Azie in Media Ratings and Reviews
We just went to Azie, Saturday, June 11th. We were seated immediately and waited at least 20 minutes and not one person came near our table to give us water, a menu...There were people that came in after us and were waited on immediatetly. We got up and walked out after about 20-25 minutes. The worst thing is that no one even noticed!
Although the food is quite good, I find that the experience could be improved with more personal service. The serving staff paid no attention to us at all very business like in getting us in and out. I do appreciate the person from the kitchen staff who pointed out options suitable for a vegan!
We went for brunch and it was great! Very different from the normal brunch that you find since there was an assortment of sushi, sashimi, shrimp, etc. but still had the staples such as eggs, bacon, french toast, etc. The food was amazing the service was great! I can't wait to try it for dinner!
Dinner for two, with a short stop at the bar where the the affable Juan took quite good care of us. Dinner sparkled as we sampled the Tempura Rock Shrimp and the delectable Crab Cakes on this visit. Wait service could shine a smidge more, but was adequate on this particular evening. Azie has an eclectic menu and having visited many times - this reviewer highly recommends a complete tasting tour (Soups, Sushi, Meat, Fish and sides ...) as the food never disappoints.
This was my 5th visit but first in a small group with my wife. Tried several sushi rolls which were all excellent [and chef was willing to accommodate our special requests] and then numerous appetizers and two entrees. The crab fried rice was very unique and the Clilian Sea Bass was one of the best entrees I've ever had. Sweet potato fries were fun and the drinks were well prepared and fairly priced. I would add that we were disappointed when entrees came out right on top of salad/appetizers but waiter recovered well. Acoustics have something to be desired as open stairwell bring bar noise right up to 2nd story. With all this --- we will return as the food makes up for any other shortcomings!
Overall, dinner at Azie was very good and our "girls night out" dinner was enjoyable. The food is very good. I have two complaints. First, service seemed to be a bit slow for a Tuesday night. We waited for nearly 10 minutes before our server even introduced herself, and then it took another 10 for us to get our drinks. She then seemed to work through a larger table and things improved. Secondly, we ordered a bottle of wine from the menu. When the bottle came, it was not only not a 2007 but was a 2009. Two years difference and not even a mention of it by the server. I asked to speak to someone about it, and the manager did come over and give us a story about why they gave me the wrong vintage. Because of the error, I was given $10 off.
We had an great experience at Azie and highly recommend to sushi lovers. The only things we noticed were that several patrons did not seem to adhere to the dressy/upscale dress code - baseball hats on backwards and sweatpants? Also the hostess forgot about us as we waited for our table, we had to go and remind her and surprisingly our table was immediately available.
Food was exceptional. Service was great. We had Ashley for service. She was well versed on everything on the menu. Since this was our first time at this restaurant, she was very helpful in assisting us in making selections. Her bright smile and enthusiasm enhanced the meal!!
Azie sparkled last week at every turn, host, wait, service, presentation - a top notch effort. One tiny infraction - our waitress assured me the bartender knew what a crown royal stiletto was. Let's just say it shouldn't be made with anything "banana" flavored or colored in it. The drink order was quickly remedied and the evening proceeded flawlessly. Started with some well constructed and tasty Sushi rolls as a group appetizer. The special roll of the night wasn't fortunate enough to earn a name yet, but it included a seafood spring roll inside and was amazing. My guess is it will make it to the regular menu soon. We ordered lots of sides and just one dinner (the day boat scallops) all were spectacular.
Azie has the best mix of Asian fusion food that I've found. The lunch specials are extremely affordable for such high quality of food (dinner can get pricey depending what you order, but not overwhelming); the sushi special and the tempura udon are authentic and tasty! It can get crowded during the peak lunch and dinner hours, but I always feel cosy at my table, and conversation can be carried on easily. Service is very friendly and responsive, and the staff is knowledgeable about the dishes. Highly recommended!
Mediterranean-Asian fusion in theory, but menu reads much more like a Japanese restaurant. Sushi is very good - best in Media by a landslide. Salads and appetizers are delicious and we saw a lot of people sharing appetizers tapas-style for their dinner - might try that next time. A bit of a hip(ish) bistro scene, small tables close together in the main dining room, noisy and energetic. Service seemed a little pushy - barely sat down when she asked us if we wanted appetizers. But will definitely go back.
The decor was nice, but not ground breaking. This restaurant was a find in Media which isn't really known as having a vibrant dining scene. Overall this is about an average experience. The portions were good - not too much not too little. The food wasn't anything to write about, it is what you might expect from an upper scale Asian fusion restaurant and the prices are reasonable for such an expectation.
I was a little disappointed that they did not have wasabi mashed potatoes anymore, but got over it real quickly with how the garlic mashed potatoes tasted. The steaks melted in our mouths. The ambiance was great for Valentine's day. Would definately recommend to a friend.
My wife and I have gone to Azie several times now. Azie has great food and a great atmosphere, whether you're going on a date with your sweetheart or a large group of friends. In the summer the rooftop dining is incredible. Service is friendly, fast (but not careless), and efficient. The food is outstanding; some of the best sushi that I've ever had.
We are BIG sushi fans and this place is one of the best sushi places we have ever been too! My husband and I agree that the Azie roll is the best roll we have ever had. If you are local to Media you have to try this place. We had the crab and cream cheese spring rolls, the Spicy tuna cruch roll, the Azie roll and the crab pad thai. Each one was fantastic! Prices were a little on the high side but it was worth every penny. The ambiance was like being at a restuarant in Philly. Awesome!
Have eaten at Azie numerous times and have not had a bad experience yet. A unique menu with changes made regularly to avoid staleness.
Nice, energetic atmosphere with very nicely done decor.
We were there 3 hrs. and they never once were hurried or pressured to leave.
First sat down and guy who brought water said nothing just poured water and walked away. Not very crowded but waitress took a long time to take our order. When sushi came had to ask for to pour soy sauce, which took a while to get waitress's attention. Food was very good.
