Great food and good service. The noise was extreme. It is difficult to have a conversation at dinner. The music was too loud for dining environment.

We love to dine at the Avant! The atmosphere is very inviting. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The food is always great. The dishes are crafted in a very creative yet delicious fashion. They have a full bar, fantastic wine list, and craft beers. Makes for a wonderful evening!

Server (Krista) went above and beyond - we wanted a coffee drink not on menu. she told us that she didn't think they had ingredients. She then went back , found the ingredients and made the drink herself. otherwise, she was excellent.
desert was over the top - donuts and coffee with ice cream - donuts were freshly made.

Avant was a perfect dinner night with our friends! From the great appetizers (including very fresh oysters!) and wonderful entrees to the soft live music in the background, our night was very special. The food was excellent (we each tried something different), and we can't wait to try another dish next time.
Simply stunning from start to finish! Hostess greeted us with a warm welcome and escorted us right over to a table. Upon sitting we were greeted by our server Sal with bubbles in hand. Someone must have mentioned it was our anniversary. The server was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave us the specials for the evening. Each dish was absolutely divine. Great flavors and presentations that made us wanting more. We’re looking forward to our next trip and are excited for the new menu to come. Job very well done.
My husband and I celebrated my birthday on Saturday night. It was a great experience at Avant. I had the halibut and my husband had the salmon. Both were excellent and very fresh. Their salad greens were grown on the property. The cocktails and desserts were top quality as well. We will definitely return on our next visit.
We enjoyed our meal. Our wait person was good but not great. We would expect a restaurant with fine dining aspiration would have wait people who are a little more engaging and attentive. The service would not meet the expectations of what Avant aspires to.

Service was very slow. Some of the dishes were outstanding but the calamari was overly breaded and bland.
Was hoping to get to seat out in the patio for the view over the 18th hole, but it was sprinklering and cold, so the hostest seated us in the corner closest to the patio with a view. That was our only disappointment on the visit.
The service was attentive, food was excellent. We happen to be there when there was live music and not too many guests were in the restaurant, so it was nice, quiet, relaxing dinner after the bike ride at Lake Hodges.
Suggest calling first for live entertainment and if you can get the outdoor seating with view over the golf course, that would be better.
Would come back again.

As always Avant was fantastic! The food was great and the prices at happy hour were very very reasonable. I go as often as I can! I only wish they would change up the happy hour menu at least every month or so to keep it fresh.
We arrived 5 mins early to celebrate our valentines dinner and we were seated 20 mins late. We did receive a complimentary glass of wine, but even the food took some time. We didn’t get offered a dessert even though it was our valentines celebration.
Wonderful attentive service by "Rob" and his associates. Enjoyed the recommended oyster selection, then entrees of salmon and duck. Both prepared elegantly and fresh. Not rushed at all and thoroughly enjoyed Avant.

Therefore an early Valentine’s Day. Our waiter was very attentive; when our first two entrée choices were not available we wind up getting the second entrée at no charge – very accommodating.
This is probably the only "best" restaurant between LaJolla and San Diego. The menu has many selections and the chef is VERY creative with subtle touches of vegetables, starches, meat/fish and seasoning. To the restaurant's credit they actually have a very large Chef's Garden that provides extremely fresh vegetables and herbs. My husband and I have eaten here many times the past few months while attending meetings and have NEVER been disappointed.
I have many shout-outs to the staff (Christa is so warm and welcoming) - kudo's to management for finding such talent.
Now to food - favorite crudo is the lobster with aoli, but black cod topped with foie grois topped with cavier is a close second. The 16 hours braised shortrib melts in your mouth and even chicken which can be ordinary is special because of the broth and garden vegetables.
For dessert - gotta have the donuts, next best is the fig creation with a chunk of honeycomb.

We go here once a year and every year the menu is different, reflecting what is in season and the chef’s whimsy. Everything I have eaten here was original and delicious. I usually try to pick something that sounds unique and have been surprised by how well the flavors work together.
On my first visit to Avant, I had a spectacular dining experience with business clients. I was talking up Avant to my wife and told her we had to go back.
Our reservation was at 8pm and waited until 8:40 to be seated. They claimed they didn’t have any tables but upon arrival at our seats other tables around the restaurant were empty. Just odd. They did however realize the mistake and brought over some drinks on the house.
Our waiter was busy and didn’t take our order for another 20 minutes and we were about to get up as he walked over to introduce himself. He told us about the specials and some menu items that were not available. After we ordered, he came back to tell us the crudo was now unavailable.
The fruit and cheese plate looked and tasted great however the runner spilled some juice from the plate on my wife.
It was a tale of mistakes and i wish we could have the night back.
They brought a few free apps to bury the hatchet but the damage was done.
Overall the food was good and we enjoyed the creativity of the chef. The doughnuts and coffee were a highlight.
Restaurant was very loud. I specifically asked for a quieter location when booking and we were seated close to the live music??? Ordered salmon and halibut and the salmon was raw in the middle and had a slice of raw jicama on the top. What are you supposed to do with a large piece of raw jicama!? Unfortunately, this was our first and last time for this restaurant, we will go out on the Veranda, the food is much better.

Always a great meal at Avant! Everyone makes you feel like the most important person. I had the pleasure of being served by the best in the business, Crista, and her understudy Tianna who was fabulous! The two of them make for a great night of service. There was no detail over looked. The manager Tami even payed me a visit just to make sure everything was perfect, and it was. I recommend requesting Crista and her team when making a reservation. I can't forget to mention Travis the executive chef. If it wasn't for his leadership, this place would not be a 5 star restaurant like it is.
Restaurant week and we took advantage
Very nice dining experience. We were there to celebrate my son's 30th birthday and it was an elegant dinner. All the dishes were very well prepared and presented. A combination of unique flavors and ingredients. Oyster bar was excellent if you like unusual oysters. Interesting to try different types. Very distinct different flavors. Had a ham wrapped monkfish which is my new favorite way to have that fish. Prices were not outrageous but were on the higher end. This will not be a deterrent to future visits. The service and unique plates were worth the price.
Had the halibut entree and it was delicious. Also, the margarita was very flavorful! The Inn continues to have great food!
My son and I enjoyed the meal! The chef gave us extra oysters. The waiter was outstanding and the food wonderful. The donuts ate a must!
One of our favorite restaurants. Well rounded menu and the food and service is consistently good.
We had a table for 8 and the service was great - even though the restaurant was full. Drinks are creative and there are two wine lists - one with reasonably priced wines and a special list with reserve wines and reserve prices for special occasions.
There are a lot of options on the menu and very reasonably priced. Portions are also generous. Everyone ordered different starters and entres and no one was displeased with their choice.
Is this a restaurant to travel to from San Diego or La Jolla - no - but if you are staying in the area, this is a great option.
We were very pleased to enjoy a special dinner here. The remodel of the restaurant was well done. Portion sizes are moderate. Prices seemed appropriate for quality and flavors. A top pick for couples or adult families looking for a cut above. We will be coming back!
Food was very good except the short rib was a bit sticky with an over powering sauce. The duck and black cod were better. Had a wonderful and and interestingly displayed persimmon salad. The food, service and ambiance were good, but except for the salad, the food was not all that unique and the ambiance really feels like a hotel dining room. Probably a good place to meet with a bookclub or business meeting, but does not for a special night out.
Serving size on small size. Ambient noise in room was over the top making casual / normal- level table conversation difficult. Some attention should be given to room sound proofing.
Our waitress was terrible. She barely checked on her tables. She tried to over charge us but lucky we caught it on tbe bill. She tried to blame it on a "computer glitch" and said it happened to a couple other people which I took it that she tried to over charge them as well. She was not surprised when we brought it up to her. We went for New Years's eve dinner so we were disappointed walking away from this restaurant.
Server was incredible. Food was excellent. Dishes were well-timed. The night we attended there were a number of large family parties and some children were making a bit of noise. That knocked the ambiance down a couple of stars. Would highly recommend otherwise. We had the monkfish and grass fed dry aged ribeye. Superb!
