Exceptional service. Food very good. Nice selection of wine.

We went to Avenue Grill due to the close proximity to our hotel. We requested a booth and were told they "were all dirty". The restaurant was mostly empty. We were then seated next to a couple who shortly thereafter declared they were leaving as they had been waiting an hour for service. The gentleman told us that we should leave as well - we did. They had a very limited menu and the wait staff seemed unremarkable.

We needed a 'quick' diner before a huge cocktail party and though it was not a heavy time/filled location it took 45 minutes to get four salads. (one arrived without dressing!?!)
They were aware of the time crunch and though the server seemed to be checking constantly but no food. Our friends at another table finally had to leave as their food never arrived. We didn't want to miss the transportation to the functions so it was disappointing.

The food was good, but not special. A lot of reliance on salt for flavor rather than other spices or preparation skill. Meat was good, but crab cake was ordinary.

Made reservations for 4 people for a pre-show dinner. Arrived at 6:10. Waitress approached table at 6:30 to bring us 5 glasses of water, apologized that she did not bring enough and returned with a sixth glass for a party of four. We ordered our drinks and dinner at the same time. At 6:55 (25 minutes after it was ordered) we were told the wine was out of stock. There was no concession made to bring a more expensive wine to replace the out of stock bottle. When the re-ordered lesser expensive wine arrived the waitress broke the cork and was unable to open the bottle. Manager took the bottle away from table to the rear of the restaurant and opened it. At 7:10 we asked manager to check on our food as the show started at 8:00. 15 minutes went by where the manager on multiple occasions peeked out of the kitchen to see if our food had arrived. Finally at 7:25 we decided it was time to leave. We asked the hostess if we could pay for the partially consumed wine. She wanted to check with the manager. When we explained his hiding from the table she told us we could just leave without paying.
From the complaints around our table we were not the only ones having issues. I could understand if the restaurant were busy but only half the tables were filled when we arrived and by the time we left the restaurant was 1/4 full.
I have never walked out of a restaurant before as I used to wait tables and understand what it takes to please the public. This was a joke though. I expected more from the Marriott.

My friend and I had theater tickets and since it was bitterly cold outside we ate at the nearest restaurant. Big mistake. The waitress was pleasant and took our order quickly but it was downhill from there. We had 6pm reservations and barely made it to an 8pm show! I asked for a steak, rare, and was served a tough, over cooked blackened piece of meat. My friend ordered a burger and the bottom of the bun was black. Many people just got up and walked out because they waited so long. I will never return to this restaurant. One of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had.

Made reservations for 6 before attending Les Mis, and our group was arriving from different places, getting caught in traffic and arriving late. The wait staff was perfectly balanced between attentive and patient. There was a nice selection of wines, the dinner menu was filled with tempting choices, and the food lived up to expectations—really enjoyable! The scallops with black lentils was delicious, as was the tenderloin. Cornbread starter was great. Portions were sized so you can still enjoy dessert without getting too full. Location is ideal for a bite before attending a show.

We had a “reunion lunch” for 15 people: the food was good with a wide variety of options at reasonable prices, and the service was outstanding.

There were only a few people there. Food was good, as was the service. Good location for sights in DC.

Ate here with our two kids (7 and 5) and enjoyed all the food. Service was attentive but not rushed. I had the lobster risotto and it was tasty. Husband ate the burger, and Kids had pizza and chicken fingers. Very happy we chose here for dinner.

I liked it but they charged my credit card twice. I hope I get my money back. The food and service was very good.

Staff was delightful, very welcoming, and the restaurant was clean and bright. Decent burger, all food came nice and hot. Good and convenient location for pre-show dinner at The National Theatre.

The food was excellent; location was ideal for attending the National Theater; but service was extremely slow.

Very nice experience before the theatre. Food was tasty and attractive. I had the rock shrimp ravioli, very nice but needed a bit more sauce. Food took a little long to come but was forgiven because the staff and everything else was great. We will come again!

Service excellent, haddock was tasty but Maryland crab cakes was only one cake (tho tasty) and the Carrot dish was ridiculously tiny and should not have been listed as a full dish, really was a small plate spread out.

Food was very average. Ambience was like a slightly high end diner. Nothing special about meal or experience. Service was good.

My brother and I stayed in D.C for Thanksgiving and ended up coming here for a impromptu dinner together. Things were a little slow to start, but they did seem to be extremely busy so I can forgive that. Overall a great experience and I would definitely recommend.

There was only one server. The hostess pitched in. The restaurant was half a block away from the National theatre which was pre Broadway a hot new show that had gotten rave reviews. Should have been better prepared for the theatre crowd.

We had special requirements for a quick meal before the theater, and they were met happily for a delicious gluten- and dairy- free dinner. Great location.

Service was slow especially considering the place was empty. Food presentation was poor. That was the saddest looking NY steak I've seen. Taste was just average.
