Autostrada Ratings and Reviews
My boyfriend and I went to Autostrada to have dinner with my best friend and her husband. My boyfriend has the gnocchi in bolognese and it was so good. The gnocchi was fluffy and not heavy feeling. I had the fish special, seared tuna and it was very good. My best friend had the daily ravioli which she enjoyed very much. Overall we had a great experience, our server wasn't very intrusive as we were a chatty bunch. One drawback though is the restaurant filled by the time we were ready to leave and couldn't get our servers attention. By this point this was the time between we declined coffee and dessert and receiving the bill, this was about 20-30min. So instead of bringing the bill over so that we could settle up and then leave when we were ready, we spent a good amount of time trying to get our bill. Overall the experience was great but the ending was a bit slow.
It was New Year's Eve and the restaurant was not even that busy...and the service was poor and slow. The woman we had, don't know her name, shortish brunette (long hair), a little on the chubby side...very snide. We waited for our bill for over half an hour, had to get the greeter at the front of the restaurant to finally get it for us and our server, the brunette with the attitude didn't even have the guts to come out and say something. That's why she got a $14.00 tip.
I've been here before and enjoyed it. This time we had pasta and it was terrible. I think they used bruscetta mix in the tomato sauce for my spaghetti. It didn't taste authentic at all. My husband's gnocchi bollonaise was brown. It looked awful and upset his tummy the whole next day. My fabric chair was full of food stains. GROSS! They should consider properly chilling their red wine ... it was warm. This time was no good. Next time we'll stick to Pizza and white wine.
Service was not great. Server was nice but very socially awkward and seemed to be rushing the table. Limited beer options due to beer order delays with the restaurant. Overall food was okay - not on par with the price being paid. Mashed potatoes were bland, pasta dish and chicken also bland. Creme brûlée cold on the inside. Espresso was burnt. Food quality has gone downhill since last visit.
DATE NIGHT: HUBBY'S BIRTHDAY!!!
This place definitely has great food... No doubt about it! You want great food at a more than fair price.. this is where you must go.
The Risotto as well as the Surf and Turf were to die for and the grilled calamari was cooked to perfection.
The wait staff were really welcoming, polite, eager to please as well as very knowledgeable about the Menu. However, overall seemed disorganized and offered inconsistent service. At times they made the service feel rushed and at times would not visit the table for long periods of time leaving us waiting to order more drinks, water, while our food got cold.
The decor was inviting and had a fun and contemporary feel while the atmosphere seemed to draw more families and large groups for
birthday, work, family functions etc. For the couples wanting a romantic night out or for the groups wanting to enjoy a more fun, upscale adult night out with friends this may not be the place.
It is definitely very kid friendly and has a cozy familial atmosphere as there were many families with babies and toddlers until well after 10pm on a Saturday night.
I would definitely take my kids there for pizza on a weekend or a great pasta and will definitely return with friends but not for a romantic date night or intimate
I recently ate here for a birthday celebration. I booked it because the location was convenient. I read the negative reviews on the same day before going and started having second thoughts. But it was too late to book somewhere else. The food is just not good. All 3 of our mains were consistently bad. The starter that I had also bad. None of us even came close to finishing any of the dishes that we ordered and it wasn't because we weren't hungry. I think that says it all. The interior is very nice. That's the only positive I can say.
We did not have a great experience at auto strada...the waiter was very abrupt...rude..and seemed to have no time for us rushing around...forgetting to ask for drink orders from two of us (party of 4)...our food was sent to a different table...we asked for our bills to be separated and the waiter was not very accomadating and made it seem like a huge effort to do so...the pasta dishes had a way too much sauce almost drowning in it... Asked for more bread he did not bring any again huge inconvenience ...asked about a dish another table had he said it was only for a Special order so do not bother asking about that...in a very rude way!
Overall the food was not bad...but the crowded tables and the terrible service made us have a terrible experienced at Autostrada.
Food was okay, for an expensive price! Waiter was pushing for up sales. He was also very quick with us trying to order and quick to give us our check. My mom ordered one of the featured items and didn't realised for a plate of pasta to be $36. As a server myself, I thought as a restaurant you should be letting people know what the price of this item was.
It was a very busy Saturday night. Our appetizers were not put through and therefore never came. I expected it to be more authentic Italian. However, was very disappointed in the mushroom risotto, as well as their pizza. The menu is quite limited. Not the worst experience but I would not go again. If you do go try one of their mains, I did see other people's plates and the mains (meat/fish dishes) looked very tasty and well presented. Maybe I just ordered the wrong menu items...so stay away from the pizzas and risotto if you know real italian food.
We've been there 4 times now. Service is always great. The food is not consistent. It just isn't seasoned enough. We went on July 16...calamari were bland, warm mushroom salad was bland and always served with different ingredients (I've had it 3 times), the arancini and the sauce, both bland. Season, season, season. Very fundamental.
We took my mother there for Mother's Day but we were disappointed. The food was bland. It lacked flavour. We ordered the seafood risotto to share. It was flavourless and needed salt. My husband ordered the grilled octopus. My brother and I ordered the Parpadelle with Coniglio (pasta with rabbit) done in a red sauce. It lacked salt and flavour and could have done with a little more sauce. They didn't come to our table to offer us cheese or freshly ground pepper. I was halfway through my pasta when our waitress came to our table and I had to ask for it. Adding the cheese helped a great deal. My husband order the salmon and he said it lacked flavour and salt. My mom ordered the European Sea Bass. They deboned it for her in front of us and were meticulous at removing all of the bones. But alas it too was flavourless and lacked salt. I probably wouldn't go back without bringing my salt shaker with me. The good news is that none of us were swollen from excessive salt intake.
Decided to give this place a try on the weekend. The service was slow, and we didn't get serve until about 20 min after being seated. The food is just okay nothing special. It was busy though, probably because of the weekend and right next to Vaughan Mills. Also, there isn't that much options on the menu. It's gonna be a one time deal for me.
We reserve autostrada for special events- anniversaries, family visiting, birthdays. They've never disappointed. Service is excellent, food is spot-on perfectly seasoned, lots of wine to choose from. Management and employees and very friendly and helpful. I look forward to going back.
We liked our experience at Autostrada so much we visited two weeks in a row. Both times equally as good. Tasty dishes, right size portions, good service.
Something I really like about Autostrada - the lighting and sound level in the restaurant. I can see the delicious food on my plate and I can converse easily enough with my guests without raising my voice.
A very nice atmosphere with trendy decor. We had calamari and mushroom salad to start - both were excellent. We each had a pizza and they were awesome! The pizzas are thin but still a big serving so we took half of each home. The seating in the area we were in was around the outside of a round room. It wasn't very private and the tables are close together but still very nice.
