New year's eve dinner at Aura was fantastic. Classic French fare was delicious, beautifully presented and filling. The service was impeccable. The wine list was varied and reasonably priced. The atmosphere was classy yet a tad noisy.
We will definitely be back.
Sadly, Aura closed on January 1, 2017. We were very happy to have been a part of their last evening's New Year's Eve dinner. Always delicious food and a lovely ambience. We'll miss Aura!
Aura has one of the finest chefs around. The professionalism of his staff reflect his attention to detail. The food is exquisite!
Love Aura! A shame it will go away soon, we will miss it. Glad we got in before they are sold.
Aura Brassiere offers consistently good food and excellent service. We had not been back for nearly one year, but they've made a step change improvement in decor and sound management. The menu is diverse and the service staff is attentive without being obtrusive. An excellent value for a night out on town or a special occasion.
It was a overall a good experience since my family really seemed to enjoy it! Not the best French meal I've had but it wasn't bad. The pumpkin soup wasn't anything special. The family liked the oysters. Brussels sprouts were good but a pretty small portion. Crab beignets were good. My brother said the pecan crusted chicken was good, my dad loved the crab stuffed founder, and the sea bass was good but seemed lukewarm when I got it. The mac and cheese was super delicious!
Do not care for the new wall around the dining area. Won't be back.
Efficient web booking system.
Pleasant environment and good food.
Aura is always a great choice for a very good meal at a reasonable price. They have a very good menu that is complemented by creative and tasty special dishes.
Have dined there regularly. Very good food and service. However, the 'renovation' has RUINED the experience. Have tried it twice since the change. Will not eat at a place that looks like a cheaply furnished coffee shop. Hostess' outfit looked like workout clothes. Those expecting the old layout on the website are in for a rude surprise.
Excellent wine collection. This was our favorite restaurant when we lived in Houston. Steak is amazing!
A bug fly around our table for entering dinner time
Fantastic French Restaurant in Sugarland. Highly recommended.
The staff, food and ambience are wonderful at this restaurant!
I don't see how anyone thinks this place is quiet. Tile floors are awful for restaurants. There was a table of 8 cackly ladies up front we heard throughout our entire meal, and there was another mixed party of 8 that we almost got seated right next to. And the place was otherwise empty. HUH? We had to ask to be seated away from the party. Unfortunately there was no getting away from the noise.
The food was good. It was tasty and cooked well. I've had better Lemon Drops elsewhere, but the Cosmo was decent. My hubby had 2 nice glasses of wine.
We may go back, but there are plenty of other choices for nice dinners in the area.
Aura has recently reconfigured their room to try and make it more formal on one side, and casual on the other. The new design is a miss. It is now boxy , and the couple of the front tables, as you enter the restaurant look like cafeteria seating. Too bad, as the food is always excellent, and the service is always good.
I came here with my mother and my aunts for Houston Restaurant Week. Overall the experience was mediocre.
First, the service. The host was kind and friendly, but inexperienced - he had to ask what the soup of the day was. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt; perhaps it was his first day. On the other hand, our server was more experienced but could use a lot of work on his customer service. The restaurant wasn't terribly busy at the time as it was past the lunch rush, but he seemed to be in a big hurry to get away from our table.
Then, the food. The four of us ordered a variety of dishes off the HRW menu and almost all of them were good. I especially enjoyed the duck pâté appetizer, and both my mom and aunt loved the lemon sole amandine. Desserts were a hit all around - pecan pie, crème brûlée and chocolate cake. My main course was the faux filet au poivre, which unfortunately did not meet my expectations. I asked for my steak to be cooked between medium rare and rare, and it came out medium. The steak itself was tough and fatty, and I ended up leaving a large portion on the plate. Its only saving grace was the sauce au poivre, which was excellent.
This was a return trip because the last visit was so great a few weeks ago. This time the meal was shared with another person. Still doing HRW menu although you can get a really good deal on the businessman's special. I had the pate and my date the calamari appetizer. The steak was excellent with wonderful sauce. She ordered the duck crepes. Both really good. They were pretty busy and I had to ask for bread. Not quite as attentive as the first time. But still all in all excellent service. The desserts were great!
Fantastic meal.Houston restaurant menu, really delicious!
Houston restaurant week menu was nice but the carpaccio was dry as if it was precut and already sitting in the fridge for a few hours. We were the last table In the restaurant and we thought the staff forgot about us. Maybe they were letting us read and have quiet time but we waited a good 10-15 minutes after other patrons already left before we got the check. It was nice to try this place out but nothing wowed me to come back.
Aura is a nice find in the Sugar Land area. We enjoyed a quiet table, a very good bottle of wine and the options offered for the Houston Restaurant Week. The service is always attentive but unobtrusive, and the new seating arrangement allows both couples and larger parties to dine comfortably. This evening there were a couple of large parties and a few couples.
The fix-pries menu offered some interesting options. An appetizer course, main, and dessert. The wife opted for the cold smoked salmon salad for the first course. I had the foie gras creme bruele, which proved to be a good choice.
The wife had the gorganzola fillet with mashed potatoes and asparagus, and I had the pork mignon wellington with the porcinni sauce and seasonal vegetables. The only challenge is that the wife likes things medium well to well done which periodically causes a service issue. If the plates come out together, I run the risk of having my hot meal cooling off before it reaches me. Unfortunately that happened again. The pork tenderloin inside the wellington crust had cooled off too much. I don't normally send things back but this needed some heat. It did not take too long for the dish to come back at a much more desirable temperature. Both entrees were very good - order again decisions.
The dessert decisions were a chocolate mouse cake and a creme bruele san foie gras. A nice way to cap off the evening.
This was a great place for a date night with my husband. We really enjoyed the meal, the escargot was amazing, and the atmosphere was perfect for date night. We will absolutely be going back there to try different things off of their menu.
They have added a musician who is good but loud enough that you cannot hear people at your table.
It is a family owned restaurant. I've been there several times. They consistently provide great food and service. We went there to celebrate our daughter engagement. Different from previous times the service wasn't professional. Hope next time it will be better.
Excellent from start to finish. You feel like you are really special. I tried the HRW menu with pate and duck crepes with chocolate mousse cake. Wow! The pate was amazing served with French bread. The duck crepes were plentiful with a nice sauce and sautéed vegetables. The desert I only sampled but it was amazing too! They also have a business mans lunch special that sounds great!
Fish dishes are always perfectly cooked!
Great food. Def found a new gem. We will be back!
I took my girlfriend out for a romantic evening and the team at Aura were just the best.
Our last date night had actually ended at Aura and the manager and bartenders made us feel so special then that I knew they'd be perfect accomplices for a little romantic surprise. They were totally happy to play along and made sure our evening was just the best. I love this place and it's now my favorite spot at Town Centre!
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary by trying a "new" restaurant, one we had not tried before. Aura was definitely the right place! The food was outstanding! Could not have asked for better. Just don't forget to save room for creme brûlée and the profiteroles!!
The place filled up quickly and service slowed somewhat, but overall we loved our experience and will definitely be back.
In the area so stopped in for a Saturday lunch. Rainy day. Light crowd...booked but wasn't necessary. Great service. Interesting france-inspired lunch menu. Flounder sandwich delicious, although get the almost-too-spicy sauce on the side. Loved the small portion of profiteroles for sharing with the wife. Highly recommend.
Aura is great little restaurant. It has great food and a fantastic wine list all at very reasonable prices. Tony, our server, was great at explaining what a few of the menu items actually were and he was very attentive.
Consistently good with terrific, attentive service! The personal attention to food & service always has us coming back! Alexandria is delightful, and Michelle is the definition of "classy!" Great steak, Pierre!
We tried the escargot, the crab beignets, the duck confit, the crab and flounder dish, and the dark chocolate bread pudding. Wait staff was overworked with large birthday party, so service was very slow for other tables. Drinks came out extremely slow and varied in quality depending on who made them (the male bartender's drinks were mixed more accurately for old fashioneds we ordered). The escargot was innovative with little croutons, and great flavor. Crab beignet filling was delicious, a bit bready but the remoulade style sauce was amazing. Duck confit dish was standard, duck a tad dry. The flounder and crab dish- same crab filling as the beignets, and an odd accompaniment of mounds of mashed potatoes which we could have done without. The bok choy and asparagus were cooked well and flavorful. Chocolate bread pudding not too sweet, a nice finish to the meal. Will try again at some point.
Never disappointed at Aura. Food is unique and service is nop-notch.
We got the lunch special of the soup, entree, and dessert. We thought the crab cakes entree was delicious and enjoyed the sweet dessert of crepes and profiteroles.
It was a pretty reasonable portion for lunch and at an affordable price! We loved the new location of it at Sugar Land Town Center. The service was excellent, and it was quiet & intimate to have a private conversation.
Fantastic restaurant. Big city meals at suburban prices.
Enjoyed Aura again this past weekend. The special asparagus soup was a nice start, and the New York Strip steak special was delicious and cooked perfectly. My wife had the wedge salad to start and then split the steak frites with her friend. Or niece enjoyed the beef spareribs and her husband had the salmon, which was cooked perfectly and looked and smelled delicious. The service was excellent, the atmosphere slightly noisy but within reason, and altogether we had a great time. Considering I can walk there from my condo Aura can't be beat. I should mention that we split a surprisingly good Bordeaux.
We have had many great meals at Aura in the past, but the Red Fish special last Wednesday, turned out to be one of the best meals we have ever had there. The chef continues to surprise us. We will be back soon.
