Avellino Ratings and Reviews
Went there on a Wednesday night and the food was amazing. My husband had the mushroom risotto w/chicken and I had the scallops w/butternut squash risotto, both dishes looked and tasted great. Dan was our server and as usual everything was perfect, we request him whenever we go to Avellino's. Great place, love it.
Avellinos in a decent Italian restaurant in the sturbridge area, however the price isn't on par with the quality. The food is average, but you pay a lot for just average. The only truly off putting thing was the powdered parmigiano cheese we were given. You would think for the $$$$ they would have fresh grated or shaved. Overall not bad, but there are better options in the area at a better price.
Great spot, very good food and attentive service without being annoying. Chef very accommodating if a special request is made. Try the calamari appetizer....a welcome change from the usual fried dish! Delicious mini cannolis for dessert- you get four so perfect to share.
Second time back - and it was fabulous. Trust the Chef if you want to vary any menu item, or special order. And the dessert sampler, entailed 'trust the chef' (for 2) was a big hit. Outstanding quality, value and selection. Our new favorite Italian restaurant. My wife loved the eggplant parm.
My wife & I are always looking for quiet romantic spots. Avellino fits the bill. Nice bar scene as we were running early. Seated promptly in a quiet cute room off the kitchen. Dining room was very busy but the noise level was still comfortable. The server was energetic, helpful & seemed to be there at the exact moment of need. We will certainly be back ASAP.
Everything at Avellino's reflects a commitment to excellence. The tasteful decor, professional waitstaff, and the freshest food, beautifully presented and prepared, all add up to an outstanding dining experience. I am already thinking about our anniversary, my birthday, Bunker Hill Day, or Spring Solstice...any excuse to return to Avellino's again will do!
Avellino's did a great job with making us feel important. Our waiter, Joshua was very attentive to our needs. We started off with drinks, dinner and dessert. Everything was fantastic. I highly recommend the Gnocchi Bolognese. One of their best dishes. Thank you Avellino's for a great dinner.
We met friends in the Sturbridge area for dinner and although they wished for Italian they wanted me to pick the restaurant. Doing as much research that I could on the internet, Avellino's fit the bill. As it turned my selection pleased everyone. The wait staff was very attentive which set the tone for the rest of the evening. salads were fresh, the parmesans (chicken and veal) were tender and not hidden under a sea of cheese, and the braciole with mushroom ravioli was to die for. Although the restaurant was pretty full, the tables are nicely spaced apart and noise was never an issue.
Dining room is special to us. wine, appetizers, & main course all excellent. staff is profesional, very attentive but at the same time allow us the space for the intimate dining we came hear to experience. We intend to return for the same experience as often as our schedules will allow.
Table was requested to be off in corner and romantic. Group of 6 women sat ontop of us to celebrate Christmas. Server was Chris and he was great! Appetizers were great! Wine fantastic. Main meals nothing spectacular. Overall decent but crowded and loud. Not where I wld go for a romantic meal but would go with friends.
We were planning a night at Sturbridge Village and found Avellino on Open Table as it's very close. I looked at the reviews that were exceptional. My wife and I with our 10yr old had a fantastic experience from the moment we entered. The staff couldn't have been any nicer and Danny our waiter was spot on. The food was nothing short of wonderful. I would go there once a week if I lived close by, and my wife and I are not easy to wow.
Food was outstanding. Servicer was attentive and well trained-knew the menu and the wines which was no surprise. The general manager, Brad, is a true professional and does not accept inferior quality in food or in employee performance. Avellino will not disappoint.
I was very disappointed. I was surprised to read good reviews on tripadvisor. Presentation of food unappetizing. I ordered a dry martini that tasted like vermouth and was not chilled. We ordered an antipasto and some of the vegetables were marinated okay but wasn't happy about finding slices of cheddar cheese and for a large that was suppose to feed 3 to 4 people it was lacking. I had eggplant parm and although it is a simple dish I didn't expect it to come piled up over pasta . It was very unappealing. Everyone else said meal okay. Caesar salad served soggy and no hint of fresh parmasean and 2 croutons. We were never asked if we wanted extra cheese for meals or cracked black pepper. Overall it was a bad dining experience.
Had an enjoyable meal with friends. Enjoyed the calamari appetizer, I would recommend it. The risotto balls were ok but I wouldn't order again, the sauce served with it clashed with the taste. I had the short ribs, good but I have had better. Do order the dessert for 2, you get a great sampler and it is a great value. We were here on a Wednesday night, it was a very slow evening for the restaurant.
First time at Avellino will not be our last. We were celebrating mom's 81st birthday and needed a place halfway between Natick and Huntington, MA. Went to Rovezzi's down the street last year. Felt the food at Avellino was a bit better than Rovezzi but these restaurants are comparable in many ways. Our server was outstanding and we were in no way rushed through our meal which was very appreciated. Drinks are a bit pricey, but otherwise prices seem fair for quality and experience.
I made reservations the place was very busy Friday night I was disappointed with the service very slow didn't clear plates quick enough Ihad to ask for more bread I dined here before many times and received very good service but this time it was a disappointment. The food was excellent as always
I usually get the same thing when I dine here. I love their ricotta gnocchi bolognase. I always have to try one of their deserts as well. They have a rotating selection of deseets including cremebrulee and its very good! The service is always attentive and friendly. When i get the time I enjoy going here for a guaranteed great meal.
Despite the fact that we have a favorite Italian Restaurant, we wanted something different for a special celebration, so we tried Avellino. We were not disappointed. The waitress was friendly, efficient and patient. The meal began with an awesome stretch bread and was replenished without asking. Every meal in our party was very well-liked. My 87 year old father, who is not one to give compliments freely, took one bite and said, "This is good." That says it all!
After a great experience with the regular dinner menu on a previous visit we decided to give the Sunday buffet a try. They started off with 2 fresh salads and the hot entrees were meatballs and Italian sausage in homemade tomato sauce, stuffed shells, chicken piccatta, penne with sausage and mushrooms and a simply outstanding eggplant parmesan with polenta and mashed cauliflower as side dishes.
Everything was delicious, service was cordial and attentive and at $14.95 it was quite a bargain. I hope they don't take the eggplant parm off the menu since I had three helpings (it was that good).
I've heard the buffet menu is subject to change so you might want to check before you go if you are hoping for a particular dish.
