A busy spot. A bit too noisy for my tastes, but the food was fine and service was good.
I would recommend August to a friend looking for good food in a pretty setting so long as that friend was not in a rush since the service can be slow.
The service was terrible/unattentive, which makes the overall experience and value disappointing at best. I will not go back.
First time eating there, an overall great little neighborhood place when you’re looking for food you just want to eat. Nothing too fancy but not too casual either, just right, really great little spot. Food was excellent, presentations were thoughtful and service was spot-on. Will definitely be put into my monthly restaurant rotation.
My new favorite restaurant! Wanted to taste everything on the menu - everything I did taste was amazing. I’ve had Ahi tuna on crispy rice at many different places. This was far and away the best!
Food was outstanding
We will be back!
Not the same dining experience, menu or food as the Village days. And this location is exceptionally noisy, not a soft surface in the place. I can't say I would encourage anyone to dine there unless the location was just what they needed, which was our case.
We were there at open! Beautiful restaurant! If you need to stay inside a 1 hr lunch hour it is doable- jut let your server know! LOVED the food. Prefixed menus was great food for a great value!
Seating was quick, service was excellent, waitress was super nice and pleasant, good was really good, reasonably priced for location
Love this restaurant, interesting food combinations and small plates if one wants to nibble and a cozy neighborhood vibe. The charred tomato soup is amazing and the new shrimp appetizer is delicious. Unfortunately their wine selection is a bit pricey, didn't see any bottles of white under $55.
Not enough wait staff.
Food was mediocre. Service was unfriendly and rushed. So noisy I couldn’t hear the person across the table. Wouldn’t go back.
The single-worst "homemade granola" ever. I even asked if it was made on site, and I assume they lied when they replied "yes". All of us at the table agreed it tasted and looked like a Nature Valley granola bar, broken into pieces. Not a single dried fruit or nut or anything to indicate it didn't come from a wrapper. Too bad that they couldn't be honest bc the lie and bad granola overshadowed all the other food. They could have just said "assembled by Nature Valley, disassembled in our kitchen" or "nope, we're out of granola today". I know countless places with actual and tasty granola.
Additionally, over numerous visits, the erratic service at August makes them appear chronically short-staffed .
And there has been no attempt made at acoustic control in their restaurant design.
FYI, there is no accommodation for gluten-free.
Charming neighborhood spot on UES near Bloomingdales. Good food. Solid service.
The food was good but the service was not.
August is a wonderful neighborhood place. Staff is friendly and food is consistently good. Nothing memorable but tasty and satisfying. You will never be disappointed.
Food was delicious! I had the mushroom and gruyere omelette and it was outstanding. My friend had the cobb salad, which she thoroughly enjoyed.
Neat restaurant with good menu. Something for everyone.
Good service and pretty ambiance.
Better value for money if you get "real" food. Avocado toast is pricey for what it is.
Tuna on crisped rice is delicious but you may still feel hungry.
Good to share as starter.
Good food. Service, not so much. Awkward table in the front.
Very delicious food. Nice atmosphere. Friendly staff and good service
Overpriced Cobb salad with processed turkey (lunch.) Stale, bitter coffee. No bread unless ordered and of course paid for. Very noisy. An attentive waitress was the only positive note. Otherwise a ripoff. Stay away.
Yummy yummy simple food delicious and well priced! Great meal
And good cocktails!
A nice, relaxed atmosphere in the midst of a busy midtown neighborhood. The decor is casually elegant and on the romantic side. The menu is limited but serves up good, up-scale versions of comfort foods. The server was friendly but service overall was slow, which would be my only criticism. If you need a quick mid-town lunch, this is probably not the best option but if you have time to linger, I recommend it.
The only bad thing was the air was blowing full force and it was freezing. They shut it off for a little and was great but then it went on again. So the whole table was uncomfortable most of the dinner. It would be helpful to fix that issue.
This was a disappointing brunch meal. We live nearby, but have never gone to August and won’t again. The chicken Niçoise salad was mostly lettuce with tiny squares of what looked like pink chicken and the other things were hardly there. My husbands eggs Benedict was mostly salty potatoes on most of the plate and the eggs were on burned English muffin and looked like a pile of mess. The high noise level might have been worse due to the lower than normal restaurant level ceilings.
Food was very good and place is pretty service was really slow. They only had one person serving
The food and the service was impeccable. However, the noise volume was deafening.
Food and service consistently good
I liked this restaurant when it first opened but had not been there for a while. While I think in theory the menu is great, the food was not as good as I remembered. The baby eggplant parmigiana was not at all good. I had been looking forward to that. Too much tomato sauce, not enough cheese and eggplant very hard. - kind of like bread.
The food was fresh and delicious. Loved the portion sizes and freshness of the ingredients. Had a watermelon/tomatoes salad, gruyere/mushroom omelette and the hash browns. Great, friendly service.
From the time we arrived to the time we left we were treated so well I can not wait to return. My friend had fish and I had the beef, we started with the fried zucchini which shared. We each had a drink. When we finished eating we were both stuffed.
The food was pretty mediocre and the service was completely indifferent. We could not get our waiter's attention and when we did he was pretty checked out. The noise level was high. Wouldn't go back.
Always my go to in this neighborhood for consistently good food service and ambience.
My short rib was so fatty (and not good fat, just plain fat pieces) that I could not eat it. But service was good and the appetizers were delicious. Nice ambiance.
The food was good and the service was very good too. I would definitely recommend it to a friend.
Food was ok
We have been going to August a few times a month for the past 3 years. First time the food and waitress service was well below par bordering on terrible. The bartender was great and so were the drinks.
We’ll give it one more shot. If it’s bad again, we’ll just sit at the bar and have drinks, but no food.
Great dining experience - loved the ambiance, food and location.
Love meeting my friends for lunch
Love the food
Good selection to chose from and always delicious
Great location near all the subways
