I loved the new furniture and decor, especially when we were seated away from the bar this time (it's really loud and noisy there). My wagyu dinner was delicious (yummy demiglace) and came with tiny carrots and patty pan squashes that were all about 1" long (not terribly flavorful, but so delightful to look at). My husband loved his John Dory's cream sauce and the accompanying green almonds and seaweed, but the serving was small and we had to take him out for a burger afterward. It was an exquisite presentation, though, especially with the minuscule preserved Meyer lemon (about 1/2" in diameter!) It's a bit pricey but worth it for the lovely and unusual sauces and ingredients. The peach tart was tasty but a bit tough--stale, perhaps? If we lived closer, Avant would definitely be on my celebration list.
Was a very hot day but still decided to pop in. Place was very hot, but nice design and lovely location. Complexity in the menu and limited variety makes it a bit limited on what you are hoping to do or eat. Food was good. Prices were high, but typical for a resort. Service was good. Disappointed that happy hour prices weren't much less than regular menu. Also felt pretentious. $12 for 5 pieces of cheese. $12 for wings..

RBI Avant is certainly one of the top three restaurants in San Diego for fabulous food with a changing menu, wonderful, attentive service and a nice, upscale vibe. FYI: Their crudo can match the best sushi restaurants, like Sushi Ota.
Our servers were amazing, starting from the happy hour waitress to the dining room. All 3 ladies were great! Loved the food ;) we will definitely go back again soon!
Very nice. Our ambiance went from intiment to energetic when a group was seated right next to us. I would have preferred less intrusion.
Food and service were good, but the atmosphere was spoiled by 3 large groups of business people either conducting a meeting or just eating and talking loudly. We had to get our table changed since we couldn't even carry on a conversation with each other. Unfortunately, we will be in no hurry to return.

Not only is there food incredible, but they’re always so kind to us even when we bring out young children there.
Yet another great dining experience at Avant. Crista is an excellent server who explains the dishes in great detail. The new entrees are perfect for the season and well composed. Especially the Lamb Loin and Short Rib. The Dry Aged Ribeye has always been and is still delicious. The new sides...Roasted Vegetables and Roasted Fingerling Potatoes were great as well. Thanks for leaving the Donuts and Baileys on the dessert menu!
Our waitress was highly attentive and made an off menu strawberry lemonade. The food was fantastic and the staff there is very friendly and attentive. The restaurant was very clean and had live music the night we were there. With two kids in tow we almost felt normal eating out.
The menu is a bit more eclectic for my taste but the food quality and service is good.
The food, wine, ambience, and wait staff were all good or better. But after spending $400 I was insulted by the surcharge added on. What, they pay their wait staff minimum wage at this swanky restaurant? End even if they do, the surcharge lost it's protest value months ago. Now it is just an undisclosed surprise to me, the paying customer.
We will not return until this surcharge is eliminated.
First time at AVANT was not impressed. I feel for the money they need to give a bit more food on the plate. I had the short rib which was ok not great. It’s not a memorable meal easily forgotten. Won’t be going back.
Service was super slow, our server not attentive, lacked class and professionalism. We ordered appetizers and a few small plates. Flavors did not meld, it wasn’t enjoyable. We had high expectations based on reviews and for being at RB Inn. We regretted not ordering just a steak, might have been a better experience.
Such a fantastic dining experience, the food, the service, the ambiance, one overall perfect evening. Our server Rob was extremely knowledgeable and his assistant Tiana was very attentive to our every need. The food was unique and delicious, certainly a culinary experience that no one in the area offers. We're looking forward to our next experience as there are many menu options that we are wanting to try.

We received excellent service! The wait staff greeted us as we walked to our table. We received a choice of water preference and fresh hot bread upon being seated.
Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. He offered pairing suggestions with our meal choices. Our meals were beautiful and delicious. The manager came over to check on our meal and service. He was very polite and friendly. We had everything we needed to enjoy a great birthday celebration! Highly recommend Avant at the RB Inn. We will be back very soon!
The food was good and the service was excellent, but there were many large parties with uncontrolled little kids. Live music made it louder. Unsupervised little kids were running around, squealing, and jumping over steps from bar to restaurant. A baby less than a year old was crawling up and down the stairs, no parent in sight. A waitress was spotting the baby to make sure she didn't tumble down the stairs.
Peaceful and elegant setting. Our server, Krista was friendly and knowledgeable. The food was exquisite and perfectly prepared. I highly recommend this hidden gem!
The food was excellent! I enjoyed every entree that was placed in front of me. The service was exceptional! I will definitely return!
I had to go back tonight to order what I had last night. The wagyu duo is absolutely amazing. Chef Chris knocked it out of the park with this one. The entire staff makes me feel like a million bucks and I truly appreciate that. I had the oysters tonight which were very good but Chef Scott’s cocktail sauce pushes them over the top with the perfect amount of Horse radish spice. Shoutout to the restaurant leadership, Tyson and Tara. The staff once again ensures that this place gets 5 stars. Again you have to request Crista and Tianna’s section for the best experience.
We started on the patio for happy hour and had some fantastic buffalo cauliflower bites the duck confit poutin was absolutely delicious. The cocktails were spectacular and had great flavors. Once we moved inside we were greeted by Angel who offered us water and said that our server would be with us shortly. Sal came to the table and described all the dishes beautifully but I couldn’t decide what I wanted. I had the turbot which just like Sal said an underwater adventure. M my date had the lamb loin and it looked like it was plucked straight from the forest. Fantastic flavors and excellent service by Jessica Sal and Angel. We can’t wait to return!
Yet another amazing dinner! Great place all around from the wait staff to the Chef and GM. I always get the best service and recommendations from Crista (highly recommend you request her section). Tianna backs her up and provides amazing attention to detail service. An the GM, Tyson, always stops by to make sure everything is to your liking. The new Wagyu duo dinner is off the charts good. Must have!
Food was average and service lacked
Mother’s Day brunch. We waited 10 minutes even when we showed up a couple minutes early. The buffet was set up in 3 different areas and overall food quality was good but it seemed like they ran out of something (maybe sushi since we saw wasabi on the table) and didn’t replace while we were there
Not a good Mother’s Day brunch experience. Selection of buffet foods was minimal (ie, bagels, cream cheese, onions, capers, but no lox; salami, but no bread or cheeses; few salads; 2 entrees; 3 mini desserts, mini cheesecake, mini pudding, or the ubiquitous macaroons. No cake, no pastries ( some of like too indulge on Mother’s Day). Layout of food was absurd-omelet station was so far
away that any other foods would be cold by the time the omelet was done. Most importantly, my mobility-challenged mother could only get to one food station unassisted; and since she doesn’t like to ask for help, she ate very little.
For the price, better to go to La Valencia or pay a bit more and go to Rancho Valencia.
We went to Avant for Mother's Day brunch. My mother, wife, 11 year old daughter and myself. The food was good although the selection was quite limited. At the omlete station there were only three choices to pick from. The waited asked if we would like three mimosas and stated they were endless. When the bill came, the mimosas were $42, $14 each. A typical brunch mimosas are included. The waiters and bus boy were good although it is a buffet and they only need to clear plates and fill drinks. The desert rack had a limited selection and the desserts were just average. The bill was $330 for the four of us which I think was over priced for the selection and quality of food. We could have dined at a nice steak restaurant with incredible service and food for less money. We were not impressed and I would not recommend this restaurant unless you are prepared to pay high dollar for mid range food.
Avant is a very cool restaurant located in Rancho Bernardo resort. Excellent cocktails, food and wine - highly recommended.
My mom & I went for dinner the other night and it was an amazing experience. I’ve lived in San Diego for 4 years and this was one of the best meals I’ve had here.
We had the Dungeoness crab small plate and the white asparagus salad (made from the chef’s garden!) and then the stinging nettle gnocchi and the Korobuta pork short rib.
Everything was outstanding but the gnocchi was definitely a standout!
The service was also really amazing! Angelique & Jessica took great care of us! I had a cocktail at the pool earlier in the day & asked if I could get it at the restaurant. They didn’t have it on the menu but asked the bartender to make one for me. They made great recommendations on the food as well.
We sat on the outdoor patio overlooking the golf course and could hear the live music from Veranda (their restaurant downstairs that’s also amazing!)
The setting was absolutely gorgeous and would be great for any special occasion, date night, or business dinner.
We can’t wait to go back!
This was a birthday dinner. We arrived early and the hostess was willing to accommodate us or we could wait for a special table, which was fine. Service was very good, the right amount of attention/distance. Good food, great drinks and a good wine list...
Food and service was absolutely outstanding.
It was a milestone date for us. They were very attentive to our needs. Dinner was delicious. Dry aged ribeye is enough for two meals. Afterwards we went to the bar and the staff there was a lot of fun.
Our Waiter, Ron, was terrific. He walked us thru the menu and wine list. All business associates enjoyed the meal. Thanks Ron.
Simply put, a hidden gem. Second visit here and it was nothing less than the previous visit. The food, the ambiance, the service were all perfectly paired with a great bottle of wine. Christa and Shane were both fantastic and very knowledgeable about their new menu and were able to answer all of our questions. The cocktails we started with were fantastic. My favorite the great white buffalo. Dinner was quite devious. The beef duo was on another level and the chilled squid ink noodles were divine. We highly recommend and will begin to frequent this hidden gem.
My son and his date ate at Avant before their Senior Prom. It was glorious! He asked me to write that the food was extraordinary and the dessert was "the best thing he ever ate!" Beautiful surroundings, elegant inside, and the service was wonderful.
The food was delicious! The wine was good and the view on the patio was nice! Our server, Dalton, was outstanding! He was very professional while being extremely friendly! He was definitely one of the best I’ve seen! That alone would make me want to go back there!
Food and service are always good. The new spring dishes on the menu are well presented and flavorful to both the eye and the palate.
Amazing food and service. The environment is very delightful.
