Avenue Italy Cucina Italiana
Our Chef Mario Zanetti, originally from Piemonte, Italy has been in the fine dining industry for more than 25 years. During his prestigious career, Mario has been the Lead Chef for La Stada Restaurant in Los Angeles, as well as owned his own very successful restaurant in Orange County.
Now his unsurpassed expertise can be shared with you at Avenue Italy, where you will find a welcoming atmosphere and freshly prepared food by the expert and his team.
Had a great time dining at the bar and conversing with the bartender Joe. He is quite entertaining. Can't wait to do it again.
Food was excellent - seating was a bit cramped, but it was Mother’s Day, so to be expected. Our waiter Joel, was knowledgeable, attentive and polite.
I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately, I felt the food was overpriced and fairly bland. The bread was excellent but it went downhill from there. Not bad food; just bland. My pizza was $20.00 for a sausage and mozzarella, which is about 4 or 5 dollars higher than other Italian restaurants nearby. All the dishes were priced higher than average. My mother's pasta, Vodka Penne, did not have enough sauce and was bland, as was the Chicken Parmesan. Cute place and locally owned, but this isn't enough to get me to go back.
$300 for a family dinner for four (2 adults, 2 kids). The place had plenty of tables available on Mother’s Day when all other nearby restaurants were fully booked. Suggest lower prices and you will have a full restaurant.....plus interior could use some professional design help, looks like a DIY job.
The food was very expensive and not very good.
The waiter took forever, and we waited forever for the check.
I would not recommend this place to anyone.
We had 4 mimosas and that was $60.
I wanted some grilled shrimp - the waiter recommended I add shrimp to a pesto pasta.
I got 4 little shrimp and pasta and was charged $40. Thats insane! No Thank You!!!
When we arrived we checked in with two different people but were greeted and sat promptly. It was a reservation for 2 people. We then proceeded to order drinks and an appetizer but the appetizer never came. We then waited over 45mins to get our food. There were tables that came in after us and with larger parties that were served first. We order the same dish, which was the seafood linguini however they tasted different. One dish was better than the other as if they had different seasoning. After bringing our dishes we then requested cheese which meant more waiting. Once the bill came the waiter charged us for the appetizer. He seemed surprised that we did not receive it once we brought it to his attention. If he would have checked in on us he would have know. The food was fresh but the overall the service was lacking. We also put on our reservation that it was a special occasion and a birthday but that went unnoticed as well.
Trying to become regulars!
We had the scallops appetizer, followed by the eggplant Parmesan and veal Milanese — all were superb. The vodka martinis were terrific and the tiramisu was divine. This restaurant knows Italian!
Avenue Italy Cucina never disappoints! The food is really delicious and the atmosphere is warm, easy and friendly.
This is one of our go-to places on Friday nights. We are usually very happy with all aspects. This time the food was excellent, but the service was very slow. The place was jammed, but nonetheless, we've been there in the past when it was crowded and still been able to get in and out within an hour. This time is was over an hour and a half. The seating host seemed to be thoroughly lost. Our server tried his best, but he seemed to have responsibilities all over the restaurant. Again, food was great, but service left a lot to be desired this trip.
Delicious authentic Italian food!
While Ernesto took a long while to deliver us menus and then take our order, we enjoyed the food and ambiance as always.
We eat out a lot so we love this restaurant for easy and delicious!! My Italian friend who moved here a few years ago eats here regularly (that should say something). They are efficient and friendly, and the food is really great every time.
I highly recommend Avenue Italy Cucina!
The price was good and the pasta selection is great. However, the food was very mediocre. I had ordered a vegetable lasagna and I took a few bites and left it. My BF order a chicken parmigiana and thought it was okay. The pasta that came with the chicken parmigiana was very dry. Overall, the food is very mediocre and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Delicious food and excellent service. No corkage fee for wine purchased at Wine Shoppe in Torrance.
This used to be our favorite restaurant in town. The food and service has really gone downhill. We hope they get back to the level of quality they use to have as recently as late last year.
We were very disappointed in our experience and had hoped that this would be our new go-to restaurant at Golden Cove. My husband ordered eggplant parmesan with a side order of pasta, plain. The piece of eggplant was very small for the price and moderately tasty. The pasta was thick and chewy. My pasta, with a garlic/two-cheese sauce was thick and chewy, not al dente, just too thick and chewy, sauce was minimal and I could barely taste the cheese, pasta was too oily, fried calamari rings were greasy and should have been fried a minute or two longer, bread was good, as was Prosecco. I am a huge Italian food fan and frequently cook Italian meals at home, visit Italy every year, and I know what's good and what isn't. We don't mind paying whatever for delicious food, but this was sorely lacking. Service was good. We want all P.V. businesses to thrive, it's good for the community, but I worry about the future of this restaurant. We have no reason to return. Must say that ambiance was inviting and place very nicely appointed. I think they can do better.
Made reservations through Open Table and was seated in a corner right next to the kitchen door. Within 10 minutes of being seated, a server dropped an entire tray of glasses right next to our table. My husband ordered a draft beer and after 20 minutes was told the keg was warm and he needed to choose another. We waited more than an hour to receive our dinner and when it arrived at the table it was cold. My scallop risotto was taken back to the kitchen to be "reheated". By the time they reheated it, the rest of our party was finished eating and my scallops were very overcooked. Our entire table wound up ordering an additional drink due to the delay. No apologies were even made for the broken glass or the delay. When my husband completed the bill and applied an 18% tip (much more than the server deserved), the waiter took the check presenter, looked at the tip and glared at us. Upon putting on our coats, my husband found a large piece of glass in his coat pocket. He addressed the restaurant manager who informed him since we had already paid the bill he was unable to do anything. When we complained about where we were seated, the host stated it was because we didn't have reservations which we clearly did. When they refused to do anything regarding the major issues we had I simply said "Situations like this are exactly why Yelp was created and I will be sure to contact Open Table regarding the what happened." Within 10 minutes after our departure and 2 1/2 hours after our reservation time, they "cancelled" our reservations attempting to prevent us from leaving this appropriate review. We felt strongly enough about our experience that we reached out to Open Table with a copy of our receipt and they kindly reinstated our reservation allowing us to leave this review. Buyer beware.
Great Valentines Dinner !!
Valentines Day. Food and service were excellent. Had a 7:30 reservation but still was seated in outer patio area. Not very nice atmosphere out there and there was a large hole in the patio cover letting in cold air. Would have liked better seating choice.
Valentine’s Day dinner
This restaurant is greatly improved since it's opening several years ago. Really excellent pasta dishes. Wine list is middling, but there are a few good values. Free corkage nights are probably your best bet. Nice location.
Very good food and lovely ambiance! It’s a little pricey but I’m willing to overlook the cost from time to time because I enjoy the food and atmosphere. Great for date night, girls night out or families.
The food was excellent, the service out-standing, seated in the patio with heaters was quieter than being in the main dining room. Great to see the place so popular!!!
Great food quality preparations, presentation, ambiance and atmosphere, service could improve to a friendlier manor. But over-whole we had an enjoyable meal.
Great food on a warm Friday evening. Lentil soup was excellent as always. Veal ravioli in light cream sauce was an excellent and very filling special; lots of ravioli, homemade pasta to perfection. Spinach and ricotta ravioli in marinara was also excellent; again the homemade pasta was perfect. Both sauces were delicious and complimented each dish just the way it should.
We dont drink , ordered non alcoholic soda and there was alcohol in it!!
No pepper, had to ask every time.
Food was ok.
Manager/ server was on ipad the entire time at bar.
Bill was on ipad stood at the table while we wanted to discuss tip amount
Will never go back.
Vittorio from the incredible Il Toscano is chef here! Food is incredible. Beautiful ambiance.
Nice to have excellence close to home!
My parents celebrated both of their birthdays here and everyone liked their food. They had a positive experience, and my daughter helped me with this review. Unfortunately I couldn’t attend the dinner. We have dined at Avenue Italy in the past and loved it.
The pros: very tasty entrees, salad fresh, good cocktails. Cons: most items overpriced, calamari chewy, quite noisy.
A great place to celebrate the new year.
We have had the fortune to dine at Avenue Italy three times for dinner (two for casual and the last for NYEve) and for every occasion the food was nothing less than superb! The owner, Mario, is very pleasant, respectful, attentive, and available for any questions. Head chef, Vittorio, brings his experience from his past successful restaurant, Il Toscano, to the overall excellent dining experience. We feel blessed to have such an extraordinary Italian restaurant in our neighborhood and how lucky, too, for vacation guests of Terranea Hotel.
Food was good, Caesar was uninspired but liked my large scallop dish. Waiter totally crapped out after initially being attentive. Guess my daughters splitting an entre put us in the not worth bothering with category. Really annoying at these prices
While the food is good, the service is so bad that it’s not worth sitting through. No one serving us could remember who ordered what, one dish came out late (as in he forgot to order it) and no one checked in on us after the food came.
The TV is distracting too, a small bar TV is one thing but this TV made it feel like we were in a sports bar.
We’ve been here a few times before and had a good time. But this time... not so much.
Excellent authentic Italian food and friendly owner. Will definitely eat there many more times.
Enjoyed the lasagna with homemade pasta very much! The hiSlightly brightly lit table right next to the kitchen felt a bit odd. Would recommend frosting the glass so as not to see so much of the kitchen. It is an average looking kitchen with a ton of boxed wine shown, so probably should hide that a bit :)
Great menu, good wine list and fantastic desserts! It was a nice treat to hear live music on an average Tuesday night. A neighborhood gem!
Love this Restaurant, Vittorio is quite an asset we love his special dishes and his music. Always have a nice dinner when we eat there when he is working. But, there is one waiter who continues to be terrible ignoring us and rude, decided I won’t be going back!
