Avenue Italy Cucina Italiana Ratings and Reviews
steak tasted great. Salmon wasn't too good. price was extremely expensive. this wasn't trump or terranea.
the server or manager brought us bill, he already included the tip on our bill. big mistake.
not going back there again. tips are unto the customers depend on restaurant's service.
It's been two days since my wife, my son, my 85 year old Mother (it was her birthday celebration) and I so called dined at Avenue Italy. I've never written a restaurant review before, but I also have never been so disappointed in food quality, presentation, and most of all the disgusting service my family and I received. We dined at Avenue Italy on Mother's Day and found the experience and food quite good especially on a busy day like Mother's Day. That's why we wanted to come back for my mother's special birthday. However, I don't know what has happened in a few short months, but the food quality was nearly uneatable. Olive Garden is 5-star compared to what we received. We had our salads and soup served 15 minutes after ordering. We had two of our four entrees served 7 minutes ahead of the other two. The original served entrees were cold by the time the other ones were served. This is very wrong considering one of the last two entrees served was for my 85 year old mother. No apologies, no nothing. I don't know how long the head waiter has been working at this restaurant but the owner of the should be aware that his social skills, his tone and business etiquette made for a very uncomfortable evening. The topper was when it was time to pay my bill, it's done on an i-pad. I wanted to give him a 5% tip. I normally tip 18-20%. I've never tipped ZERO. He stood over my shoulder while I held the i-pad. He wanted to insure that I gave him the 15, 18, or 20% tip selections that were on the invoice. It was extremely uncomfortable. I felt that I gave him the zero tip selection he would have verbally accosted me. I hope he enjoys the 15% he stole from me. When I booked my reservation on Open Table I notified Avenue Italy in the comments section that we were celebrating my mother's 85th birthday. There was zero acknowledgment by the hostess, our waiter or anyone from their staff. It wasn't until our waiter asked if we wanted dessert that I informed him. Very awkward.
We have been to Avenue Italy a couple of times and the food has never disappointed. We went for our anniversary last week and had a great time. The food was near perfect as always. My wife had the Sea Bass special and the fish was cooked to perfection, though we both felt the sauce was a little too lemon forward. I had the Tagliatelle De La Casa and enjoyed every bite. A plus since my wife has Celiac Disease and can not have any gluten, is Avenue Italy has Gluten free Pasta and bread sticks. She has never had a reaction after eating here.
We had a party of six for a birthday dinner. They gave us a choice of 3 tables, which was very nice. Bread and oil was awesome. Fried calamari appetizer was delicious - light batter and tasty sauce. Caesar salad was just ok, nothing special. I had an off menu special pasta with shrimp and lobster. Seafood was very good but pasta was a bit bland. Service was courteous but not perfect - we had to request a chiller bucket for our Champagne, had to request Parmesan cheese and crushed red pepper twice. Corkage was high at $20/bottle.
Overall we enjoyed the occasion and it was a good meal. Good but not fabulous, especially considering the price. Might return but won't make a point of it.
Absolutely love this restaurant. The food is always on point and consistent. Very reasonably priced and portions are more than adequate. Nima is the best! Always friendly, treats you like you're the only one in the restaurant. The staff are very attentive to every detail of your dinning experience. I highly recommend this dining establishment, you won't be disappointed.
The food was excellent; however, the service was terrible. We waited for approximately 10 minutes for someone to come to our table. Once our waiter came, it was another 10 minutes before we got a drink and an appetizer. Once our entrées arrived, I ordered another glass of wine which never arrived. We did not see our waiter again. We stopped another waiter and told him that we would like our check and that we did not get the last glass of wine. He offered to give us a glass of wine on the house, but by then we just wanted to leave.
Thanks Nima for a great dining experience last night for me and my wife. This was our first time dining at Avenue Italy. The food and service were great. The tiramisu was fabulous. Thanks again Nima for a great evening, you really made the dinner special for me and my wife.
appetizers were good.. mains not so much..fish overcooked, pastas under sauced...had to remind them we were there celebrating a birthday, even though we had a stand up on the table saying happy birthday...thought pricing was to high for the quality..don't think we'll be back
Nice restaurant in a beautiful California oceanside locality. Homemade pastas were quite good, but was surprised that more weren't available on the menu. Seemed like the separate pasta listing had more offerings...thus assumed they were pre-made commercial. Nonetheless, nice atmosphere with attentive service. Prices reasonable for good value.
The view from the patio is of the cliffs and coast. Inside has life-sized trees and feels a little like you are outside if the doors are open. Great traditional Italian food well prepared. My group had a lot of special requests and they were met with ease and charm. Our waiter was really patient with my 95 year old grandfather who wanted meat sauce on everything. They were very welcoming to families and very courteous. Even driving up there was lovely up the coast.
Five Stars - on a busy Father's Day, they were prepared with adequate staff to handle the
rush. Lot's of seating choices, inside and out.
Food was well prepared and presented. Wine list is good, though not too extensive.
One of the kids wanted blackberries for dessert. But, they had none in the kitchen.
The owner sent one of the staff across the parking lot to Trader Joe's to buy them!
