Been here several times in the last few years and it used to be so good…it started to decline last three years but last night was the worst…our waiter was clearly not enjoying his job, there had been a large party earlier and apparently everyone ordered octopus so when we arrived for our reservation at 7pm the octopus was gone. Running out or octopus at a Greek restaurant is definitely a negative.
Food was sub par, bland and unexciting. The best thing we had was the spanakopita, the smoked cheese pita, Greek sangria and the kefalograviera…everything else was underwhelming. Way too pricey for the quality of food and service.
Sadly, we won’t return.
We had to rate the service fair, but to be fair we realize the employee problem for all restaurants. The service was very slow but good. The lack of help is affecting all businesses.
Still one of the best restaurants in North Bergen County!
I didn’t feel last night was at Axia’s usual high standards. The service was incredibly slow and the food was not up to par. My chicken was on the dry side. The wait staff did a lot of standing around and talking.
Delicious meal! Will return
they have upgraded their ambience - very modern and contemporary. The renovations for outdoor seating are charming and pretty. Food consistently remains good. Warm and welcoming
Disappointing food this time-usually much better
We were a party of 5, had to wait 75 min to hear from the waitress that that they ran out of one of the main courses. We requested to speak to a manager who did not bother to come throughout dinner. We received our main course replacement 90 min into the dinner, which was completely burned. A very poor experience on a Sunday evening
Beautiful restaurant, service was o.k.-not great
Food was excellent.
The octopus and zucchini chip appetizers were excellent as was seafood and orzo main course.
The special fish dish (cod) was soggy. and overcooked.
Consistently good food and service!
Excellent attention to diners; friendly and courteous. Food was beautifully presented and delicious. Beautiful surroundings; partitions give a wonderful feeling of privacy.
Sat Outside. Very comfortable. Great service. Fell safe.
Always have a great time here
Just the most delicious food served elegantly!
This was my second time there and it was just as good as the first!
The meal was the best food I’ve had in a long time.
The outdoor venue was like being in a lush garden. Axia will by my special occasion place to bring guests.
Food was very good service was great just saw why they left Glen Rock on value
Always a favorite!
Great as always.
We always have a delicious and enjoyable meal at Axia. The staff is eager to please and the owner is sweet as pie. Great food. Great wine.
Excellent as always, atmosphere very nice, good for occasions and business meetings in Tenafly. Only slight negative this time was the server-in-training was a little raw, but hopefully she'll learn.
Excellent food and service as always!
It has beautiful Aegean island style decor, beautiful building with outdoor area and an ambiance that holds so much potential. The food however was disappointing. The appetizers were tasty (horiatiki, grilled octopus and loukaniko). The main entrees were horrible - serving bifteki in an English muffin as a hamburger (chopped meat served at medium when we asked for well done); lemon potatoes (a Greek dinner staple) that were not authentic lemon potatoes but simply roasted potatoes; a really great pork chop that was too salty and a grilled branzino that was unseasoned served with broccoli rabe that was bitter because it wasn’t boiled to get the bitterness out. The dessert was certainly not Greek. Baklava with a ton of cinnamon and hardly any walnuts that seemed like a failed attempt at a first time baker and a galaktompouriko that was dry with the semolina being heavy custard (a beginner’s fail)and no syrup….like none….the dessert is custard, phyllo and syrup. That’s it. That’s like apple pie missing the apples. I wanted to love this place and have that one Greek place that was my go to. Unfortunately it was a dub unless they get better cooks and a legitimate Greek baker which every Greek diner in NJ has. I’m so confused by this place being so pricy and so mediocre. I can’t eat ambiance.
The selection of white wine by the glass was simply not in keeping with the restaurant (especially since their main decor feature are beautiful wine rack displays. As for the food, the salads were a far cry from acceptable, Branzino was great while the Red Snapper was tough. Not a place that we would return to.
Food is tasty and of high quality….We sat outside and it was a pleasant experience. We arrived at 6:30 and our main meal was not served until 8:30 pm. No reason was given.
Food is authentic and high-quality, but uniformly overpriced, like many such places.
Would go there only if willing to “splurge”.
Good value. One could dine by ordering just a wide selection of appetizers. My partner ordered the branzino, and it was especially good.
Usually Axia is our go to place. But the red snapper was not cooked. It was inedible. And the Dover Sole was overcooked and tough. Also not deboned. For $52 you would expect a well cooked fish.
It’s great that it’s crowded and doing so well, but the service was slow.
Food was very good, but a little bit overpriced. It was very long time waiting for a service and food. Very nice outside seating with colorful paintings on a parking area.
REALLY DELICIOUS FOOD, MADE RESERVATIONS 2 DAYS BEFORE AND WAS ABLE TO RECEIVE THE ACCOMMODATIONS.
Waitress failed to tell us the specials.
We had the lamb chops and grilled chicken. Everything was great and greek style. We arrived earlier and good thing as it was getting busy by 7 pm. Service was good. The place itself is nice and many safe features including plexiglass between tables.
Always dependable. Service a little slow since place was very busy.
Great dinner and service
Dined inside in a modern attractive space. They have also converted the parking area into a very colorful dining space. I understand that they hired students to paint the asphalt which adds tremendous color and totally transformed their outdoor seating area. The food was delicious and their service was excellent.
Love this place. Consistently excellent…from the food to the service. Axis delivers a comfortable elegance that keeps me coming back
My Octopus was excellent. We had a great bottle of Greek Cabernet....very reasonably priced. The Outdoor dining area is lovely and well distanced from other tables. The waiter was very friendly and accomodating.
My husband and I enjoyed an enjoyable early Sunday dinner at this restaurant yesterday. It was our first time dining here and were extremely impressed. We ate inside in the beautiful dining room as it was just too hot to eat outside. Service was excellent! We enjoyed a reasonably price bottle of red Greek wine. There was a really nice selection of wine both buy the bottle sent by the glass. We also enjoyed the Stuffed grape leaves appetizer and our meals call today lame and roast chicken. We look forward to dining at this restaurant again and hopefully can experience the beautiful outdoor patio.
An excellent place to eat superbly and have a good time. The food, ambience and service are top of the line. Tim - the manager and wine connoisseur par excellence - makes sure it all goes smoothly and overlooks his staff with care demanding the best they can give. Great place since day one and continues to be top notch all these years. We're big fans.
Lovely setting and atmosphere. Food was spot on! Will come back again!
