Caesar salad is now 18$. Prices have increased exponentially! Server said to blame Trump! I will not be returning!
Great service, excellent food, another great experience at Avenue Italy.
Wonderful meal and atmosphere. We didn't realize they added pizza to their menu. Will be back for that!
Staff was great. Food was average Italian. But seemed expensive.
It was the first time my wife and I had been to this restaurant and we brought our 6 year old daughter along. The staff was very accommodating and the food was delicious. Didn't really have a children's menu but they work with us to try to satisfy my daughter's needs for her appetite she was very happy as where we the servers were knowledgeable and helpful and the food once again was outstanding
Located in one of the few shopping centers in the Palos Verde peninsula, Avenue is a pleasant option for those who would rather not drive to the surrounding communities. The room is large an adequate, wines limited but well selected (we had an interesting Montepulciano d'Abruzzo), and food good, with some home made pastas. A good local choice not necessarily a place I would go out of my way to visit.
Everithing had been great till we finished main. They asked about dessert in poor attitude. Also they looked hurry to make us leave even there were some other customers eating. Food was great.
Great food the best location in so cal
Very good service
Every thing I mean every thing is perfect at Ave Italy restaurant
Mother's Day late lunch. Many dishes were over salted. It would be nice to decrease the salt, and allow customer to add to their taste buds.
Prices have gone up, but healthy food alternatives seem hard to find - fresh vegetables not cooked in lots of oil like all the pastas, and more salad choices. Oh yes, and I'd love the octopus salad if the octopus was ever tender. Tried it a few times. The noise level is off the charts when they are busy. I hope they work on these problems because I would like to return.
We were pleasantly surprised to find a high quality Italian restaurant in our own backyard. We were there for a special occasion and they accommodated our party of 8 perfectly. We were so full from the excellent calamari and bruschetta apps and the generous entree portions that we didn't leave room for dessert. Will do so next time as the tiramisu looked amazing. Great wine list and friendly service. We will be back!
Even though the place was empty, the table we got was extremely small for our party. Service was terrible and slow, did not come to table as often. 20% tip included in the bill was rip off for the bad services. This is the restrant you want to avoid at any occasion.
We had a lovely dinner. Glad the restaurant is open late!
Joel, our waiter, always takes good care of us. Beet salad is outstanding.
Daughter college graduation dinner!
Great service, a little loud.
Wonderful dinner...above expectations. Wait staff beyond compare...food amazing. Asked for a soup not on menu... no problem...made it for us. Fantastic!
Space is pretty large, so somewhat noisy at peak hours.
My husband and I tried Avenue Italy for the first time on our anniversary. We were pleasantly surprised with this restaurant. The food was delicious and our servers were friendly and very attentive. We will be back!
This is the 3rd time that we have eaten here and we have always been pleased with the
service and food. I had the linguini and clams which were some of the smallest clams
I have ever seen, but they were tasty. Everyone else at the table seemed pleased with
Celebrated my mother in laws birthday, food was great. Always a great visit
We enjoy the location of the restaurant and the ambiance. The salads and pasta dishes are always great. However, prices continue to go up. The two of us were given two menus with different prices, and when pointed out they said we had to pay the higher price. Martinis are now $15! Ouch!!
An incredible meal, enjoyed by all. Was seated right away and the service was on par.
We had 2 dogs and they accommodated us quite nicely.
always good food and attentive service. we enjoy the wide variety of selections that still keep within the authenticity of the food. we really appreciate the variety of the selections while still maintaining the authenticity of the menu.
Great dinner, classic Italian comfort food. Bread could have been fresher. I would definitely recommend this place to others. Has a nice family fell to it and the food was really good.
Great swordfish picatta! Waiter followed our request not to rush our evening, it was perfect. Even gave my husband some extra pasta!
This was our fourth dining experience. Early dining opt for a nicer table choice, very welcoming. Calamari is excellent, one of the best! Osso Buco was very tasty, not salty. VService very attentive. Will dine again.
I love this restaurant. The waiters are wonderful and the food is outstanding. The only Italian restaurant that I know that has veal milenaise.
Our table wasn’t ready for our 7pm reservation. Hostess informed us that the restaurant was busy, that several 2 person tables had come in before us. She offered a table in a high traffic area that was unacceptable. It was rude that we were informed that our reservation would not be honored because others had arrived before us. The implication was that we were unimportant and should be satisfied with either waiting or for a sub par table. A man intervened and we were able to be seated promptly after I informed her I felt unwelcome and we would leave. What’s the point of booking a reservation on busy night to be treated like this? Our server was excellent, the food was great but we will not be returning.
excellent as always! the food is always delicious, price are right and always able to find a reservation for special occasions with open table.
Dined here a few times before...always 5-stars. Bit pricy but always worth it for the food and ambiance. Service is usually excellent. The runners and the hostess are always polite and inviting. My wife and I dined at this loc on Valentines 2/14/18. We sat at a nice table in the back of the restaurant, near the kitchen window. The waiter (who shall remain nameless) was rude, extremely pushy and verbally short towards us and others he was serving. It was evident, as we all looked at each other in amazement. I hope this was just a “one-off” as this is a nice restaurant and would not want to see them lose customers.
The food was okay, not great. The hostess was great! Our waiter was terrible!!! Unfortunately I don't have his name. He was grumpy, forgetful, not friendly, and nowhere in site after we ordered our food. Basically, he was not there - either in person or in thought.
My friend very clearly ordered the Ave Italy Salad which he proceeded to ask if she'd like a different dressing on the side rather than the one she'd asked for because the one she wanted didn't go with beets. Problem was that she didn't order the beet salad. But because he wasn't paying attention, he wrote down the wrong salad! And, by the way, she said it wasn't really all that tasty. I had the Quattro Stagione Pizza. It was okay. If they continue to keep this waiter, they should really think about training him MUCH better!
So, the food problems weren't even the biggest problems. After we placed our order and got our meal, which was brought to us by someone other than our waiter, we didn't see our waiter again until right before we left and even then he NEVER came over to our table to see if we needed anything or to give us the check, or to explain what was going on. We had to ask the bus boys for more water as well as the check!!!
There was a problem at the restaurant while we were there - the power went out. It caused the credit card machine to stop working. Did our waiter come over and tell us this? No! And neither did any else! A while after we finished our dinner and NOBODY came to check on us or to tell us what was going on, we told the hostess we needed our check. Somebody, not our waiter, came over and explained what was going on and gave it to us. Either his name or our waiter's is Filiberto which is the name on the check.
What it has going for it is that it's a beautiful, romantic venue. And I'm sure that the majority of the wait staff are great. However, we unfortunately did not have a good experience because of our bad waiter.
We had a reservation for Saturday night for a birthday celebration. Unfortunately the restaurant also had a big party and something happened to our reservation where we ended up having to wait half an hour for our table. No one explained to us exactly what happened, but they did what they could do to get us a table as quickly as possible. It was our first time there so we didn't know how crowded the restaurant would be; we thought we would be safe with the reservation. But the food was very good and the service was fine. We will probably return but definitely not on a weekend and we will make sure to eat a little before we get there in case this happens again. It would have been nice to get an apology and explanation for what happened.
Dreadful food, very rushed, over priced. A good Chardonnay Called Laguna.
Our waiter was Freddie, whose friendliness & attention made for a wonderful evening!!!
When we arrived for our 6 p.m. reservation, the restaurant was VERY noisy, so we took a high top table right at the window away from a large, loud group. The service was excellent (Freddie!!), the food was divine, & the Italian wine was one of our favorites!!! My husband had a made to order risotto, while I had a special, the Mediterranean Sea Bass with double vegies , as I didn't want any potatoes. Our appetizer was a Caprese salad that also included eggplant. Yummy!!!!
Our server did his very best but they were totally under staffed and it took all most an hour to get our dinner to us
Will never return to this over rated restaurant
Sax was much to loud to allow conversation
I had the special which was haddock. Perfectly cooked with tasty caper/lemon sauce. The brussels sprout appetizer was not as good.
Service was good. Our waiter anticipated requirements and refilled drinks frequently without being asked
Never seen a restaurant FORCE FITTING tips via iPad even for 2 people dining. Must STOP this practice.
