Friends in from out of town
I always enjoy AVli. Great Greek food. Service is good, though occasionally too fast. Good wine and beer list.
We celebrated Greek Easter at Avli. Friendly service, wonderful specials for the holiday and delicious food. We’ll be back.
Avli offers a number of very tasty greek dishes, salads and a number of outstanding wines.
I highly recommend the lamb shank.
Equally as impressive is the attentive, friendly service.
All in all, a delightful dining experience.
We love Avli and try to get there as often as possible. No question the best Greek food north of the city. Always wonderfully taken care of by the wait staff we love bringing new people to this restaurant.
Went for a girlfriend's birthday dinner. Beautiful restaurant: elegant decor, good lighting, plenty of space between tables. Love the food. Good variety on the menu for all sorts of preferences and they accommodated my friend to switch something on her order. The service is EXCEPTIONAL. Our attentive and kind waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and gave good recommendations. Only slight disappointment was that cocktails were either too sweet or too high in alcohol context. When 2 of us did not care for our drinks, our waiter offered to exchange for another one. Very customer service focused. Impressed; will definitely be back.
Excellent and imaginative food in a tranquil and pleasant served by lovely staff.
perfect 3rd birthday dinner for my daughter!
Intially there was confusion because the host could not find my reservation thru open table. However, I showed him my confirmation on the Open Table APP and they honored our reservation on a very busy Saturday night. We shared many items. All were excellent. Particularly the grilled Octopus appetizer and the Seafood Orzo stood out. Our waiter did not push us thru which was very appreciative.
Great place to catch up with family and friends. We did a couple night this time. The service is amazingly fast and top of everything. They get really busy on the weekends so book ahead. They food is healthy and light. The portions can be large enough to share so ask about the size.
Have been to Avli on several occasions. Always delicious and the wait staff is very knowledgeable and attentive!
Delicious food and Great ambiance! Friendly and attentive service. Menu provides wide price range.
Everyone in our party thought the meal was exceptional.
The food is always reliably good here and usually the service is too. This visit we were seated 20 minutes before anyone took a drink order and they got a couple things wrong in the order. They graciously fixed everything though. Will definitely go back.
Luckily not so busy on a snowy Friday night. Our waiter was very attentive and efficient. We had the seafood with orzo and the lamb loin chops. The portions are quite large, but we had enough of each dish after about half was eaten. They lacked a bit of interest. Taramosalata on pita to start is a must. Watch out for your neighbor's saganaki flames!
Business lunch during the week — light crowd in the dining room was ideal to conduct conversation. Whitefish came well prepared and the roasted broccoli was a highlight. Large portions too. Reasonable prices. No children in sight.
Great time at Avli. Went with four female friends. Easy to get to and park. Great menu. Something for everyone from light salads to fish and flaming cheese! All very authentic. Service was attentive and friendly. We’d definitely go back again.
First time for us and pleased with the service, staff and food. Reasonably priced as well. We’ll be there again.
This is one of our favorite restaurants. Everything on the menu is fantastic. On this particular visit, the service wasn't great, but we have been there many times before and it was fine. We will be back.
It’s difficult to find restaurants these days where one doesn’t have to yell to be heard across the table. Avli has a pleasant ambiance and noise level. The food is excellent. I still think about their lamb salad. It’s delicious! When I have not made reservations and want to find a perfect place to go to dine and talk with a friend, I am glad Avli is in the neighborhood. The restaurant is large too so it’s possible to get tables on weekend nights without a reservation.
Really tasty food and very good service!
We were very disappointed on this occasion. We had an early reservation but they were already out of fish leaving only the “special “ as an option. The food was mediocre and the restaurant cold. This restaurant has always been our go to for Greek food-but we won’t be rushing back anytime soon.
In the winter the patio is enclosed with heavy structural tent canvas and heated. The radiant heating in the floor was welcomingly toasty but the two wall mounted heaters had trouble keeping the cold outside air from encircling our shoulders. We love the patio but next time we will make sure to ask not to be seated against an outside wall. The service was very attentive and we found the option of small plates (small portions) to be a wonderful way to try the many recipes and make our own "tapas" style meal. We wish we lived closer so we could visit more often.
I have been to Avli many times in the past. It has been a while since dining there. Something has drastically changed. The food was terrible!!! I will never return.
I have always had fantastic experiences at Avli. The food is authentic and delicious, the wine list is interesting, and the service is outstanding and genuine. The prices are also very reasonable. I look forward to returning many times!
Food was very good. Maitre de was really poor. Asked my name and spelling seven times and really was not paying attention to my presence. Will not go there again. Attitude was very poor. Plenty of other good places to go with a much better attitude.
This restaurant had been recommended by a survey in a magazine. Very disappointed with the food and the service was barely there. Won't be going back again. Out of the 5 things ordered, 2 were noteworthy. Not worth the money.
We are frequent guest at Avli over three or four years.
ALWAYS enjoy. Well-prepared dishes + superb/attentive service.
Looking forward to our next visit.
My husband ordered Beefeater martini--nope not what he got. They then said out of BE so try this one--nope it was same as the supposed one. Artichoke app was dry a lot of lemon and 3 capers on what was advertised as lemon & caper. Husband's scallop & pasta entrée had 4 kind of thin scallops & a lot of pasta. Flatbread app was just OK dry. Shrimp in shredded phyllo another app, arrived room temp & when I bit into it--shrimp was grey=raw. Sent it back with broccoli that was too raw. Both arrived back when Husband was finishing his entrée. Shrimp was fine when I cut.
We are very accepting diners--this was NOT acceptable especially the martini change out. Will not return. Waiter, Peter was fine however he should be more aware of what he is serving.
I've been to this restaurant many times in the past, so it had been about a year since my last visit. It's clearly a tired place, with frayed menus, stained walls, and, to my mind, is a victim of complacency. It has its followers, but with numerous more engaging restaurants in the area, I suggest the owner(s) start refreshing the place. Good service, good food, as always, but tired in appearance.
Great food. Highly recommend the salmon in parchment and their beet salad.
I have been a fan of Avli for many years. I haven't been there for a while and was disappointed with my experience. Some of my favorites were missing from the menu, the service was spotty, had to ask for water multiple times, the waiter was not friendly.
The food was not hot, somewhat sparse portions and just not as good as I remembered. Truly a disappointment to a loyal Avli patron.
We dine @ Avli multiple times per year and we are always pleased.
Dishes are imaginative and well present.
Service is admirable.
Always good food and good service. Recent renovation seems to have reduced noise levels.
Always love Avli ... mostly the outdoor area even in the winter. It's nice and quiet with the fountains running for ambiance.
Waiter was excellent and so was the food.
You cannot beat this place for
Very disappointing to come to an 8 pm dinner reservation on a Saturday evening and have the first choice entree and second choice not in stock. I don’t need the waiter to tell me they fed 250 people before I came in. It is a Saturday evening and they should know their customer base, they didn’t last night. I also don’t care that they fed 250 people before our party came in, your customer wants to feel like they are important, not a number. Then what I did eat was bland and over cooked. Don’t think I’ll be going back.
I would give this place a second chance, but the night we were there, they experienced some kind of power outage and it reeked of spoiled fish. They had a display case with salmon and octopus (among other things) that looked very unappetizing. The waiter's English as a distant second language did not inspire confidence when he was answering questions about the smell and the potential effect on the food. Also, there was a number of puddles on the floor of the room (which would be unenclosed outdoors during summer). Having said all of that, we obviously stuck to non-seafood (or at least fresh seafood) options. The Chicken kabobs were pretty good, but a little too salty. The hummus was very good, as was the Greek salad. My date got the shrimp kabobs that were also pretty good.
Avli’s got good food & good drinks reasonably priced.
