I have dined many time at the old location. This was my first time at the old 14th Avenue Steak House location. Two of the four of us enjoyed their meals, my wife and I thought it was sub par to the old location. I may go back for a second try, but it may be a while.
Our waitress was delightful and very attentive to making sure my food did not include any items that would cause an allergic reaction for me (dairy). She got different bread so I could enjoy the olive oil dipping. My husband thought the broiled Caesar salad was tasty and I had the Italian sausage bean soup that was delicious. We both had the scallops with Israeli couscous and every last bite was delicious. I want that recipe!! This is a comfortable, welcoming restaurant that is relaxed and has good people working and managing it. We will definitely be back!
Great place! Food and service always excellent. Main dining area up front. Bar in the back with a different "bar menu" offering several small plates. Back in the bar you can order off the main menu as well. Both menus are great offering a good variety. Never had a bad experience here. Wife & I both love it
Brought our friends to try Avanzare after our raves about the food. Unfortunately we were disappointed with warm salads and flat dressing. The lasagna bolognese was wonderful but the veal saltimbocca was tough and the cannelloni was terrible. Undercooked then burned on the edges for after a quick reheat. We hope this doesn't reflect the food fir the summer months.
We had a fantastic meal from start to finish. Margot made excellent recommendations and we were incredibly happy with our entrees- I had the short rib lasagna, and my wife had the lobster risotto. Appetizers were wonderful as well, and dessert was lovely. I wish we lived nearby, as we'd be returning often.
The best part of the meal was Fred our waiter. My mom ordered the linguine and clams and it was completely void of taste. I took one bite and it was similar to eating pasta in water with clams on top. My main course was the bolonese and it was served semi warm with ok taste. The caprese salad was good but not enough to carry the meal. Maybe an off night as I looked at the reviews and they all looked great. I was on vacation for a short visit to Vero Beach and will not return to this restaurant on my next visit.
Best Italian Restaurant in South or Mid Florida and one of the most reasonable wine lists of any restaurant anywhere. Some of their dishes are unique and very good. Their Lasagna Bolognese is my favorite dish. It is made with homemade noodles, carefully placed cheese, plenty of meat sauce, and it is delicious. It is unlike any lasagna anywhere. It is made with two large plate size sheets of noodles and is hard to finish. For a starter, they have a grilled Caesar salad. Try it.
We always have a good meal here and now they have a small plates menu at the back bar: even more to chose from and more fun. Our server this time was a bit clueless. First time I've had someone who forgot to place the order for the main entree. The entree was comped (it was the short rib linguini and was delicious). I'l just ask for a different server in the future.
Service is attentive but not overbearing. Wait staff is well trained, friendly, helpful and insures your meal meets expectations. The dining room is a bit dark for my taste but comfortable. Table setting is attractive and functional.
Food is priced reasonably and always nicely prepared and presented.
The chocolate, expresso, martinis from the bar are excellent. Best in the area.
This was our second visit and, as in our first visit, the meal was outstanding. The short rib lasagna is melt in your mouth delicious (the pasta is homemade) and very popular. The scallop dish was beautifully presented and delightful. For dessert we shared the honey orange marscapone cheesecake. I loved the combination of flavors and will order again on our next visit.
This was our first time eating at Avanzare. We really enjoyed our dinner-got a perfect seat
along the wall- which I did request. The host was very nice and the waitress, Amy was
very personable. She helped to make our dinner even more special! My husband wanted
veal parmigiana- which was not listed on the menu- but made it for him anyway. I ordered
the short rib ravioli and it was something! The atmosphere was really nice and the decor
was perfect- not too bright.
Just moved to Vero and read positive review in newspaper and wanted to try it. First dining experience in my new hometown and it was excellent. Melissa was a great waitress, knowledgeable, helpful and kind. Made us feel very comfortable. Menu was all encompassing. I had salmon special which was delicious. Guest had gnocchi and he said it was also delicious. Leave room for dessert. Great choices. We had a great time and will certainly be back.
Went for pre/Theatre dinner with friends.
However did not advise our waiter that we had to be done within 1.5 hours to make our show time.
Drinks were great... apps came out quickly however then had a 40 minute wait until dinner arrived...
Food was good, however my wife & I ordered sausage. shrimp penne it could have used a little more sauce, somewhat on the dry side.
The acoustics are on the loud side, this may be due to the advanced age of a lot of the patrons...
We do plan to have future dinners here and will advise our waiter/ress of any time schedule, to avoid feeling rushed to eat.
Our first visit to Avanzare. We were celebrating my husband's birthday with friends. We sat at the bar for Happy Hour and were very pleased with John, our bartender. He mixes a mean martini! When we were shown to our table by Annemarie, our server, we were pleased to be seated by the front window. Annemarie is an excellent server. We all enjoyed our meals. They were prepared to perfection. We will definitely be back!
Service was 5++ ! We had a attentive waitress with a great personality who made suggestions and anticipated every need. Sat in red leather booth in back bar area and had pleasant normal volume conversation with the other couple without strain...the front area would have been too loud to enjoy. Oyster grapefruit appetizer was outstanding!
Overall I have always liked this restaurant. I found a few things that could have been done better. The caesar salad dressing is not a true caesar salad dressing and it was skimpy on the salad. The big problem I had was with the floors. They are so slippery, I almost fell twice. You have to wear rubber sole shoes to feel comfortable on them. Also, the happy hour at the bar coincides with the special menu, so if you go to the bar first to have a drink, you have to be at your table in the restaurant within a half hour, so it is rush-rush.
Really like the back room with the red booths. It always seems to me somewhat less noisy back there and it's certainly brighter. Ashley our waitress is both excellent and adorable. Unfortunately, she is leaving at the end of April to go to Martha's Vineyard. I had a Black Bourbon Martini which was fabulous. We both had fish - one monkfish, the other salmon and we'd recommend those. In the past have also had the pasta. If you have not tried Avanzare by all means do so - and if you have already been there, go again.
The food was delicious (I would recommend the artichoke francaise appetizer). The service needs some improvement. Two points: The waiter reached across plates to serve wine instead of walking around the table to serve it properly. I ordered short rib lasagna and was served lasagna bolognese. The waiter offered to correct the mistake, but I was hungry and kept it (it was very good).
