The reservation included a nice bouquet of flowers for my date that were ready at our table. Hostess then ask us if we would like to move to a quieter corner table that had a little more room, which we obliged. My date had the beef stroganoff and I had the seafood bouillabaisse. Both were excellently prepared. Great environment, prompt and professional staff, and an awesome kitchen.
Love this place. I have never had a bad meal here. Never rushed, always relaxed fine dining. Menu is versatile and unique, always changing with the seasons to reflect local ingredients. If you have my tried it, I highly recommend the Signature Crispy Goat Cheese Salad. Yummo! Making me hungry!!!
Disappointed in the food and the menu. I had previously been to Augie’s for special occasions due to the unique menu and delicious food. The grouper was the best and no longer on the menu. The entree I ordered was very salty and the dessert didn’t appear to be cooked completely. Expensive meal not worth the price.
I had the steak special. The steak was cooked perfect. The steak had an excellent taste to it. The waiter checked on us to see if we needed anything however, he did not make a pest of himself. You must try the feta salad I think it was called. It was very unique with a breaded and then fried disk of feta. The dressing was very good. I usually have my dressing on the side, however I forgot to mention it. I felt it had a little bit too much dressing for me. It was very tasty and light. Very good.
Always my first choice for fine dining in Springfield. Worked for Augie for several years so know pretty much all there is to know about the operation and everything is always right. The best, freshest ingredients prepared and served with skill and care. I have no reason to believe this will ever change.
Our dinner on New Year's Eve was great--so glad you were open on that Sunday. The place was hopping, but not noisy or hectic (at least for the customers). The staff members were all helping each other out, making for a very good experience for diners. The giant balloons were beautiful!
We enjoyed a great family meal here while visiting Springfield. The Brussels sprouts appetizer was fantastic as was my roast chicken. The service was prompt but not too invasive. Ages 13 - 75 were very pleased with their meals. The environment is warm and friendly. Cocktails were great. Highly recommend.
Not knowing what to expect, walking in I felt that old school steakhouse vibe. Christmas decorations up and music playing which was nice but overall ambience was lacking. The service was good. Servers were knowledgeable and verbiage was upscale. Menu was small but very creative. I had the salmon and definitely would order that again. Thanks for the experience!
Once again we brought friends to Augies and we all enjoyed the evening. The ladies appreciated the smaller portions available with the Thrifty Thursday options. And the guys can still order from the regular menu. The food is outstanding with many dishes very comparable to upscale dining in Chicago or St. Louis. And Gabe gave us great service, answering menu questions and keeping things running smoothly. We’ll be back.
I had two issues with my last visit. We made our reservations for an outside table. When we got to our table two of the chairs were visibly broken, the seats were unraveled. The issues were very apparent and I would find it hard to believe that someone did not notice when the table was set up. We then asked the hostess if we could move to the table in front which had newer chairs. We were a party of eight and the other table was set for six, however it was the same size table. We would simply have to pull two chairs up to the ends to make it work. The hostess told us we could not because all the tables were reserved, did not understand her reasoning because no one else was there so she could of let us move while she fixed the chairs before the next people arrived but she would not allow it. Then a party of six approached us and asked if the tables were free, we told them they could ask inside but we were told all the tables were reserved. We were very surprised when the hostess came back out and seated them at the table we had asked to move to. I asked the hostess how they got the table when they were all reserved, first she told me they had a reservation. When I told her they had already stated they did not have a reservation she said "We are just really busy." I am not sure how that justifies her lying to us. Our waitress was great and we enjoyed the food, our only problem was the broken chairs and hostess.

Service was outstanding and honest. Lobster bisque needs some work. Salads were incredible!.
My entree fish was overcooked while my friend's steak was cooked correctly. Overpriced fish dish for what I received.
We had a reservation and arrived on time.
They proceeded past 3-4 empty two tops and wanted to seat us at a two top stuck by itself in front of the kitchen door. When I asked to be seated at one of the other tables I was told that they were reserved and we could sit at the bar or outside. So we left and went down the street.
They seated us at a table next to the swinging doors of the kitchen. Constant traffic in and out for the entire time. The doors open directly to the dining area, so ours was not the only table affected by the racket.
I was served a glass of Zinfandel that was from an old bottle and it tasted terrible; as a result, I sent it back.
Our food and service were good. The ambiance was poor. I would suggest building a wall in front of the swinging doors to reduce the sound from the kitchen and hiring an architect/interior designer to improve the 1978-looking interior.
A friend recommended Augie's and we were excited to go. When we arrived we were given menus and a list of specials. We picked one of the specials and only then were we informed that the specials were for the following week. That was a little annoying. Then the dish we ordered came and was extremely salty.
