Avenue Grill - Denver Ratings and Reviews
We have eaten there for years and was surprised at the changes. We miss the white linen tablecloths. It has gone a little to casual now for the prices we pay. The food is good as usual. Staff is friendly and didn't rush us as we were there for the evening. It maybe a bit noisey if they has been crowded but they weren't so it was ok.
It was our first time visiting this staple of the Uptown neighborhood and it didn’t disappoint. Great cocktail list and some retro throwback special menu items from their menu dating all the way back to 1988. Very professional staff and all around good service. Brunch menu and specials look great, I think thats our next visit.
An old friend was in town and it was her birthday. The Grill was quieter than we usually experience, so we got the seat we wanted in a quiet corner so we could talk. The specials were interesting but we were all happy to have some old favorites. Enjoyed the evening, didn't feel rushed, and the service was great.
I normally always have the salmon with polenta and it never disappoints. The last time we dined here, three people at the table had the bison stroganoff which was tasty but contained very little bison, and tons of mushrooms. Their cocktails are very good as well as their wine and port selection. We really liked the vegetable egg rolls as appetizers and their creme brulee was extra delicious. Service has always been very good. This restaurant is one of our "go to" places both for ambience and comfort food.
A very pleasant experience. Our waitress was lovely and appropriately attentive. My salmon quiche was ok, a little too crusty. Salad was good. Friends had Eggs Florentine and both seemed to enjoy it thoroughly. I would come here again and order something different.
Horrible. Service, atmosphere, food and server all need some attention. We were there for an hour before we received our food and there were only maybe 6-7 tables. The menu left a lot to be desired. We had to ask the server to remove dirty dishes between apps and entree and entree and dessert. There was a very loud and obnoxious table where the diners were talking about things inappropriate for my seven year old niece. The whole restaurant looks old and tired. No idea what has happened here. We used to love this place. We won’t be returning.
Went to Avenue Grill for Brunch and celebrating my granddaughter's 18th birthday. It was quiet and peaceful. The menu was smaller than I expected but all food served is natural and products purchased from locals. The plate were extremely appealing and the food was fresh and full of flavor. For those who enjoy organic eating I would highly recommend the Avenue Grill.
Avenue Grill is an old standby and on our go-to list for over 20 years. The menu will suit most any taste. The servers are uniformly friendly and efficient. Acoustics are good for conversation - an increasingly important item to those of us who are no longer 21! Parking lot is a big plus. Love this place.
The Avenue Grill was one of our regular haunts when we lived in Denver -always great food and service. This was our first time back in 6 years, and it was as good as we remembered. The drinks were perfect, great wine list, and the food was excellent. Kudos for keeping the overall quality at a high level in our absence.
Their August Dinner for Two promotion brought us in tonight, although this is one of our favorite restaurants in Denver. For a fixed price of $69, they offered soup or salad, a choice of four entrees, and a choice of three desserts, plus a bottle of wine. The food was as good as always, a the discounted price made the experience even better.
One of our go-to restaurants seems to have passed through the veil of age and indifference. The place is looking shabby, the waitstaff inattentive, the carpet threadbare and grimy. Please, owners, either get back in business or close up and let someone else recapture the dependable, lively place that was the Avenue Grill.
Their Crab Cake Roll is described on their printed menu as using Lump Blue Crab, which is the only reason I ordered it. Sorry, but my crab cake was definitely NOT made from lump crab...there was not a single lump of crab meat. It was shredded claw meat. If it hadn't been advertised as lump crab it would have been okay, as I would've ordered something else, but as it was I was very disappointed.
Also, the tomato on my sandwich wasn't nearly ripe - it was half green and crunchy. It's late August, people...it should be easy to get good tomatoes.
Poor service! No Management in sight! Server seemed new and not a very good, sloppy appearance and was not familiar with menu,She brought wine when we still had cocktails, did come back to pour wine or even offer coffee with dessert. Food presentation was mediocre, prime rib over cooked, vegetables seem to have come from a bag and dessert was nothing like described on menu. I hope they get their act together as this was a very good place to dine. Need new management that cares about their job and want to make this place succeed!
Great ambiance and excellent service highlight this Denver restaurant. Lots of parking available. Nice bar for good cocktails and food. My meat eating friends really enjoyed their dinners. There was only one vegetarian option, Thai BBQ tempeh which was not so great, but sides, salad, and bread were very good.
The Avenue Grill used to be a special experience, a place where you would take a special guest to show that Denver too has exclusive restaurants where you can dine in style. No more. Everything has been simplified and made cheaper (except the price). Gone are the nicely set tables, the well dressed waiters, the candles. The food was good (but not outstanding). The wine was good (but choice very limited). Average restaurant for an above-average price. And everybody else knows this. On a Friday night at the best time to dine, I would estimate that the restaurant was 30% occupied. I asked the waiter what happened. He explained that Denver has changed. I think it has not, the restaurant has changed and it certainly is not an improvement. I won't be back.
My fiance and I went to the Avenue Grill to use our dining passbook. We both got the Bison Stroganoff and it was very good. We would come back to try more off the dinner menu. Great service, ambiance, location, and the bread and butter that we had to start was so yummy.
This used to be one of the best restaurants in Denver and sadly is slipping. They updated the decor a bit with new lighting (but with fluorescent bulbs?), paint and got rid of table cloths (mistake). The only thing they needed to do was remove the fiery carpet. The menu is smaller, crowds are smaller and now the food is jusr average. Such a bummer,
This was a recommended location for a business lunch. It's nice to find a setting with a classy ambience and equally class service; it supports the effort to reach out to another professional. At the same time, the Avenue Grill avoids the stuffiness that too often comes along with a polished setting. We had a fine meal and excellent conversation. The ease of parking across the street was especially appreciated.
