Avvio embodies the essence of everyday Italian dining; a place where friends and family gather, share laughs and celebrate milestones. As always, the Newport Restaurant Group’s focus on simple ingredients are on display, sourced both locally and directly from Italy. Prepared with distinct, yet traditional cooking techniques, Avvio’s menu feature inspired Italian classic dishes along with Neapolitan pizzas and a wood-fired grill.

AVVIO Ratings and Reviews
I have dined before at a few of the other Newport Restaurant Group restaurants and have always the best experiences. When I saw that Avvio was part of it, I was really looking forward to dining there too. From the process through open table by making a reservation, being seated with no wait at a great round table with surrounding windows was amazing. Our waitress, Allegra was so accommodating, informative, and just treated us like gold throughout our stay. The menu is balanced with an Italian flare from sandwiches, pizza, salads and entrees with freshly made pasta. I had the shrimp scampi which was so flavorful as almost each bit was guarenteed shrimp with spinach and fresh pasta in each bite. My husband had the spaghetti and meatballs, consisting of 4 generous sized meatballs and a application of ricotta in the center of the fresh pasta. We ordered a margheritta pizza which is delivered within minutes and the sauce consisting of freshly made plum tomato n garlic and basil with fresh mozzarella on top. Mystic on had a burger and fries which normally has parmesan on them, he preferred no cheese. My daughter's bf had calzone that had sausage n veggies, accompanied w a side of fresh sauce and a generous Caesar salad on the side. Lastly, my daughter modified her meal which Allegra was graciously making sure she had everything down pat towards my daughter's requests. After enjoying the ambience, meal and company Allegra brought out a double chocolate cake slice with caramel sea salt gelato and a birthday candle delivered to my daughter's boyfriend for his birthday. I had included the message in my open table request that it was his birthday. His dessert was on the house and was just such a nice way to end our outing. The manager that night made his rounds , stopped by our table was very pleasant too. You get the feel of pride from all that work at Avvio. Love, Love, Love AVVio and will definitely be back soon!
Great stop for lunch this time. We have dined here several times since they opened and have never been disappointed. Plenty of great choices, always very good service, always very good. We arrived about 45 minutes early for our reservation and were seated immediately anyway. Very accommodating, again, as expected. As always, we will be back sooner than later.
We went for Restaurant Week so it was a special menu ... however it was fabulous - couldn’t wait to eat my left overs the next day! The portions were impressive. Our server, Brian, was outstanding. The manager made it a point to come to the table and ask if we were satisfied. We will definitely be back.
The service was excellent and the menu has something for every taste. We both ordered the grilled swordfish. The meal arrived quickly and tasted great. The portion size was a bit small for the price but not so much as to say it was a bad value. Overall a good night. Would more than likely return but not racing to the door.
We weren't overly impressed with the food. It was also pricey for lunch. We wanted to try it because it was part of the Newport Restaurant Group. One of us had the calzone and it was just ok. The Rigatoni Bolognese was good but the pasta was overcooked. The salads were good. The chicken parm sandwich was just ok. Maybe we would come back if there was some sort of lunch special. Definitely not for everyday dining.
Avvio has become a family favorite. The atmosphere provides just the right balance of casual to elegant, depending on your mood. But the real stars are the staff and the food...both are always outstanding each time we visit; I cannot say enough good things about both. We celebrated a birthday on our most recent visit. The food and the service were spectacular...the calamari is among the best I've had anywhere in MA or RI...and the Italian entrees are on par with Boston's North End or Federal Hill! We're looking forward to our next visit!
Went for Christmas Eve and the whole experience was amazing. Our server was a gentleman and made the evening very enjoyable. Our meals were impeccable, made perfectly to each preference. The environment was friendly and inviting. While they were busy it wasn’t loud and didn’t ruin the experience. I highly recommend Avvio for any upcoming dates, special occasions, or just because.
Although my reservation was made through Open Table and confirmed via email, upon my arrival Avvio did not have record of it. However, they were able to seat us at a table by the window as I had requested. I don't know why they didn't have the reservation. Their reply was that they may have deleted it. All in all, dinner was great.
We made a reservation and were sat immediately upon arrival. The food was very good, we delayed submitting our entrees until the appetizers arrived as we have had some recent bad experiences at other restaurants of lesser caliber. We were not pressured or rushed and our server (Jordan?) was excellent.
We frequent many of the Newport Restaurant Group establishments as we live in the Newport area and this one did not disappoint. We will return.
