Aurum Food & Wine
Located in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Aurum Food and Wine is a new element in dining. Featuring seasonal new American cuisine, this refined yet relaxed, space features bar, dining room and spacious deck seating. Nestled directly along the Yampa River, this watershed has historically provided the lifeline for farming and ranching in the Yampa Valley. We are proud to build upon this rich heritage. Now Open!
Husband loved the bison, done perfectly. I had the house salad, which was recommended by waitress over the vegetable salad and it was outstanding. My entree was the striped bass, which was presented in such a gorgeous manner that I almost snapped a photo. However, portion of fish was very small and the only other source of nourishment were the black beans. They were plentiful but I would suggest less beans and an added third element.
Service was outstanding and I applaud the slower pace of courses along with NOT removing plates until both of us were finished!
We will return.
We love Aurum, great food and atmosphere. Service is outstanding, Chris Lanham is the best server in Steamboat. Highly recommend it!
Food and service outstanding as usual. Our experience at Aurum has been consistently outstanding. Best restaurant in Steamboat
Fantastic experience. Nachos with carnitas, small plate crab cakes and bison skewers with local beers were outstanding. Would return again and again!
The parmesan fries are an absolute must. I also had the Scottish Salmon which was delicious. Very light and not overly salty. Beautiful view of river Howelson Hill. Will go again.
Food was ok and service was pretty awful. The server was brusk, unattentive, and seemed completely overwhelmed though our server did not seem to have many tables. We did enjoy the bison filet ($55), but were unimpressed with our other selections.
My wife and I ate here for our anniversary. Our server, Pat, was very kind and prompt. The food was all delicious and we really enjoyed the atmosphere and the decorum. I will certainly be coming back and highly recommend Aurum for a date night.
Food and service were excellent. I had the elk chop and my wife, the braised lamb.
Our only two sticking points were that the coats should be hung away from the door, since we were there in winter and they were cold when we put them on to leave. A small point. Also, the forks are poorly balanced to the degree that when the tines are turned down for cutting, the fork actually rolled in my hand. The handles are round and smooth. A flatter handle would make for better control. Again, a small point, but when ones fork rolls out of ones hand with each bite, it makes for a bit of a frustrating experience.
Expensive but delicious and great ambiance. Will definitely be going back. Chris and other wait staff are wonderful!
We were celebrating our anniversary. The food was excellent and the service was very good
Excellent Location and Restaurant! We went two times while in Steamboat. Myself and my Husband went on the first occasion, nice and romantic. We then returned with our adult daughters and watched the night skiing. Fantastic views. Great HH and live music in the Bar. Service was great on both occasions. Thank you for the great experience.
a true Gold! a Fantastic place: food, service, view, good taste decor. we visited it twice, the first time it was perfect because it was quiet and we could talk. the second time , we came earlier(7:30), it was a bit too noisy for us so we could not hear each other, but all the rest was as good as the first time! one of the best places in SS.
We had a nice dinner there and enjoyed the wine and cocktails. My biggest complaint is that Open Table lists the restaurant as $, meaning entrees are $30 or less, which it definitely is NOT. It is far more expensive. Next time I won't rely on their categorization, but will scrutinize the menu to confirm the prices.
All was perfect!
Usually great food, however the salmon was over cooked and really over seasoned with onions. Admittedly I am not a fan of onions but for those that are I am sure you would enjoy this dish. Crab cakes and mixed green salads were the highlight of our dinner. They have very good craft cocktails as well. The wine list was also down graded from our last visit, mostly lower end 2016,2015, and a few 2014’s. Cabernet’s Our waiter was really not interested in our 3 top and totally consumed with his other 3 larger tables. We will be back in a few weeks and hopefully will have a better experience.
Great food and service. Consistent yet unobtrusive attention. Flavors to remember. Signed, Jennifer Bretl
Great food and service- just cold inside. The staff made adjustments and finished the night off with a bang!!!
Delicious, great service, able to satisfy a vegan, one of the best restaurants in Steamboat.
Food was delicious.
Our server Chis was outstanding! Trust the suggestions of your wait staff!
Fred really helped make our anniversery dinner great
We were on vacation for the holidays in Steamboat with our youngest son. We tried to get a reservation on Christmas but were unable to. The earliest we could get was on the 28th at 5:15. Fred the maître d called us up to confirm our appointment and helped us change to a later time at 6:15. The place was very crowded when we got there at 6:00. Come to find out they have a happy hour until 6:00 so had we kept our 5:15 it would have been 50% off the small plate menu which turned out to be what my wife enjoyed the best of what we had. We ordered a couple of mixed drinks and wine before dinner and as usual in a high end place you pay a premium for a shot of Jim Beam and a concoction of mescal that taste like a salty dog with tequila. The Bordeaux blend which was recommended was some what of a bust as well being overly light and a little bland. I ordered the crispy bass for 36 dollars and if was on ounce over 4 oz I would have been surprised. I cut it in 1/4th and that was about all she wrote. The crispy part was the skin which was only on half of the fish and on top of the fish was a froth of something which is supposed epicurean but looked as unappetizing as phlegm, all sitting on what could only be described as a 12 oz can of black beans in some unknown sauce. My son got the Elk for $54 which was suggested to be served rare. It was delivered again on a whole parcel of beets and cranberries so when you try to cut the chops it looks like a fresh kill with blood and red beets strewn across the plate. My son was originally given a table knife which made the raw elk impossible to cut it was more of a tearing. When we asked, the waiter apologized for the wrong knife gave him a steak knife and barely improved his option to rend the rare tough meat off the bone. My wife had the crab cakes off the small plate menu which she liked. But the root salad was another one of those impractical culinary attempts. Overall, expected more for $230. Go for happy hour. Service was good
We have visited the Aurum in Breckenridge twice in the last month and fell in love with the restaurant. So we were really looking forward to our meal at the Steamboat location. Sadly, we were disappointed with the food, but the service was great, Chris made an appetizer suggestion which I thought was very tasty, Venison Skewers. My son had Beef Chili and it was delicious. The other menu items we ordered missed the mark: Shaved Root Vegetable Salad - was very difficult to eat, but the idea was unique and flavors worked well; Elk Chop - was bland, barely any flavor and sadly was over-powered by the sweet beets side-dish; Crispy Skin Colorado Bass - presentation was artistic, but the skin was too salty, and the black beans were under-cooked :(. The view however, was spectacular, as we gazed upon snow covered stream and lit up ski mountain.
Fabulous dinner in a wonderful location. Attentive staff and delightfully prepared food.
My girls Birthday. Probably shouldn’t sit a family with a crying baby next to a couple looking to have a special dinner/night. Everything else was fantastic.
We love the Aurum! We usually arrive an hour before our reservation to sit in the bar and enjoy the music. The service is always good and if you are lucky, you can find a seat. Live music at the Aurum is cozy and popular. Husbands favorite dish is the Latin Street Tacos. They are on the appetizer menu but he always gets them as an entree after a soup or salad choice. No disappointment there. I had the daily soup special, followed by the salmon. Perfection! They also serve warm bread and butter. Whenever we are in town, which is often, we make the Aurum one of our stops on every trip.
Nice atmosphere . Very romantic overlooking yampa river
Our anniversary dinner at Aurum was amazing! The service was top notch and since we mentioned it was our anniversary, the maitre d was kind enough to give us two glasses of wine on the house! The food was delicious as well!
Great service and food, and an overall outstanding experience!
So good and fun! Sit by the window for sure!
As a Steamboat local and world traveler, I always come home to Aurum (and their sister restaurant, Table 79). The food, wine and service are dependably excellent. The atmosphere is cozy and contemporary and right on the Yampa River. Cheers!
Great service, food and setting. A memorable evening.
Food was okay, but not anything spectacular. Dietary restrictions seemed really hard for them to accommodate. Service was questionable.. we seemed to have three different waiters.. but didn't feel like any of them were communicating. Ambience was promising, but.. overall, the experience/food was really not worth the price. Could have been an off night for them.. but probably still wouldn't return in the future.
The food was average at best. The waiter brought out the appetizer 10 min after the entree. A bell just didn’t ring in his head. The food presentation was fine. The food itself was below average. The price of the below average food was way above average. We are looking at buying a place in the area. We were wasn’t by the locals. Their review was spot on. E3 one block away. Much better to go there.
Great place, great food at a reasonable price. Wonderful service in a charming atmosphere.
A truly remarkable place to eat. You get a lovely view of a small river, and amazing food (I highly recommend the filet). Excellent wine selection, very good spacing of tables to allow for intimate conversation. A jewel of Steamboat Springs.
Off season locals specials-50 off Main Dishes is a steal. Fabulous flavors, great service and ambiance.
Best meal we've had in town in a while.
From the moment we entered the door, the host had a bad attitude. He was annoyed that we made reservations and showed up 30 minutes early to enjoy a cocktail in the bar. He then forgot about us and sat others before us. Our reservation was at 7 pm - we did not see our table until 745 pm. We came and politely asked him if our table was ready and were met with abhorrent distaste.
The main course was 1/2 price off, which was a pleasant surprise. Of the 4 of us - my sister got the filet and that was truly delicious. However the rest of our meals were subpar.
I wouldn’t return here.
Aurum was top notch from beginning to end. The brussel sprouts are the best I’ve ever tasted. The steak perfectly melted in your mouth. And the wine list was wonderful. Just a fantastic experience. I’ll definitely be back!
The atmosphere was wonderful and our dinner was outstanding. As usual the service was great. This is our favorite restaurant anywhere.
