Our waiter was extremely rude, unprofessional, and not attentive. He clearly does not understand what customer service is. It’s a shame because my family lives in the neighborhood and we have been here several times and have had only good experiences and have really enjoyed the food, but this time truly left a bad taste in my mouth. On our way out the waiter was talking about us to another customer. Unacceptable.
Service was acceptable, but upon learning 2 of our party are celiac the restaurant certainly did not try to accommodate diet. Server was a. It surly in the topic.
Spicy margarita tasted like the warm swampy booze stolen from a parent’s liquor cabinet.
No real taste - a lot of booze though
Steak frites was so fatty I couldn’t eat it and demanded my meal be comped. $39 for a terrible cut of meat.
Everyone else had good food - the ahi tuna was the only dish I’d consider up to nyc standards.
Great food with a fun and casual vibe.
Sat on the back banquets and they were roomy and not too close together.
Service was great, food delicious and the price fair for NYC!
Don’t even try to eat there when the front windows are open.....absolutely no air in the restaurant. Too hot to enjoy the otherwise delicious food.
Great food and service.
Good experience. Just would have preferred more options for entrees
The restaurant was only half full and it still took an hour for us to receive our food. I had to ask multiple times for water -- and it was hot outside! I suggest you improve your service.
Wonderful food in a very nice place. Thank you!
Wait staff was very good, attentive and cordial. Cocktails were fine! Food was only good, the cornbread was excellent but I had the steak frites and there was too much fat on my piece of meat, appropriately half the piece was fat. That is my major complaint.
I love August. It is the ideal lunch spot. My first choice on the UES
We've been a frequent goer since it moved from the Bleeker Street location back in 2014. It is consistently wonderful food and service. We really enjoy that the menu rotates, but keeps the perennial favorites. And we especially enjoy introducing August to our friends.
I don’t know why a table of four was seated at two small round tables in the front of the restaurant. It was very crowded.
Too loud & a bit overpriced
It’s a lovely neighborhood restaurant for me . I hope to continue enjoying my visits there !
Ambiance was great but the plates were far too small for the price. Tuna on rice is a good example of that. It's really more of an appetizer. Good vibe to the place though.
The meal was one of the best I have had. Service was great. Do not miss out on this gem when visiting NYC!
Very pleasant restaurant. A bit noisy. Food was very tasty but nothing spectacular. Certainly worth another visit.
Service was very slow the night we were there. We were a party of 7 and it took over 21/2 hours to eat which we had not counted on. The food was good but very slow and we poured our own wine and water.
Wonderful midtown spot where there are not many decent options. Food was delicious for a meal shared with friends or on business.
Made a reservation for 930, the bartender just stared at us.... and when I asked if I should seat myself, he replied rudely that they were closed! When I told him that we had a reservation, he told me that that was my problem. Unfortunately we will not be going back! I will also be sure tell everyone this story!
A diamond in the rough! A truly wonderful restaurant. Outstanding chef, the food is always excellent!
Was a special night for us hosting our nephew graduating Sunday from Columbia with his parents. Unfortunately your kitchen forgot to prepare one of the orders. How do you do that? Also, there was a diner near the bar who sounded like he was having a baby for 2 hours and was completely disruptive to the rest of us. Needless to say, we will find other options for now on.
I had been to August when it was in the village and loved it. And the new August is just as good. We had brunch on Mother's Day and they couldn't have been nicer. I would definitely go back again.
Mother’s day celebration
August is a great place for lunch. They have a delicious menu, plus a prix fixe menu. A good place to meet in midtown. I highly recommend August!
Drinks were great! Wait staff were wonderful, food was a bit oily.
My husbands food was much better than mine. Mine was almost inedible- the steak was mostly all fat. His tuna was very good. The service was exceptionally good.
Great as always!
The location, setting and food was great for a casual date, however, we were seated at the kitchen entrance and the noise was obnoxious and we could’ve seen in the kitchen also, the AC was super cool. Majority of the people in the restaurant had their jackets or coats on. They should have lowered the ac since it was a windy-chilly day in New York. Overall, the food and service was great which made up for the hinderance. Would definitely recommend.
The chicken in the Chicken paillard was tough and chewy. There were too many onions. Overall not enjoyable. The Sancerre rose however was delicious.
The Mexican waiter was amazing and the food it was good 😘
Love the chicken and veggies. Always crispy . Great service ... friendly attitude.
An excellent choice for lunch in busy midtown/lower upper east side....nice variety, pleasant atmosphere.
Very pretty restaurant. I thought the menu was limited, the appetizers better than the entrees.
Good drinks and wine. Service a bit slow. Not too noisy - I like that a lot - but then it wasn't full either. A bit pricey.
Great place for lunch. Everything was delicious but it is just a bit too noisy.
Waited 20 min for drink order to be taken. Understaffed. Uneven. Eaten here4-5 times past 2 years and never gets better, more professional. Food good, well presented though small portions for price. Ambiance good ( decor) but too noisy. Service always a disappointment.
Great food, nice place to meet. Will eat here again!
Wonderful service, excellent food- a great date night or special occasion!
Very nice bruch!
My steak frites was thin, full of fat, cut into pieces, and the frites were over salted to a point that I considered sending them back. The meat was of poor quality for a NYC restaurant and more what you would expect from a coffee shop. For almost $40 it was terribly overpriced. Although I was looking forward to trying August, it was more than disappointing. The one highlight was my Aperol Spritz which was one of the best I had in NYC...so I would only recommend the bar, not the food.
