August Restaurant
Delicious lunch menu. This restaurant has maintained its quality after its move from Bleecker Street a few years ago. I wish it had opened even earlier for outdoor dining.
Best staff, best food on the Upper East Side.
MY FAVORITE UES RESTAURANT. AMAZING FOOD, AMAZING SERVICE
Maitre D was excellent in trying to provide heating when the heat lamps continually flipped off the circuit breaker. With no heat It was chilly and uncomfortable eating. Hope they work it out as it will be necessary to provide consistent heat when eating outside ad as the season gets colder.
The gentleman host was also apologetic and sincerely cared as he witnessed how cold we were. Once patron left the other moved her seat.
I had tomato soup although delicious the portion was minuscule.
Overall difficult times however I, personally, like to feel the food value is equitably priced in line with the portion.
We waited almost 50 min for our food which consisted of an omelette and a tomato soup. The restaurant was almost empty and no once came to check on us. So a little frustrating given the prices...
We had a great dinner. The staff was very accommodating.
When the traffic on Lexington Avenue is moderate, August is a lovely shelter.
August . . . a great restaurant for every month of the year! I usually stop by late afternoons on weekends for brunch and love their creative take on the usual brunch fare. Recently, I had dinner inside (finally, and as a bonus, I was the only customer dining inside). The filet mignon was incredibly tender, juicy, delicious, and well portioned. The accompanying steak sauce was yummy with my fries. The filet certainly did not need any added flavor, as it was grilled a perfect medium rare. The waitstaff was, as always, lovely, professional, and helpful with wine selections. August is a great spot for dining solo, with friends, or on a special occasion. Love it!
My guest and I both ordered salads, Caesar for her and Cobb for me. Per our request, they chopped the salads. Both were delicious and huge. Very good value. Service was fine, if a little irregular. They created a very cozy Covid-19-compliant outdoor space, which felt private and safe even though it was right on Lexington Avenue! The location is great and I would certainly return.
Think August has done an excellent job of providing an outdoor dining experience which is very creative and extremely enjoyable, as we all continue to navigate through this very surreal time. The food and service were excellent, and they are to be commended for their efforts. We look forward to returning in the very near future for another enjoyable dining experience. KUDOS all around.

While most of the food was good, the short ribs were awful. The fattiest I have ever had. Waitress was also not too friendly.
Our experience at August was amazing. We shared the vegetable platter and scallops, with a side of corn bread, and all were exceptional, well worth the money. The service and ambience were great, as always, so we couldn't have asked for a better meal.
Loved the atmosphere and food. Servers were attentive and checked on us regularly. The burger was really good as well as the Tuna appetizer.
A great place for lunch. I love the menu, it's diverse and there is something for everyone.
I loved this restaurant. But it has a fatal flaw—the noise level. By around 8-ish, I couldn’t hear myself think, let lone hear what my my dining companion was saying.
Food wise, everything was amazing. Cornbread, tomato soup, with toast laden with gruyere cheese, scallops, crab cakes, all beautifully cooked and worth returning for. I’m sorry I couldn’t try the entire menu. Everything looked delicious, and probably was.
But the exposed brick decor, seemingly cozy, magnified the noise, creating an absolute din. I would consider going back at a very early or very late hour when it might be quieter, but the noise level at dinner time was truly off-putting and a deal-breaker. It would be hard to have a celebration or meet friends in the evening if I actually wanted to hear what anyone had to say.
Great food and despite no high chairs or changing tables - VERY accommodating and considerate of our party which included 3 kids under 2.
We love August. Right down the street from our office I sent my executives there often for client lunches.
Thank you!
Inflated prices, tiny portions, and very mediocre in taste/quality. Sole meunière was drowned in butter (it literally tasted like movie theater popcorn), and killed my stomach. Service was slow, and unimpressive. Would not recommend, nor will we be returning.
We’re there for Valentines Day and everything was perfect!!!! Looking forward to another visit hopefully in 2020
Always good
Service could be slow at times and the decibel level was high (no more than as at all other places these days, it seems). Overall a great place with great food, surprised they had as many reservations available as they did when we booked - this place should be booked out all the time!
The drinks were excellent, but the food was not good. The shrimp appetizer was fishy and my main course I didnt even eat, extremely oily and short ribs were dry and 2 big blocks of meat. The dessert was good though.
Ambience, decor, service, food and drink..all pretty, good and satisfying. All you can ask from a wonderful neighborhood restaurant. (Wish to noise level could be toned down just a little!)
The tomato soup is to die for!! I can't resist ordering it every time I'm at August. Had the pasta with clams which was very good but could have used a few more clams.
The restaurant can get very loud. how about some insulation??
Ahi tuna is not to be missed!
The food was good but the noise & service were distracting elements.
The menu said sauteed sole sandwich and it came fried. When questioned the waiter said the menu was wrong! A little odd and a big mistake. Someone who orders sauteed usually wont eat fried but my husband is more easygoing and just ate it
It was a wonderful evening out and not too loud in the restaurant. Great music, delicious food, good ambience. Will definitely go again! Server was very kind and observant!
Have had dinner at August on numerous occasions and the food is always quite good. Love the atmosphere. Try the corn bread, the burger and any of their cocktails. The staff is always very friendly.
Delicious... not much to say other than good above the cut daily fairly sophisticated fare...
August is a great pick for those who enjoy a quieter restaurant. There is no loud music playing, the food is excellent, but the service can feel a little slow at times. Overall great pick for those picky about noise and not willing to sacrifice on quality of food.
Incredible food and staff and would absolutely go back again.
A busy spot. A bit too noisy for my tastes, but the food was fine and service was good.
Great bartender!!
I would recommend August to a friend looking for good food in a pretty setting so long as that friend was not in a rush since the service can be slow.
The service was terrible/unattentive, which makes the overall experience and value disappointing at best. I will not go back.
First time eating there, an overall great little neighborhood place when you’re looking for food you just want to eat. Nothing too fancy but not too casual either, just right, really great little spot. Food was excellent, presentations were thoughtful and service was spot-on. Will definitely be put into my monthly restaurant rotation.
My new favorite restaurant! Wanted to taste everything on the menu - everything I did taste was amazing. I’ve had Ahi tuna on crispy rice at many different places. This was far and away the best!
Food was outstanding
We will be back!
