Axia Taverna Ratings and Reviews
Went to Axia to celebrate my birthday. It is a casual but attractive restaurant The food was very good & nicely presented..the appetizers were excellent. Service was attentive. I would definitely return to try additional main courses although my seafood & feta cheese in tomato sauce was good enough to order , again. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to friends.
Felt like a very classy restaurant. Food and drinks were delicious although a little overpriced for the amount. Our server was very difficult to communicate with- she mostly didn't understand us. We had to point to the items several times. I guess because it was busy service was a bit slow.
We have been going to Axia since it opened years ago. Recently they added a few special items that we love. The Pita app is delish and the new Tuna entree is also very good.
The night we were there the server was a little frazzled but otherwise it was another delicious meal.
We loved our meal of octopus sliders for an appetizer (delicious!!) and the soft shell crabs special entrée and tuna off the regular menu, both cooked perfectly. We enjoyed a great bottle of Greek wine suggested by Tim. Very pleasant and professional service. We highly recommend Axia and look forward to returning.
This was my first visit to this restaurant and I was impressed with food and service. I had the shrimp and orzo dish which was delicious. We had the flming cheese appetizer and the baklava ice cream sandwich h for dessert Yummy! Definitely will go there again!
Service and people were the best thing about Axia. Then it was the interior and ambience. However, food came out very slow even though it was not crowded. Lobster was overcooked, but lamb and orzo were great. The food was just okay overall and poor value for the money in my opinion. The dessert was the best part about the food.
The whole meal took about 2 and 1/2 hours, so a bit longer than our typical meal but at least we didn't feel rushed at all.
I only give the service a medium score, since they ignored my request of honoring a birthday celebration, as well as a request for a better table. I believe that Maitre D's ought to follow up and inform the parties of their decision, especially if they are unable to honor it.. then I would understand. But instead, there was no follow up whatsoever, so, I couldn't recommend this place for special occasions.
I chose this place because it was highly recommended by a friend. You don't often find an upscale greek restaurant in the area. It was good for a change. Everything went well until the wait staff carried out our food, he carried the big tray over our table and passed us. It scared me for a second. Next thing I noticed was the manager of the restaurant was scolding the wait staff right by our food plates. They were having this heated conversation (or scolding) around the food tray. I think he should have waited until our food was served then carry on his business. I was afraid he might spit on our food (Unintentionally). That would be really bad. A bit of disappointment. Not sure I would go back...
