Avellino Ratings and Reviews
Arrived somewhat early for our reservation, but were seated quickly - we had dined here before a few times so were not surprised by the polite service. Waitress brought menus and wine list, filled our needs quickly and accurately! The only glitch was in the meal service itself, five dinners came out with celerity, but the sixth was delayed. No one should have been served until all meals were up together. Food was great, we shall go again for sure!!!
We are locals to the area and we always try to support our local eateries. We had a great meal for our special occasion last year and decided this would be the place again. The food is amazing, very authentic Italian cuisine and the desserts are to die for. Try the dessert for two, you can't go wrong. The wait staff are great and the ambience is quaint and unique.
Avellino was lovely, service was very good, but the overall quality of the food just left something to be desired. The descriptions of the dishes sounded wonderful, but the actual dishes were underwhelming--underseasoned, bland and not even pepper or grated cheese offered to help things along. Italian bread in basket not of very good quality. Just a disappointment overall.
The food was awesome. I had the calamari appetizer which had too many hot peppers for my taste, but others may think it's perfect. The noise level was a bit to much for me only because one table was talking too LOUD. Otherwise I think we would have a moderate level. I want to go back.
Excellent food and service, reasonably priced. The lobster ravioli was freshly made and came in a lovely sauce. The chicken breast was moist and flavorful. Seafood risato contained large mussels from R.I. that were absolutely delicious. Our server was proficient and unobtrusive. Authentic northern Italian without having to deal with the traffic and parking of Boston!
Everything is always outstanding. I need to thank Debbie for always giving us our favorite table.
The service is the best, thanks to Christine and Daniel. If Joseph is working the bar you will get the best martini ever. The food is perfect all the time. If we lived closer we would be coming back a lot more often. Just one thing, I wish you would PLEASE go back to the old Frank/Dean music, it is perfect dinner music and completes the night.
This is one of our favorite restaurants. It never fails to deliver really good food and outstanding service. It is a bit of a drive for us but we plan errands to do in the area and then make this our "dinner out". The menu is not huge, but what is served is done well. In the 3 years we have been going here it has never been a disappointment.
Celebrated our tenth anniversary with dinner at Avellino. Our server, Gina, was very good, allowing us to take our time as we were in no rush. We enjoyed our drinks as well as our food, although our entrees were a little under seasoned. For dessert we chose the sampler plate, which we couldn't finish. Richness overload, but in a good way. This was our first time dining at Avellino and we're looking forward to returning in the future.
Fantastic friendly staff, excellent food and a very nice overall ambience make this restaurant a GREAT find in Sturbridge, MA. Whether your destination is Sturbridge or you are passing through, definitely stop here for a delicious dinner served by a great staff.
Another fantastic dinner at Avellino. We don't live in the area but always look forward to stopping in. Everything was fresh and delicious. My seafood risotto was exceptional. I don't know what the sauce was but it was magic. The waitstaff is always friendly and so attentive. Definitely worth the drive!
Four in our dining party, one of whom was a vegetarian.
Everyone found something to like on the menu.
Asked for table near door for 2 in party who were mobility-challenge and this was accommodated.
Three dishes w/specific comments...
- The blue cheese bread before dinner was excellent.
- Veal parmagiana - Taste was very good. Veal was sliced very thin and breading was a bit too thick in comparison.
- Chicken piccata - Taste was good. Sauce was more cream-based than the broth-like sauce I'm used to. Side green beans were perfect and still crunchy.
We did not have dessert as we were so full from the main course and bread app.
This restaurant is probably the best of the vibrant Sturbridge dining scene. It offers fantastic Italian fare with excellent service (Dan and Kristina especially)! For a romantic evening or date I cannot recommend it enough. If you haven't been, please give it a try you will not be disappointed.
The Scicilian Calamari is fantastic! Unfortunately, the bread served with this appetizer leaves much to be desired.bread is needed to sop up that delicious tomato sauce.
We have dined her numerous times, but unfortunately this latest was a bit of a disappointment. New waitress ; kept us waiting for over 15 minutes for our check.
We had a delightful night at Avellino. We met old friends we haven't seen in a long time so having a drink and not being rushed was important. Our waitress was excellent.
My wife got the special of the evening and was very please, my veal parm was not overdone, which is the case so many time. The food, the wait staff, the atmosphere made our evening with old friends perfect, magnificent, fabulous.
Go to Avellino- relax, eat, enjoy!
While visiting the Brimfield Fair with friends we made last minute plans for dinner at Avellino with no problems securing a reservation. We were seated immediately with no delays. Restaurant has a nice vibe to it; lots of wood, open floor plan in Tuscan colors and Murano glass fixtures that all provide a casual warmth. We recommend the antipasto; delicious flavors and just the right size for sharing amongst 4. Very good wine selection conveniently by the glass and bottle. I was surprised the bread wasn't the usual heavy, artisan Italian loaf but was instead light and airy. Chicken Picatta and Veal Parm were both delicious; large portions which allowed for leftover lunch the next day! Our friends had the Roasted Cod Pomodoro and the Eggplant Parm; the former was delicious, the latter we were told was a bit on the dry side and they didn't particularly like the skin left on the eggplant. Our server was quite pleasant and efficient. There were several other parties seated around us but the noise level wasn't such that we had to raise our voices in order to be heard. Very nice restaurant and we would recommend for those liking Italian dishes.
