Ava provided the perfect location for my party of 12! I'd tried getting reservations at other restaurants who wouldn't work with my party size for a brunch event I was planning, I'm happy those restaurants didn't work out because Ava turned out to be exactly what I was hoping for!!! I'd suggest this place to anyone looking for great food, amazing service, and a cool space to enjoy.
Excellent meal! Our server, Casey, gave great wine & food recommendations. We’ll definitely return.
Always excellent food and service ... hip ... authentic ... energetic ... good vibes ...
Cool place. Great food and service
Celebrated daughter’s 17th birthday with a few of her friends. Food was great and they brought out a little special dessert for us to share.
We were celebrating my wife’s birthday. The food was outstanding and, Sophie, our waitress could not have been more attentive. Her suggestions made the night more memorable.
Excellent varied menu. Fair prices. Waiter very attentive and knowledgeable, but often MIA.
AC not working!!!!
Our food was amazing and our server (service)was just as good. Definitely will come back.
Wonderful first time visit for a. birthday lunch! I love the menu options and look forward to returning for dinner soon!
Veronica is an outstanding server, Very attentive and a charming character. They have some of the best pizza around.
Great food, super staff, and always a pleasure to go there with friends. Easy free parking. Need reservations on weekends, Bar area gets very crowded.
Nice Italian restaurant with great food and interesting cocktails.
Took a little longer than needed for a server to come to our table to at least take a drink order... we had to go up to hostess desk to finally get a server. Also... asked for a mild.. not too spicy Bloody Mary and rcvd it with olives with spicy red peppers inside. Ordered the smoked salmon Benedict and poached eggs were hard inside instead of being creamy yoke. It was my first time at Ava... I plan on giving it another try at some point... may have just been a off day:)
Great food and service!
Appetizers were good, pasta a bit over cooked
Restaurant temperature was extremely uncomfortable
Outstanding from the start! Celebrated son’s birthday and everything was delicious!!! 3 appetizers: Scallops, mussels, and shrimp scampi.
Beautiful tomato and mozzarella salad and wonderful entrees! I loved the swordfish special and others thoroughly enjoyed the salmon entree and chicken parmesan. Mouthwatering chocolate treat to finish off our meal. Service was excellent as well and Hats off to chef J.L. Lister. It was a very enjoyable evening!
Great concept needs help with execution. Some very good elements offset by some bad choices. Very good, highly promising house-made pasta laden with porcini's plus a 63 degree egg (excellent concept), but way over-sauced. Octopus fail: not tender plus ruined by drenching in balsamico = too California, not enough Italy. Disappointing wine list must have been designed by a distributor. Noisy room. Worth another try, but order very carefully.
Went for brunch. Food was great and the servers were friendly. We had the breakfast pizza which was outstanding,, the sausage and peppers omelet which was cooked just right and one of the bowl concoctions which was very good. The place was lively and fun, will definitely go again.
Always a nice time
Homemade pasta was great!! Service was good, a little slow at the end as it was getting busier. A little pricey for what it is but a fun atmosphere.
Outstanding food and service. I recommend!
We made a last minute reservation for brunch for a friends birthday and Ava and staff were more than accommodating for our party of 10. They had the table ready early so we had time to decorate. I had the breakfast pizza and it was SOOOOO amazing. We had bottomless mimosas for only $15 too! I'm glad I went with Ava for brunch. It's a great spot with great food and a great ambiance. I definitely recommend for brunch!
Food was not as good as expected. Relatively small portion of pasta. Ambiance and service were good.
Came in on a Friday night for a date, Meghan was our server. She was delightful and offered us the nightly specials. I went with the pasta special and it delicious, Robert ordered the Orange lamb shank. It was tender and fell off the bone. We both enjoyed a cocktail and glass of wine. We can’t wait to come back for another meal.
Probably the best meatballs I have ever had. The scallop appetizer was to die for. The service was amazing too. I will definitely be back.
Ava's is a neighborhood dining place. The food is always good and consistent. The craft cocktails are great and the variety of wines good. They have great pizza's - always a favorite! We are never disappointment. Eating in the bar or in the dining room is perfect for a last minute date or just a place to hang out with friends.
service was awesome, perfect attentiveness and professionally accommodating. food as always fabulous. had the Chicken Parmesan with Bucatini fresh made noodles which was perfect and the salad was amazingly fresh.
Very consistent service and food quality.
Tried the Ribeye this time and was not disappointed. Flavorful, juicy cut of meat. Awesome, friendly staff.
Always satisfied and always come back.
The food was awesome, the server had very little patience with letting you speak. Besides that it was great
The food and service is always spectacular. Great place for a date or a group of friends. One of my favorites in Tampa
Would recommend but with reservations. A little overpriced . Scallops certainly very overpriced.
In general I would say "Fair" - but do not expect 'outstanding'. We understand that the Brunch is great.
In all fairness, willing to give it another try.
Love the restaurant during regular hours but skip the brunch unless you’re 25 and want to work off last nights hangover. Way too loud to hear people at your table unless they are screaming. Menu is very limited for brunch.
Been to Ava before great food good service
Can't ask for a better meal
The location and atmosphere is wonderful, however I noticed just enough standing around of some staff or management, I could not tell which, and being in the business it would be nice to see a server get a little support. White wine with apps, then we ordered a bottle of red for dinner which came out when the entrées were 3/4 finished. I’m certain the intent is to get phenomenal service, and our server was a wonderful person who certainly was informed and diligent, yet the pace and the attentiveness was a little off, likely due to lack of support.
It was our 2nd visit to Ava's. Went out with good friends to catch up. The service was poor. Had to ask for refill on soda 4x, she never asked the drinkers at the table if they wanted another and we were highly aware of the hostess anxious for us to leave after paying our check but still talking (she went by our table and pointedly stared us down).
The food was just OK but the service is the reason we will not return
Love the place. Food and service outstanding
We went with high hopes having seen the reviews on Opentable and Yelp. While we didn't mind the industrial design, it lacked a certain design focal point that would have pulled it out of the ho hum. The food was descent, not terrific. Very thick, dense biscuits that didn't seem to have enough baking soda to make them rise properly or they were overly kneaded, one of the two. Service was also middle of the road as the servers all seemed more interested in talking to each other, than waiting on their tables. The eggs and hollandaise were good, the bottomless mimosa was a good deal, and the selection on them menu was also good. We've moved here from Washington D. C. were everything is world class, so while this may be really good for Tampa, it doesn't make the cut for us.
Wonderful brunch, never rushed and the Florentine Eggs were too die for!
One of my favorite Brunch spots in Tampa. The Breakfast Pizza is fantastic.
We were seated promptly and our server was quick to pop in thankfully as we were not given a wine/drink menu. The ambiance is nice, and the noise levels were reasonable. The menu is well written and offers up a lot of promise, but the delivery was just short of expectation. In the realm of $$$ restaurants, Ava misses the mark. The execution of many of the dishes was just not there. The wines were overpriced and underwhelming. I could see it being a nice spot for drinks and a pizza, but I wouldn't recommend it above that.
