We were a bit early for our dinner reservation after the theater but were seated right away and enjoyed a veggie pizza as an appetizer. Our dinner meal was delicious also. The room was quiet as stated in other reviews which made it enjoyable to be able to sit and chat
Great spot for a pre-theater drink or dinner. And you can't beat the special deal on parking in the hotel garage for theater-goers. Service was a bit slow and the food was only mediocre. I'd go back if I were going to the theater. Other than that, probably not.
Food was excellent. Not enough servers, they were very busy. However our server was very professional and pleasant. Took too long to get the drinks from the bar and the drinks were weak.
The ratings could have been a five, but A new waitress timing was off a bit. We received the main course before we had finished our appetizers. We were served by multiple wait staff including the manager on this busy Saturday night. They were very attentive from filling our water glass to filling our wine glass.
We ate lunch in. Saturday before the theater. My sandwich was very tasty, but it wasn’t hot. Barely warm. I didn’t want to send it back because we were checking the time before the show. I’ve eaten there twice before for dinner and lunch, and it was great.
Service was excellent. It was close to the Boston Opera House which made it easy with my 92 year old mother.
I wasn’t sure how to rate the noise level using your scale but I wanted to emphasize that one of my reasons for enjoying it so much is because there isn’t any noise. And you can actually have a conversation with your dinner partner! The ambience is conducive to an enjoyable meal.
lobster fondue was amazing. went here before a show at the Boston Opera House, super close.
Enjoyed the food selection and wine. Worked out perfectly as we were going to a show at the Opera House.
Had dinner here before a show and the service was excellent. The food offerings are unique and all
our choices were excellent.
Terrific varied menu for both carnivores and vegans.
Good for pre-theatre dining.
Food was solid. Really cool menu concept. Nice big armchairs that you can sink into were perfect for me and my wife!
Always good. New menu. Kind of liked the old one better but we shall see.
Good, basic Christmas brunch - hard to find in Boston, outside major hotels. Good server, gracious staff. Adequate variety & selection. Beware - no alcohol until 11, and brunch ends at 11:30.
Good experience dined before taking my granddaughter to the Nutcracker. Decor could use some upgrading. Forsythia in all the vases at Christmas-really!
the food was great but our waiter made our visit awesome
Food was great! It was my girlfriends birthday, so we had special occasion to celebrate. She loves calamari, but only the rings. Our server made sure that we only got the rings.. and they were seasoned perfectly! Dessert was served with the "Happy Birthday" written in raspberry. Great m=night and great time!
This is the second time we have been to Avenue One. The service was great. We went to the Nutcracker at 7:30 after dinner. Parking was easy. And the food was excellent. All of us had a wonderful time. The location is perfect for going to the opera house.
We had a group of 10, with four young children for brunch before the Nutcracker ballet. The staff was wonderful, the breakfast perfect and fresh fruit and omelets and pancakes. Highly recommend especially since you can also park at the hotel and walk to the ballet!
Beautiful setting for a family gathering. We ordered the Irish Nachos with waffle fries. Everybody loved them. The baked fish was fabulous. Fresh baked bread at the table was so good and they brought more. My vegan daughter loved her dish. Definately will go again. Great location with parking below.
Post Nutcracker.. adults/kids. Perfect evening.. waitress fantastic.. Thanks..
We have eaten at Avenue One a few times before the theatre. On this occasion the menu was limited and there was not enough serving staff. We will check out other options in the future.
Excellent brunch. Wonderful service. Great location. Next door to the Boston Opera House. Easy and reasonable parking.
We had 6 people in our party and heading to the Opera House for dinner. Parking is just below the hotel/restaurant and a block from the theatre. It couldn't be more convenient, and the food and atmosphere were great.
Food was really good. Friend was an hour late, but service provider didn't throw me out. Worried the whole time about taking the table up.
Good dining arrangement for before the show.
Stopped in for brunch before the theater on Sunday. Parked at Lafayette Place so it was very convenient. Liked the breakfast buffet, especially the omelettes made to order. Our server was very attentive. Would go again.
Great location for pre theatre dinner! Terrific service, good food and nice atmosphere.
Great ambience and exceptional food and service
great food and service was seated right away and drinks came fast
Great stop for a casual bite to eat before or after a show. Prices reasonably and food is tasty. Can’t go wrong.
Quiet place to enjoy dinner before the theater. Excellent location . Attentive service with good drinks and food served in a timely manner.
Good choice for pre-theater but uneventful dishes and uneventful atmosphere. Hotel restaurant.
On line reviews painted a much better picture ... 3 start max.
Our waitress MaryAnn seemed new at her job, but was friendly, courteous and attentive. Menu offers a good variety of items at prices moderate to downtown Boston. We had allowed 2 hours to dine early before seeing "Hamilton" at the Opera House and it was plenty of time to have a relaxing dinner. House bread offering is very good, but the olive oil/balsamic vinegar mixture served with it was bland. The cobb salad was good, as was the spinach artichoke flatbread pizza. We were happy with our wine choices and especially enjoyed the after dinner coffee and pumpkin cheescake dessert.
Avoid if possible. Many other options in area.
If you are seeing a performance at the Boston Opera House AND its a raining, Avenue One is a decent option give its proximity. Otherwise, there are many better options.
We were pleasantly surprised at both the ambience and the food quality. We had expected a basic hotel type restaurant, average food and ambience, but found Avenue One to be a step above that.
Had an excellent meal, were served in a timely manner and was convenient for us to park and be to the theater . A great all around experience.
If dining before the theatre, you are in luck!!!
Good food, nice variety, pleasant atmosphere, and easy !!! No sweat making your show!! Convenient for walking to show or shopping and garage parking right here.
