Avanti Italian Bistro and Bar
Excellent restaurant - good food and ambiance. Very relaxing atmosphere. The parking was easy too.
We have attended Avanti many times and have found the wait staff very professional.
The food is very good and plan to dine there again.
Lovely restaurant with good food and beautiful ambiance. Reasonably priced. Loved the pizza! Friendly staff.
The food was outstanding, as always, and the service was fairly good considering the restaurant was unexpectedly busy with several large parties. Points off, however, for the reception and seating. Apparently because I made the reservation through Open Table, the restaurant initially had us seated at a table on the patio (on a relatively chilly night). The hostess first said there was nothing she could do, as the table was assigned by Open Table. I don't understand how the restaurant would turn over its seating assignments to a third party and not maintain control of that itself. It took some persuasion, and intervention by the manager, to get us a proper table inside for our birthday celebration, and the hostess was not very helpful about addressing the issue. We were seated about 15-20 minutes after our reservation time.
We will definitely go back to Avanti because the food is so very very good, but the restaurant needs to not allow Open Table to dictate their seating assignments, and be more welcoming and accommodating to their patrons.
We really appreciated our server Nedal - he was FANTASTIC! Kind and thoughtful in every way! Food was delish!!
Every thing is healthful and made with attention on quality. The Branzino, seafood pasta in red sauce, lamb shank were all delicious. Salads came with a light layer of dressing and fresh greens. We enjoyed the meal.
Lovely ambiance — delicious food! Attentive to special requests. Will be back soon!
Good bread and soup. Spaghetti was ivercioked but deuce was tasty and meatballs good.
A fantastic Old School Italian restaurant with all the favorites, beautifully prepared, and served. I particularly liked the meatballs, which were just as my grandmother cooked them. The night we went wasn't busy, but I hope it's very busy most evenings because Avanti is worth your time and money. Bravi!!
Good quality food with reasonable prices and large portions. Good neighborhood restaurant
Salads were excellent, entrees were alright.
Service was good.
Avanti is always a reliable place for good, simple Italian food. They serve a complimentary basket of breads which may include flatbread, breadsticks, and their famous garlic knots. Hubby had angel hair with shrimp, simply prepared with fresh chopped, peeled, tomatoes, garlic, and basil. I had the chicken piccata. I try to eat gluten-free, so the side of pasta was replaced by a perfectly cooked medley of vegetables, which complimented the lemon/mushroom sauce. We had to rush home, so no dessert this time (really didn’t have room for it anyway). Always good.
The lamb risotto was fabulous! Wonderful service and food. We'll be back!
The first time we went and the food and service were good and we didn’t get charge for warm water. This time we feel the service was slow and waiter charged us $2 for each warm water. In fact, we only ordered one warm water and realized the bill was charged for 3 cups when I got home. Very disappointing experience especially we invited 2 more families with us this time.
Avanti is a special place for my wife and me. The food is very good, the service is appropriate, not in your face but always there and it's close to our home.
Best food! Attention to flavors, textures, presentation. Excellent service. Yum!!
Extremely beautiful ambience. Classy. Tasteful. Food was above and beyond expectations. I had the best gluten-free pizza I have ever had in my life. And I'm picky. The food is fresh, high quality, and amazing. I highly recommend this place for extraordinary food, fabulous ambience, great service, and an overall pleasant experience. This restaurant would be great for special occasions and romantic dates. Lovely. Parking was easy. In a quiet neighborhood.
Food was amazing!!
I am a return customer. Great food. Great place
The location is ok, the building and interior is really nice. The service was prompt, but nothing special in terms of explanations or suggestions. The tables for 2 are on the small side. The food disappointed on my side; was good, but nothing exceptional on my partner’s side. I always have the generic pasta, in this case the Angel Hair with diced tomatoes, olive oil, garlic, and basil, when going to a new Italian restaurant. This was one step up from bland, an over cooked, stewed tomatoes, pasta murdered blend that was on level below good and definitely nothing special. Other menu items looked interesting, but if this is an example of how they cook the rest of the offerings, I’m not anxious to return. Since my partner’s experience was ok, and the wine was good, I’ll probably return again, if only because I like the room so much.
This is a great find, one we'll return to. The one small drawback is entirely beyond Avanti's control - its location affords diners a panoramic view of a gas station on one corner and a tire store on another. Concentrate on the fine food, service, and room instead, and you'll feel like you're in a more scenic spot.
My friends and I had a great time!! The service was excellent, very attentive! Wine selection is great!!
Our waiter was wonderful. Every dish he recommended was over-the-top delicious; the wine was fabulous. I was there for a business lunch and appreciated that we could all hear each other without having to talk over tvs or loud music. I wish I lived closer as I would eat here more often!
Great food and service...will return soon. Great gluten free options.
It was great.
Excellent happy hour including after 8:30 pm.
My family and I had a wonderful lunch at Avanti -- fantastic food, service, and value. Each of us ordered off the lunch menu, and were very pleased with our meals: pasta was tasty and cooked to perfection, the seafood risotto (a daily special) was flavorful and well balanced, and the chicken was delicious. Salads were crisp and fresh, the soup of the day was delicious, and the chocolate mousse cake had just the right balance of cake, mousse, and cookie crust. The service was attentive and friendly. We really appreciated the server's knowledge of the menu and enthusiastic recommendations.
Very impressed with the Caesar salad and dinner bread which are non greasy and flavorful. The seafood risotto was excellent and very reasonably priced. Will definitely go back.
I visit this restaurant when I am in Pasadena very good service , food and staff
This restaurant is always faithful with a delicious meal and great service. We come here often.
Fine restaurant which serves Italian cuisine and pizzas. It's good for a romantic evening as well as family gatherings. From being greeted at the front door to being served at the table, there is a lot of attention to detail and service.
A little lackluster ... tolerable food, but not great. Service friendly, but slow.
The food here is excellent. The beef bolognese is delicious. Our server was very considerate of our timing, as we were heading to a play after dinner. The tables for two tend to be very close together and it’s a bit noisy, but well worth it.
One should not have to ask for a pasta spoon at an authentic Italian restaurant! This was our second visit to Avanti. The first time was good. The second time left us to continue our search for the ultimate Italian restaurant in Pasadena. Things began to be bad upon entrance. The owner is not welcoming at the front desk. Supremely lacking in ebullience, he made us wait while he sat others who did not have reservations. The signature cocktail, which I remembered as being quite good, was overly bitter. The A team barman must have had the night off. The service throughout our time at the restaurant was inconsistent, due to the fact that we had no less than six, maybe seven servers. One brought us water. Another brought us oil and vinegar. A third brought us bread. One took our order, yet another delivered our order. I ordered pasta. The young lady who delivered the pasta did so without a pasta spoon, although spoons were plentiful in a bowl to the left of where she picked up the order. The food was very bad. My angel hair pasta with chicken was a total disaster. The pasta was overcooked and soggy. The diced tomatoes were out of a can. There were eight small round processed chicken nuggets that were tasteless, buried in the angel hair. The salmon that was ordered was not fresh. On another note, if one is to have the bistro type kitchen facing the diners, please tell the "chefs" to doff the baseball caps and don chef toques and white kerchiefs. At least then, the ambiance would be improved in an otherwise dismal dining experience.
You really have to try the Steak. And the Salmon. And the Martinis.
Great overall experience and will definitely be back.... looking forward to this second visit!
Love the place , great food and service . Girlfriend and i definitely will be back. .
Usually this place is great all around but unfortunately my last visit was a little disappointing. Waiter forgot it was my daughter's birthday and brought her dessert without the sparklers and singing. The dessert is not complimentary for days either. Also, the ice tea tasted stale. Veggie sliders are usually yummy were bland. I'm hoping it was just an off night. Still reccomend but maybe not as bday celebration.
I went with my husband and another couple. We had a great time. The food the service and atmosphere was great. I will go again with more friends and will recommend it to others. I love the bar. We had a drink at the bar while waiting for our friends to arrive.
Nice restaurant with good Italian fare. The location is on a large street, but the building has lots of large glass windows, and it looks pretty upscale. There's a fireplace at one end, and the ambience is nice.
Does get a little bit loud, but nothing bothersome. Check-in was a little slower, but service was good. I really enjoyed Di Mare (clams and tiger prawns in a white wine sauce) and calamari were good. Beef Bolognese and Lasagna were just so-so. I have a feeling the red sauce pastas are not as good as the lighter white/wine sauces. Didn't get to try non-pasta dishes as we were craving pasta, but there's pizza and meat entrees available. We had mentioned we were there for a birthday, but restaurant did not offer any celebratory gestures.
