We almost always bring our guests here for dinner and go ourselves about once a month. We had a great waiter but dang the service was incredibly slow, we ended up getting seated upstairs which we never like because the noise rises and we can’t have a conversation without shouting. Food always good but not great this time. Made reservations about two weeks in advance. Come on Aurum you can do better than this! It took two hours for meal service, had drinks in bar beforehand.
A week in Steamboat and lots of restaurants. So glad we saved this one for our last night. Everything was fabulous!!
30th bd for our son
Aurum is one of our favorite places and it never fails. Went friends who had never been there and of course they loved it.
Very nice place along the river. Cute bar area. In dining was very nice. Kind of loud though so hard to hear company down table. Drinks delicious. Food very good. Happy hour great deal.
Amazing dinner. Everything was prepared beautifully and tasted great. We had the foie gras and cauliflower to start. Trout, salmon and buffalo steak for dinner.
We are here often and love it. 1 of the 4 meals was off and the restaurant quickly recognized the problem and really took care of the issue! The 3 other meals were excellent.
Unfortunately I am unable to recommend Aurum. I decided to try it based on other reviews. Both courses of our meal were, bland. Our Foie Gras was meh, not much taste, which you would not expect for such a rich food. My husband ordered Waygu and I ordered Duck. Once again rich cuts of meat you would expect to be bursting with flavor, but not so. We have dined at many upscale restaurants around the country ordered the same type of meals and never been this disappointed. All this and a couple of drinks plus tip cost close to $200. For us Aurum would not be worth a return trip. I guess the one positive was our waiter Lee.
Awesome place. We were there for happy hour and the food was great. Might like to try dinner sometime, but I’m always skeptical of the resort prices and value, coming from a town with many Michelin Star restaurants.
Amazing from start to finish
Second time here.... overall very good... food, service all great, but prices really are a bit high.
We visit Aurum quite often...always a treat Phil, Fredand Head chef Patrick always make us feel at home. Waiters and waitresses cordial, attentive and helpful!
Our “go to” restaurant in Steamboat.!!!!!
We were seated an hour later than our reservations. Smallish menu. Once we were seated the service was good. But, it was more fun in the bar with live music. They did take a significant amount off of the bill, which was nice.
Few to no items on the menu a heart patient could eat. Food so so.
Aurum was outstanding! Wonderful meal (lamb shank elk chop) were prepared beautifully. A bit loud but couldn't be helped - as there were large tables enjoying themselves (so it was ok).
We have been going to Aurum every year for our anniversary for the last few years. We are always treated very well, the view of the river is gorgeous, and the food is fantastic!
So good! They treated us like royalty and the food was amazing! Highly recommend this amazing restaurant!
Fabulous dinner once again. Great way to end an amazing week in Steamboat!
Seated promptly at reserved time. Service was pretty decent. Mixed drinks a little less than average quality at $12. Crab cakes appetizer $18 (small plate) was delicious! Salad was good. Wagyu beef entrée $65 was delicious and cooked properly. Sea Bass entrée $39 was not impressive. Flavor combination of the fish wasn’t desirable and really didn’t pair well with the accompanying black beans.
The Elk Chop and Scottish Salmon was excellent
While the food continues to be top notch service is showing signs of slipping. On a not busy Monday it took a half hour for a waiter to even visit our table and thinly after we asked the front of house to point out our waiter. Not even an apology.
I will attribute this to one bad night. Steaks are always perfectly prepared and the fish is always nicely prepared with interior spices.
Hopefully better luck next time.
Outstanding food, charming service. On the expensive side, but we didn’t regret the splurge.
Best foie gras and sourdough bread I have had in a long time. My favorite dinner restaurant in steamboat. I go every time I am in town. Try the Brussels sprouts, even if you don’t think you like them. You could change your mind—my friend did! Thanks for another great dining experience! Can’t wait to come back in the summer and eat out on the patio.
Wonderful meal. The wine selection is good, but the price break on bottles was amazing. Great cocktails with a true full bar. The food was excellent. The filet was cooked to the perfect temperature. It would be an awesome dining room if the sun was still up or in the summer months. We will definitely be back.
Food, service and the ambiance are all superb. We go every year we are back in Steamboat and will continue to do so.
We loved the live music they had next to the bar. Kind of unplugged 90s music with a super chill vibe.
The food was really good, my lamb shank was perfectly cooked. I’d definitely come back next year when in town again.
The scallop in white bean soup was mouth watering. (I forgot the actual name of the dish)
great location on the yampa river. best brussel sprouts in the world
I ordered the special, medium rare. I cut the meat in half, it had been browned on the outside, but was raw inside so I sent it back. Ten minutes later I received the same piece of meat, which was now tough and dry and lacking the seasoning that was supposed to coat the meat. Meanwhile, my wife’s meal was cold. I had hoped for a new entre, not my original piece of meat recooked. Will not return.
Four of us dined on a Friday night, two new to Aurum. Our reservation was honored immediately. We had green salads, the wedge salad and soup du jour - a curried cauliflower soup. Presentations were all lovely! Entrees included my husband's "best ever" duck; I had very tasty cod tacos as a small plate. Our friends had the elk chop that he would highly recommend and lamb chops. We shared cherry cobbler and blueberry bread pudding. Service was very good and everyone was pleased. Look forward to returning!
Dined here for birthday/Valentine's Day celebration. The bread was the best item we were served. The appetizer was so sticky I couldn't get it off my hands and the rib meat was tough and hard. The salads were "a wedge salad", not even close to a wedge, just butter lettuce fanned out from a center root. Just an okay salad, nothing great. The entree for me was a small plate scallop dish. ONE scallop swimming in a brown liquid with beans that were hard and not cooked completely, it was very poorly executed and tasted horrible. My spouse ordered the spicy lamb chop special. It was not very spicy and not particularly good. The cous cous it was served with was not tasty and he only took one bite and didn't touch the rest. Finally, we thought that dessert might help, we were wrong. It was a blackberry or blueberry bread pudding. So very dry! If not for the ice cream on top it would have been inedible. Not going back. A shame since the ambiance and setting is lovely.
My mom and I go to Aurum every year when we visit steamboat! It is a favorite for sure
We had a great meal!
THe service was bad. Once seated it was more than 15 minutes before we were greeted. It took more than 30min after seating to get a drink. THe waitress was unattentive and sadly our experience was POOR overall.
Great location and atmosphere with quality food.
Enjoyed a great meal at Aurum with a group of 7 friends while skiing at Steamboat. The Maitre D' was very patient as we tried to heard the group from pre-dinner drink at the bar to the table. Service was excellent during diner and the appetizers and entree's were all excellent. Highly recommend the brussels sprouts appetizer and the striploin and grilled elkchop entrees. Would definitely return if in Steamboat again in the future.
Our waitress Chloe was amazing! The food is always superb. We were with my father in law that was in a wheelchair and thr staff was great getting him settled and getting us a table by the window!
Our server, Patrick, was wonderful. Always good to see our Maitre’d, Fred. Our favorite place to commemorate a wonderful week in Steamboat. Many thanks.
Everything was awesome. I had specifically asked Not to be seated by the open space by the door because of the draft (we had been left a message regarding this but it was not fully delivered) yet we were placed directly in front of the open space! Luckily this evening it was nice and warm in Arum. Everyone’s food was perfect, except for my husbands “ special” which was the skirt steak. He said it was tough and boring. We hope it won’t happen again, but probably won’t return for such an expensive meal again. Since we are locals we will stick to the happy hour and their delicious apps !!
The service was terrific! Ambiance was very unique: large open bar area, outside seating including firepit area, located directly on a small stream. One of the top 10 restaurants in Steamboat for sure.
