Great variety, including tasty vegetarian options, which was the main objective for our guest.
Always an exceptional experience! The service and food are by far the best Indian experience in the state.
We had a delicious lunch. The waiter made recommendations when asked. I was able to convey the amount of spiciness and my meal was perfect.
Great food, Great service!
We'd heard good things and read the reviews; also one of us is vegan. The menu is not huge (a good thing) and has novel items on it. Example: Shiitake, Leek Tikkis. We were very pleasantly surprised by the wine list, which is extensive with some very well known vintages and labels. Thoroughly recommended.
Great Experience! The manager was attentive, checking in to ensure that we were being served well. The food was authentic with the right flavoring of spices that makes Indian food the gem that it is in any culinary repertoire.
we drive 2 + 1/2 hrs. each way JUST to dine there. Of course, we stay overnight near by.
Lamb Saag is not on the menu; but, they always create the dish especially for me. Husband enjoys the lamb shank...a huge portion of meat. It's the only Indian restaurant that does it perfectly. Service is impeccable! You wait for nothing...wine keeps getting poured when you least expect that service. Wine Spectator's awards line the entrance..since 2002.
It was a wonderful experience at Azitra. Best among all the Indian Restaurants in the Triangle Area. Will be back with friends.
Third time visit. Very special place. Lunch menu is quite extensive with great choices. Lamb was out of this world. Not everyday fare perhaps but fare to remember.
Great good and service as usual. It was worth 40 minutes of drive. Will be back again when their Patio will open in Spring.
One of the best kept secrets in Raleigh. The food is off the chart. I would encourage those who say they don’t like Indian cuisine to give Azitra a try as they will be pleasantly surprised.
Azitra also is able to customize to taste. Do you like more spicy and all vegetable or would you like beef? Try the Tandoori Tenderloin. Scallops are a smaller portion and fantastic.
The favorite for picky eaters is the Chicken Tika Masala.
Naan sampler for those not sure what bread to go with but my personal favorite is garlic naan.
For a cocktail, try Mumbai Rain. A sweet rum-based concoction.
Prices are higher than some restaurants but well worth it.
Terribly disappointing. We had so looked forward to our dinner after having several great meals here a few years ago. Primary problem was service, but food did not live up to expectations either. One of my pet peeves in fine dining establishments is for the wait staff to bring food to the table, announce the name of the dish, and then wait for the guests to tell him/ her whose plate it is! This is inexcusable especially when the waiter took the time to review each person's order. Here our waiter did not deliver the food, but rather sent someone else who acted as though we we're inconveniencing him when we did not immediately know whose meal was whose just based upon a mumbeled name of the entree. Then to top it off, the chicken and salmon were over cooked and the lamb vindaloo was all sauce and hardly had any meat. Overall a very unpleasant experience.
Overall a great experience, excellent service, nice wine list and great food.
Appetizers were ok...main course was very good. Will recommend this restaurant
Very good food with a nice atmosphere.
It is a great place for lunch and dinner.
Our food was very good but not great. We were underwhelmed. Maybe we will try something other than lamb mango and the lamb shank next time.
Me and my wife made reservations for valentines night. We were seated upon arrival. The waitress didn’t speak English very well, so there was a little trouble trying to explain exactly what we wanted. The food was too spicy after the waitress told us it was very mild. The waitress was not too attentive to our drinks and I had to ask for a refill. The lighting could have been a little dimmer. Another suggestion would be to play some jazz music while people are eating. Jazz music compliments the look of the restaurant. The conversations were so loud it sounded like I was in a high school cafeteria. The lamb chops were delicious.
Wife and I went to Azitra for Valentines Day. It was our 2nd time there. It is a great atmosphere and even better food and service. All the staff wore red for the holiday and despite it being busier than our previous time, the service and food were still perfect! The seared scallops and crab tak a tak appetizers were the best apps I have had possibly ever. The cocktails were amazing and the main course was flawless. Cannot recommend enough!
Nice Indian food. Reminded us of food we enjoyed while living in Hong Kong. Well done. We plan to return soon.
Exceptional experience as always!! It could not have been any better!!
Everything was fine. Food and service especially. The noise level where we were seated was too high. We were up against a wall sandwiched between two very loud groups. The next time we go we’ll ask for a table in a more open spot. But we will definitely return.
We enjoyed our date night at Azitra. The food was fabulous as always. There was clearly an issue in the kitchen on the evening we were there as our food arrived almost an hour after we were seated. The manager was very graciously and apologized to us for the wait without us saying anything and he gave us two complimentary glasses of the wine we were drinking. We thought that they handled the situation very well and appreciated their customer service to keep us happy.
Continues to offer excellent food at a fair price. Wine glasses are "Riedel"; tablecloths and cloth napkins. Extensive menu. Impressive wine list. What's not to like?
We love this restaurant. Food is good, service good and pleasant surrounds.
The staff was VERY mediocre! My husband and I didn't get refills unless we asked, they didn't pick up plates before delivering the next course. And one of the waitresses had a very nasty attitude. Needless to say we will not be returning to this restaurant.
This is the best Indian restaurant I've been to in Raleigh (and I've been to many in London). They have excellent traditional dishes as well as more modern Indian fusion. Interesting hand crafted cocktails. Variety of non-spicy dishes for those who need that. ~$100 for 3 people with 1 cocktail, 3 appetizers, 3 main dishes + plenty of rice.
Wonderful experience dining with ethnic Indian food
Good food and service.
My fiancée and I visited Azitra with a family friend for a nice meal. The food at Azitra is always good, however one of our servers (we had 5 different people) gave us our food while his cell phone was ringing loudly in his pocket. Another server was very rude and seemed not well trained. Later in the evening it became very noisy because it is a popular spot to dine.
Overall the restaurant is lovely, the food is excellent, but the service is a mixed bag.
Great food and service as always! So consistently great.
Wonderful food & the waitress was great with recommendations! Definitely worth another visit.
Excellent restaurant with great Indian food and terrific service. We return about once a month. The wait-staff are terrific. Special occasions are catered to in an attentive manner. The drinks are first class. We love this restaurant,
Our waitress seemed to be in a bad mood during our visit. She was not friendly and we were rushed. Not enough chicken in our butter chicken or our tika masala. Disappointed with this dinner and service.
My daughters and I love Azitra for a special lunch or daughter treat. We always like to start off with the cherry naan which is always amazing. The waitstaff is always fabulous about their recommendations.
Very good Indian restaurant . We have been in this restaurant several times and quality is pretty good and consistent . Food was delicious as usual but service average
The food was wonderful service was just a touch too sparce. Biggest complaint would be that the Chicken Tika Masala was a bit too mild. I don't remember which chicken dish my wife got but it was spiced spot on. Next time I'll know to ask for it spicy.
Azitra is such a pretty restaurant. The food is fantastic and the service is friendly. The restaurant is a nice upscale alternative.
The ambiance at Azitra is great. But the food is average at best and the service is often brusque, as if they are doing you a favor to just show up. Because the ambiance is so good, expectations are higher than they would be otherwise. The menu is extensive, but overly ambitious. I ordered "Tulsi Scented Salmon" (described at "Basil Marinated Salmon Fillet, Spiced Coconut Crème, Sautéed Vegetables"). But what I got was grilled, very dry and over-spiced. My wife ordered Vegetable Biryani. Her's was mostly just rice with very few vegetables to be seen. We really wanted to like Azitra but having now been there several times and encountering the same issues each time, we won't likely return.
Brunch is a great deal!
My wife and I eat out very often looking for higher rated places around town. We were going to the Briar Creek area for shopping, so picked Azitra due to its high #66 ranking. We made the reservation over Open Table. When we arrived, the place was completely empty at 5:15. Normally, highly ranked restaurants are packed. We stood at the front entrance for at least five minutes waiting to be noticed. Once we sat down, it took at least ten minutes for someone else to take our drink order. We were close to leaving, when the waiter finally showed up to take our appetizer and meal order. The food was OK. We ordered off the contemporary menu, not being familiar with their offerings. The salmon was delicious at first then, within minutes, became mushy in the sauce. My wife's chicken was the opposite, dry. The crab appetizer was very good. But the cauliflower appetizer was just breaded whatever. When we were done, we had to ask for assistance to bring us the check as the waiter was nowhere to be found, like usual. Our tab was $95 before tip including $13 for two drinks. To top off the miserable experience, they reported us to Opentable as a no show. We later found out that they were good for lunch but stay away for dinner. It is hard to believe that places can stay open when this bad. How they get good ratings is also hard to understand. This experience makes us seriously wonder about the Yelp ratings process. We found the restaurant through Yelp.
