required to yell to be heard. It was basically empty on the Saturday night before Easter and we enjoyed our Carmelized Salmon and the Trout special. Both were good but personally I found the Salmon more to my liking. Prices are reasonable, including beer prices and I am surprised this place is not busier. Service is good, too.
