Megan, our server, timed our food perfectly. The flounder Romesco is an entree I will have again.
Avenue's food and service are always outstanding.
Avenue's is our "go to" venue for any celebration.....as well as, just to have a nice meal in pleasant surroundings.
Just good food @ good price range. Just a Sunday night dinner out❤️
Everything was delicious and out waiter was fabulous.
Great food and great service. We loved it. Will be back.
I don’t understand, this used to be a good place. The food was bland and the service was poor. We should have known better when a place is less than half full on a Saturday night in KC. We won’t be back again.
Hollandaise LOOKS like Hollandaise but tastes nothing like it. Potatoes were dry and boring. Croissant was also dry, not in the least bit flaky, and had none of the familiar butter flavor a proper one should have. I ordered my eggs over easy and got one over easy, one over medium. Bloody Marys were good, blood orange bellini pretty bitter. It was terribly noisy because apparently there was some kind of bridal shower or bachelorette party during brunch and that resulted in loud, screamy young women. We had to yell over our table to each other. $30 with tip and I left feeling like I just ate at a wannabe continental restaurant. I don't get what all the fuss is. That Hollandaise - yuck.
Server was good and attentive (Emma) and met all our service needs beautifully. Best thing about the experience.
My halibut with shrimp was fine. My husband said his filet was okay. But we had some problems communicating with the server. I asked for no sauce on my meal. I got sauce. We had trouble clarifying which wines we wanted. Still, her attitude was very pleasant. She just needs a little training or some experience. But the restaurant was very noisy. That is the main reason we wouldn't recommend it.
Great service, reasonably priced, nice lunch offerings/deals.
My salad was supposed to have avocado in it and it was missing. I mentioned at the end ‘was my dish supposed to have avocado in it’ just to make sure I was correct and she confirmed, she offered to bring it out Togo so I would still get my avocado since I had leftovers. I thought that was nice.
Salad was great, fish (the halibut) was quite bland- not seasoned.
Would come again for the deals and offers and to try some other menu items
Even though this is the lowest rating I’ve ever given I will give Avenues Bistro another chance. The location is wonderful, the seating was perfect and the atmosphere was superb. The service was abysmal. The hostess even apologized because she couldn’t find our waitress. We had to ask for coffee from another waiter because our waitress only filled two cups and never returned. Our entrees arrived after an hour and they were beautiful but cold. The cheese on the omelette had oil starting to bead up. If I was the chef I would have been furious that my food was served that way.
I want to return only to prove that this was the exception. I really want this to be our go to brunch place but I was embarrassed that our guests had this kind of experience in KC.
Avenue's is consistently the BEST.
I can't think of a better place to celebrate or just have a great dining experience.
We are former Kansas City residents who now live in Florida. Every time we come back to visit K.C., we make sure to make reservations at Avenues Bistro. We have never been disappointed! The food is always superior quality (the brussel sprouts w/ cheese and bacon are amazing!). The nightly specials seem to have something for everyone--we recently were there for Steak Night--beef medallions of filet, done just right. And we got a great deal on a Chardonnay from the wine list. We will definitely be back!
Great place for brunch or cocktails would return when I'm in KC again.
The Manager was extremely rude when we walked in. I have worked in the service industry for many years, and I have never encountered a manager like her. When we walked in, I informed her that we had just added one extra person to our party of 6. It was completely out of the blue and having back ground knowledge of the industry, I knew that one extra person does not make that much of a difference. The manager said straight to my face "I really hate it when you do that, because I don't even have room for it". Mind you it was NOT busy. After 5 minutes the host came a got us, and we were seated. The table was great, it wasn't tight at all, so clearly there was PLENTY of room for our party. My friends french toast came out completely soggy, and she waited 25+ more minutes for a new one to be brought out to her. The same manager took half off the bill, but by the time my friend got her food back it needed to be put in a togo box because every one else was already done. Overall, the staff and the manager that was on duty that day was a complete let down. I will not be returning to this restaurant and I hope that the manager is less of a sporadic mess for her next shift, because she was completely unprofessional. HONESTLY THE ABSOLUTE WORST.
After remodeling, back room is noisy when crowded. Need soft things to break up the sound waves and soften the din
Just okay, is not okay pretty much sums it up. It was nothing special. Server knocked over the water while trying to reach clear across the table instead of going around. The food was decent and we enjoyed dinner with our friends. But won't go back. Better options in Brookside and certainly within a 10 minute radius of this place.
Had family in town for a visit and we had the perfect brunch outing! Everything was wonderful and our server was great!!
It was steak night. Our reservation was 7:00. They were out of KC Strip and Bake Potatoes and the place was more than half empty. Our food was hardly warm. There was 4 of us. One send there steak back. Another friend order the Ribeye had so much fat! There something going there. Sever was very apologetic even manager came to our table. We will never go back and it use to be one of our favorite places. My husband was smart and did order a steak but his lobster ravioli was just warm.
It was great. The group was there at 4:00 and a couple of people ordered the sweet potato waffle fry nachos and the server came out and said that they were out of the sweet potato fries. How can you be out of part of a dish at 4:00 when you still are facing dinner service. Just curious. Our server seemed to have the room by himself and there was another large party, but he did really well. I’m an Avenues fan and always enjoy my time there.
I have been going to Avenues Bistro for years, but ladt experience was not good. The filet mignon was terrible. Reminded me of a steak from Golden Corral. Service was fine, but not sure if ownership changed or what happened.
We tried this for the first time in a few years, Went with parents for Sunday Brunch. We were put in back room with about 150 other people. The room is small and has low ceilings and the sound just bounces off every wall. There were 3 large parties, one was about 30 people. It was so loud we could not even hear the person right next to us. The worst dining experience I have ever had! The waiters were very aware of the situation, and said they have tried telling management that it happens almost every weekend. Management apparently does not work on Sundays, otherwise they would not allow. NEVER again!!!!
Avenue's consistently has great food and friendly/efficient service.
They're great for any occasion.
Since my last visit, they remodeled and changed the atmosphere, making it incredibly noisy and not a place I’ll probably go to again. Also, the restaurant advertised a brunch on Saturday and Sunday. I’d gone on Sundays previously and they served an entree plus had extras on a buffet. I never saw any reference in the menu or on the website that Saturday brunch didn’t include the extras. It was cheaper, but not what I expected for brunch. Very disappointing.
From soup to nuts, service, food and drink were aces!!!
Fantastic food. Came for a New Orleans Wine Dinner last night. Food was comparable if not better then some of the best places in New Orleans. Bananas Foster was incredible, please add to menu
Great night at the New Orleans Wine dinner. Food and wine delicious and service was very good. It was extremely loud (especially the booth right behind us) which made it hard for our table to converse and was down right irritating that they were being so loud and shrill. The wine dinners there are a great value.
Since Avenue Bistro has remodeled your back dining room it is very very noisy. It is hard to hold a normal conversation. It is almost unbearable.
The bistro seems to have gone down hill since the new addition.
The last two times we were seated there we had to find a server. Both times a shortage of help has been the excuse. We were seated right under an air outlet and it was frighteningly cold. They did move us but we had to find our own server. When we wanted to pay our bill I had to carry it to the front because the bartender was busy. It may a be a long time before we eat at Avenues again.
We have had brunch at Avenues in the past. The main dishes were good but the buffet wasn't what was available in the past. There was little to choose from and unsure why they would put scrambled eggs on it. We remember more salad choices, shrimp, fruits etc.
Had a great meal; service was good too. Staff very friendly and cheerful. My only disappointment was that it was freezing in there.
Simply delightful! A bargain lunch of 3 courses for$15 included a delicious and substantial house salad (with fresh greens, artichokes, cheese, croutons...) lovely broiled salmon with asparagus, and dessert: cheesecake. Our server was pleasant and efficient, the dining room alive but not overly noisy, and large windows offering diffused sunlight completed the picture. I recommend Avenues Bistro!
Excellent food, we had the halibut, and priced very reasonable. Friendly staff.
Restaurant was full, it was a little noisy.
Food and decor was good. The noise was unbelievable! We were there for Sunday brunch and had to practically yell at each other to be heard. Need to have something to help with noise, such as carpet or whatever!
Avenue's has never failed to have the best food and best service. The staff is friendly and we appreciate that they act like they're glad to see us. We love going to Avenue's for any/all occasions.
As usual, excellent food and service. We took advantage of a special . It is fun to go there and get different food than I order elsewhere. I can’t wait to go back!
Excellent food and great service.
Great bottomless deal and AMAZING Benedicts. So worth it.
Went at 730p on a Friday. Very loud and energetic atmosphere but had to shout a bit across the table to have conversations. When some of the crowd left it was much more casual feeling. Food was great - there was a bit of a delay with our food but I think we wouldn’t have noticed if the server hadn’t mentioned it. She did apologize a couple of times which was thoughtful. Would love to go back and check out more of the small plates
Must have been an off night. 20 mins to get our drinks. Entree came out 10 mins before appetizer. Had to ask for brussel sprouts twice. Manager did comp appetizer and brussel sprouts without us asking.
We have been going here for years. Absolutely love the place. Took two other couples who had not been there before and all were impressed with the food. Keyanna was our waitress. She had only worked there for two weeks and could not have been kinder...... sweet smile, disposition, and the patience of Job. We've gotten to know most of the wait staff, over the years, by their first names and will gladly add hers to the list. The remodeling of the main dining room is nice, but with the removal of the carpet to tile makes it that much noisier.
