wonderful food creatively prepared and presented. great Margaritas . good services. A real winner
We visited during Portland Dining Month and on a Sunday evening they had the room to the right out of service so our table was inches from the patrons on either side of us. Not the most romantic setting to celebrate an anniversary but we still had a good time.
Our server was wonderful with suggestions on both drinks and entrees. Food was wonderful, atmosphere perfect for a date night. Will most definitely come back.
Fantastic server and food was great!!!!! Already wrote a yelp review. I only take the time to do this when my experience is exceptional, this was.
Delicious food. Excellent selection. Great value.
Good food. Served promptly with gracious hostess.
Wonderfully prepared food and beautiful service from our waitress. Our only complaint is the glassware that martinis are served in - a coup is not the proper glass for that drink. Plus, the martini was really tiny and not good value compared to some of the other drinks. Yes, one should drink margaritas here - and they were terrific! - but one of our party wanted a good martini and she was disappointed.
Their Mole is fantastic and pairs perfectly with the chicken. The special that night was Escolar and was absolutely delicious.
Last minute decision, which turned out to be a great one. Nice space, courteous servers. Food was great! I had the fish tacos, and my husband had the Mexican plate. We'll be back when we are in the area!
The food was ok with a few items that were good, but we’ve been to other Mexican places that are far better for food, selection, service and ambiance.
The service was inexcusably horrible. The staff was rude and inconsiderate. Our server was relatively nice but not present most of the time.
Our group had mixed reviews on the food. Some entrees were served hot, some lukewarm. Flavors varied from unique to bland.
We were a party of six so there was an automatic 20% gratuity. That information was in the fine print and no one told us when the bill arrived.
Beverages were good, but we won’t be returning. There are too many good options in Portland including Dame which right across the street. They went out of their way to make our experience lovely from the moment we walked in the door.
Autentica is one of our go to restaurants. The food is always outstanding and the service friendly and efficient. We just went on Valentine’s Day and while the restaurant was packed and wait times longer than usual, the food was why we went and it delivered as always. Our server, who was running around like crazy, still found the time to check in on us as needed and we had a delightful evening. I was particularly impressed that the hostess and server were both up to date on my nut allegies that o had warned them about when I reserved. We will return soon!
The food was delicious. My friends from Mexico truly say this is one of the most authentic restaurants in town. There is something for everyone and any occasion on the menu. I had the steak with chimichurri, and it was cooked to perfection. Everything was great! Highly recommend!
Great evening, amazing food-- but impossible to get a drink while waiting for our table. Large lost revenue opportunity for the owner!
Unimpressive food. Pretentious “chef.” All around a terrible experience
Always enjoy the food there and the authentic tastes!
The food is as good as always. Changes to the coffee were not pleasing.
Delicious food and tasty margaritas. Mahi Mahi and carnitas were superb, and our waitress was helpful with recommendations. Great atmosphere. This was our second visit, and there will be many more.
This neighborhood gem (walking distance from home) has consistently brought rave revues from friends and relatives alike when dining at Autentica.
Love Authentica every time! The best rellenos anywhere and live the four salsas
Delicious, and as a gluten intolerant individual, I appreciated your waiters taking the time to let me know what was gluten free and what was not. I also love that like 95% of your menu was gluten free. They also patiently brought me 6 samples of red wine... and I ended up getting a bottle of white; the reds were just not sitting well on my palette.
Parking is kind of a challenge, but it is seriously well worth taking the time to find a spot.
I, luckily live only a few blocks away and have been a regular customer for eleven years. I especially love their brunch, now sadly only on Sundays, never a long wait. The tortillas are made to order and so good, perfects for sopping up every last drop of the incredible salsas and mole dishes.
I really recommend the pozole available only on Thursday nights. They usually have a seasonal special and some nice vegetarian options.
Where are the entrees that made Autentica great?? No carnitas, no barbacoa, just one fish dish with boring sides.
Where are the beans, what happened to the ceviche? The black bean tortillas with complimentary salsa?
Too many small plates, not enough entrees.
The food here is always good. Some minor criticisms: The layout isn’t optimal and we were sorta stuck between the door, window, and another table, which was a bit awkward for my less than mobile father. He didn’t mind but I was a bit concerned. This place is a bit on the pricey side but the food is excellent. The pollo is good but it’s literally just half a chicken covered in mole with rice so it’s a bit one dimensional. Some greenery or beans would’ve rounded out the dish - keep that in mind if you’re wanting it. The mole itself is very flavorful, but I like the goat better. The first bathroom was unfathomably warm. Use the second one.
Great holiday meal with visiting family!
Servers chatting at register not waiting on table
Contrary to menu, goat meal included a large green pepper that was volcanic & spoiled dinner
Had a lovely meal with another couple. We split several appetizers and then each couple split an entree. Portions are ample, even for my husband who has a very good appetite. Food is delicious. Especially enjoyed the mole poblano. Rich, just the right balance of sweet and spicy. Will definitely come again.
I continually go back here -- my favorite Mexican Restaurant in Portland. The appetizers are so good, I often will do a buffet of those and be too full for a main course. The food is always fresh and good and well prepared. The restaurant itself has nice evening lighting, you can here your neighbor, etc. It's got a mellow vibe. Love it.
Delicious and mostly intimate place.
Very yummy and our server was amazing!
Waitress advertised an item that contained chicken broth as “vegetarian”. Food was really good otherwise.
The food was well executed and inventive... mole with Painted Hills beef, incredible garlic prawns and delicious margaritas. Thanks Authentica, you're authentic!
A good Mexican restaurant with locally sourced meat and good drinks. This place is aptly named, since the food is authentic regional fare. Excellent service.
What a treat to find red mole that reminds me of home. A special occasion and excellent service. Couldn't have asked for more...except maybe some sound proofing. It was quite noisy is my only complaint.
Each dish has a depth of flavor such that the variety across the meal was astounding. Everything we had, from multiple mole sauces to the tortillas that kept coming, were carefully crafted and beautifully presented. Friendly, attentive, professional service and great atmosphere. Will be back!
They messed something up with our order, so it took way too long to eat. Like an hour and fifteen minutes. The guacamole and the margharitas were great. But everything else was average. The Ling Cod special was extremely salty, and the carnitas were fatty in places. But mainly it was how long it took to eat. Not worth it.
Roasted goat was amazing
We ordered the fish dish, fish taco, el pastor taco appetizer, and a cheesy appetizer. Everything from the simplest dish to more complicated were delight to the taste buds. Little bits of this and that, it all added to the perfect flavor combinations. How does a fried fish taco taste so superb?? Fish dish was absolutely delicious. The waiter was unobtrusive while being thoughtful and attentive. I've been there several times and it's always a lovely experience.
The food was really good but the service was amazing.
Top notch. One of best restaurants in Portland.
It will pick up another star from me if chef backs off the salt.
