Avalon Links Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
The dining experience was very good...... Although this is not a complaint, when I asked for a 3:30 reservation, we were told that there were only 2 times available 4PM or 4:30 PM on Jan. 27th 2018, I called on Wed, Jan 24 2018. we arrived at 3:40 PM and were seated immediately.
we left at 5PM, that entire time there were at least 40 to 45 seats with no one sitting in them.
Which seems sort of odd that I was told that only two seating times were available 4 or 4:30
Have never had a bad meal here. Wait staff is always excellent. Menu and specials are updated often. Mixed drinks are excellent as is wine selection. I have had breakfast, lunch and dinner here and all were excellent. Visited in peak vacation season and off season. Always excellent.
We usually have a good experience at The Links. But our last meal there, on Sunday, was below of what we expected. The service was very slow although they were not very crowded. The servers seemed very inexperienced. The server that took our drink order didn’t know what a tonic drink was, although she knew what a gin & tonic was. The food was good.
The two orders of lamb chops came out over done and tough. They could not eat them. The 1st cup of coffee was over an hour old and stale at the waiter did make a fresh pot for us. The salmon was overdone it relatively small but the scallops were excellent.
We've eaten here many times and this was somewhat disappointing -- it's usually very good. We have a party of eight and three were not that happy.
Very disapointed in the change in menu . All the things that my family loved (seafood pot pie, braised short ribs, one of the past dishes, oh and the duck breast to name a few) are all gone from the menu. I ordered prime rib and it was tough. Will never order again. This the 2nd time and the last. I might just go there to have the clams casino soup. Oh yes the soup or salad option is $2 extra with your entree unless it's one of the specials.
We went to Avalon Links for the Mother's Day Brunch buffet. The food was very good and plentiful. Because there was only one morning seating at 10:30 am, it was quite chaotic in the buffet lines and service was slow since we all needed something at once. After the mad rush, everything was fine. There were only two of us for the buffet and the restaurant added a 20% gratuity. This was rather steep for buffet service. Also, there was a $5.00 charge for coffee on our bill. Really? Include that in the price.
Solid choice for everyday dining. Early bird specials (4-5:30) if you are so inclined. Been here for lunch and dinner and have never had a bad meal. Nice menu choices with daily specials.
Also open for breakfast, and the parking lot is always crowded at breakfast, a good sign with multiple local options available. Will have to try it for breakfast.
Usually the Links is pretty good. Not tonight. Started with a new hostess who either didn't hear or ignored our request to sit where we could watch the end of the Masters. When we ended up being seated in their overflow space. I asked why we couldn't sit in the main dining room where there are two TVs and there were empty tables. She said those tables were all reserved. But we also had a reservation. She didn't understand this and became defensive. She also stated she was brand new and was hired on the spot today after her interview. Can't imagine how she'll handle summer crowds. It wasn't worth further discussion so we just sat in the overflow space which had zero ambience. The waitress we had rushed everything, never refilled waters and was not someone who's ever waited in us before. The food was only fair. Usually the food and waitstaff are good but not tonight. We have enjoyed eating here for years but tonight was really disappointing.
On this visit we had their Thanksgiving Buffet. It something to please everyone. The appetizers included choice of soup, fresh peeled shrimp, salads, too many side dishes to mention. The entrees included filet mignon, turkey, crap cakes, ham and their were 5 or 6 choices of desserts. There was plenty of all the food and you could go back as many times as you wanted. This is probably our 4th or 5th Thanksgiving at the Links in addition to the many other times we have gone their for dinner and happy hour on Friday evenings with the music of Jim Bannach.
Food was good at Thanksgiving buffet. You offer a great variety. The Chicken soup was exceptionally delicious. Our server this year seemed a little overwhelmed and he only had to handle drinks. Also was a little annoyed at the carving station when I asked for end (more well-done) slices of the beef. The chef acted like It I was asking for something difficult. I dont eat turkey so for $29.95, I should get the only meat I ate as I like it. My entire party thought that adding a 20% gratuity onto the check was a bit much considering it was a buffet. The young girl who came around and cleared our dishes was more deserving of the tip than our actual server. I am sure that we will be back next year for Thanksgiving, though.
