Its closed. Not in business! Why is this restaurant still on open table??
This is a neighborhood gem that will be truly missed. Thank you for years of quality food, the friendliest service, and an overall outstanding dining experience. We hope to be hearing of your next endeavors soon
Always wonderful food.
Avenue B's concept, execution, and ambiance are excellent. I will miss them and hope they reopen sooner than later in a location more deserving of them.
Sorry to hear you are closing!
Always a great experience at Avenue B. Sad they are closing!
Great place. Please don’t close
This restaurant was the best meal we've had start to finish! Every dish was fun, creative, and of course delicious. We received a gift card for Christmas and were waiting for a special occasion, but then found out they were closing so we booked the reservation ASAP. I am so sad we had only just found this place and wish all the chefs and staff the best of luck - and crossing my fingers for a re-opening somewhere!
We were fortunate enough to get a table for the final saturday seating at Avenue B. Unfortunately they are closing permanently and will be missed by many diners. I am so glad that I finally was able to try their signature dish, Waygu meatloaf. Sooo good. Lets hope the family returns to open another restaurant in the future.
So sorry they are closing. Excellent food, and creative!
Exceptional, as always. Very sad this restaurant is closing!
Love this place and going to really miss it! Please think about opening something in Hampton township!
I just recently discovered this restaurant and I have been there twice, but I love it. One of the best restaurants in Pittsburgh. Do not miss it.
I will really miss having Avenue B nearby. Hopefully when they make their comeback they are still walking distance. The food as ever was excellent! Best of luck Ave B!
Super awesomely delicious.
The service and food was exceptional. It was my first time dining here. I am very sad to here they are closing in march. If you haven’t been there I suggest you go before they close.
Pretty fantastic meal. I highly recommend looking up the menu, since it is BYOB and you will want some wine to go with it!
The food was creative and the execution was outstanding. The waitress was informative and helpful. Just remember this is a BYOB place, a fact that did not appear on any materials that I saw on OT, so if you want alcohol you need to bring your own.
Cozy BYOB very close to UPMC-Shadyside. The rooms nicely lit and service was very good. Ordered the Wagyu Meatloaf based on reviews and it didn't disappoint. Server was kind to substitute potatoes for a vegetable! Complementary bread with wonderful chive butter provided before meal while waiting. I look forward to coming back again and brining nice bottle of wine (flew into town and didn't have time to purchase, although server mentioned Giant Eagle close by now has liquor store in it).
This was our fourth time here, had awesome experiences before. Last visit apps were very good but the entrees were not up to our expectations. Maybe kitchen was just a bit off this night. We'll be back but we were slightly disappointed.
Celebrated two birthdays this past Friday evening with friends. We were seated promptly with our reservation and the service was great. Our food was not up to their usual "great". Two people had their famous meatloaf and both felt it was a bit overcooked this time. I had chicken, which was good, but wouldn't order again. We left feeling like we had a nice meal with good friends, but not up to our usual Avenue B. expectations.
I would say that Avenue B is the best restaurant I have been at in awhile. They are very accommodating with food allergies and very friendly staff.
Recommend the meatloaf, service was exceptional!
Avenue B has never disappointed me (or those who are with me)! The presentation and tastes are unique, delicious, exciting and comforting all at the same time. The atmosphere (whether few or crowded) has always been perfect whether 2 of us or a group. And whether I have had early or late reservations, I have never experienced a difference in either the food or service with attention to detail for both. I love that Avenue B is in my neighborhood, but would encourage those from around and outside of the City to enjoy this gem as well.
Always good. Appetizers are the stars. After many visits, we think a few appetizers instead of main courses are more enjoyable due to chef's continued desire to try and put too many flavors on the same plate, especially for the entrees. Sometimes less is more as there is a tendency for flavors to get a bit muddled. That being said, Chef is creative and talented. The BYOB policy is great. Service is generally good and attentive.
I like that they are BYOB with very reasonable corkage. I can bring the good stuff from my cellar. The unique brussel sprouts concoction is a hit.
BYW, my "date" was my wife of 48 years. It was a special night out.
We made a special trip to Avenue B for Restaurant Week. The 3 course menu was a great way to experience the restaurant, and good value. They have some good options for vegetarians, which we appreciated.
We tried Avenue B for restaurant week. I would definitely go back. The service was great and the food was terrific. I had the fish and chips, which I often order when I eat out. It was really terrific. It came with two pieces The Napa coleslaw was also fantastic. It didn't contain a lot of mayonnaise, but had peppers and other veggies as well as thinly sliced wide, short fries (chips).
The cauliflower soup was very good. It had raisins in it among other things, which gave it a unique flavor, but wasn't weird or overpowering.
Dessert was a very rich salted caramel chocolate cake/bar with olive oil ice cream and lemon marmalade. The chocolate cake was very dense and a cross between a brownie and cake. The ice cream wasn't my favorite, but the olive oil made it extremely smooth. The lemon marmalade was a great taste to add to the brownie and the ice cream and gave it a bit of zing.
All in all, I enjoyed Avenue B very much.
Excellent and creative cuisine with fine service. We were there on a stormy night so there were few other guests which made it especially quiet and charming. It's byob, so cost of wine was not an issue. Often in the the past this has been a noisy venue, so we were delighted with the elegant and calm ambiance. Perhaps carpeted floors in both the new and old sections helped in this regard. Absolutely delicious (1 lamb dish and 1 meat loaf, the latter being a justifiably prized menu item for this restaurant). Too full for dessert. Next time...
The food and service were phenomenal. Great ambiance as well.
Excellent food and service, and a very nice venue. Quiet enough to carry on a very reasonable conversation with my dining companion. Prices slightly on moderate - high side, but not bad considering quality of the food. Would certainly recommend this restaurant, and I will be back.
Energetic yet conversational atmosphere; service was prompt and staff was knowledgeable on the menu. Menu was diverse and food was well prepared and creative in design. Love this place, will go back again.
We like BYOB places and used to try to get get to Avenue B a couple of times a year. We hadn't been recently (since the expansion) and were a slightly disappointed. The menu hadn't changed much and we had tried most of the entrees over the years. Both our meals were good but just. Same with the service. We will go back, but with less anticipation than usual.
Amazing! Not a bad thing to say; everything was excellent.
The service was excellent and food spectacular. We were able to bring our own wine, which made the dinner even more enjoyable. Excellent dinner..
We love this place, second time we took friends for a night out. Great food and great service.
Try it, you'll love it
Not bad. Not great. Worth going once. Not the best high end American rstrnt in pittsburgh
I have been to your restaurant several times so when my boss said pick a place for our Christmas dinner I chose Avenue B. They absolutely loved it. Every single time I have been here the experience has been flawless. Jen and Jackson provided outstanding customer service, the food was everything I raved about and both bosses said they absolutely want to come back. Can't ask for more than that. Merry Christmas guys! See you in 2018!
Food was credible. Flavor profiles are spot on. Server was very knowledgeable about menu.
