Auberge du Soleil Ratings and Reviews
I had high expectations of this restaurant and while it was good, it fell a bit flat for me. First of all, the view is lovely and it's a nice place to eat. The bread is excellent as were our apps and mains. The dessert was a bit of a joke...the choices were fair and the one we chose was some sort of deconstructed dish with barely three bites on it. Overall though, it was the service that disappointed us. After bringing us water, our waiter didn't return until we flagged someone else down to go get him. He was clearly around though...he just didn't both to check on us or even take our drink order. From then on, he came around occasionally, but it was mostly a different waiter who picked up his slack and made sure that we had what we needed. So, A+ for the second guy, but he should never have had to cover for our waiter. We were not impressed and would probably not go back.
This is a special destination in the Napa Valley; the views are outstanding! They have a Michelin Star and we think they deserve it. The food is excellent and is presented beautifully. Service is outstanding as well. You have a choice of a three or four course meal with several choices from the menu. We found the food to be excellent but it is expensive and as they say, "You get what you pay for". I do have one negative comment. We had a five year-old child with us and found nothing on the menu to accommodate a reasonable choice . We asked for a small bowl of plain pasta with butter which we were charged $20.00 for it- somewhat over the top! Otherwise, it is an extraordinary dining experience and we Highly recommend it. Bon Appetite!
We went for lunch/brunch on a weekend so it is a pre-fixe menu. I think the selection of food is good so no worries there. The positives first
- big plus on accommodating and remembering Gluten Free special diets (i.e. they had GF bread upon request)
- the bread basket absolutely excellent. What one expect of a quality hotel
- the setting is nice as you get to look out onto green
- the service was attentive and available
- the food was meh both in terms of taste and presentation. The quality of ingredient was still there so passable but would expect better for a quality restaurant especially in wine country and at an exclusive hotel like Auberge
Lives up to the Reputation
The view from the Patio is simply one of the finest I have ever seen while dining. The presentation of the food was as impressive as anywhere else.
Its not cheap, but it is not really much more than a Rutherford Grill or one of the restaurants in Napa. It was cheaper than a steak house or one of the trendy sushi restaurants.
We went in expecting "snooty" service but it never happened. All the staff were attentive and a pleasure to interact with. The clientele was diverse. The food was outstanding.
I will return anytime I am in the Valley.
Auberge came highly recommended and lived up to the hype. This is really a special occasion restaurant. Tasting menu is interesting and adventurous with wonderful flavors. Service was superb from entire staff including Sommelier who was friendly and approachable. Dining outside on the expansive covered patio is lovely with outstanding views of the Valley. Only complaint is the overpriced wine list and lack of affordable wines. Lowest wine by the glass price is $22/glass and rises steeply from there. Average bottle price is in the hundreds of dollars. The wine component drives total check to nearly unacceptable/unaffordable levels. Corkage fee is $40...that should be your first clue as to pricing! I get that this is a 5-star resort with an upscale restaurant but come on...the wine mark-up is absurd!! Mix in a few of the many wonderful Napa Valley wines that are delicious and affordable; typical customers are not employees of the Wine Spectator! Other than that, we would certainly return here for another special occasion visit. There are many good restaurants in the Napa Valley but we would come here hands down over the others.
View, view, view! There is nothing that can beat this view - I went for lunch and the gnocchi is amazing for an appetizer! Their buttermilk cheesecake is the best dessert I have ever had! Small portions and a bit pricey - but you get what you pay for! Would absolutely return again!
We came for the view, but were blown away by the flavors of my risotto. Seriously, incredible cuisine! My husband, who is not into fancy food, was amazed by the tastes on his plate (ahi tuna) and said that I have now converted him to "foodie" status. We could not recommend Auberge de Soliel any higher than we do and would suggest you put this restaurant on your "must do" list while in Napa.
Singularly unimpressive meal. We were 5 people and we got to see and sample 15 dishes as a result. Other than the foie gras every dish was a disappointment. Low on originality, taste, complexity and absolutely no interesting textures
We missed creativity, nuances and the compositions appeared superimposed rather than balanced.
There's were no surprising elements and we also found much of it under seasoned and lacking in innovation.
Other restaurants in the region were far far better and this was way under expectation
There are not enough words to describe the outstanding experience that Was our reality at Auberge last weekend. Every detail was addressed in the most professional manner. The heat was an issue. We were seated on the outside patio when one member of our party became somewhat overwhelmed. The staff at Auberge was nonplussed and reseated us inside immediately. I cannot say enough about the service, the food, the ambiance and the entire experience overall! I would like to make special mention of our server, Aleshia- She was outstanding -
Very disappointed that although we informed the restaurant dinner was a very special occasion, our
Party of four was seated at a table for, at least, six next to another large table that was louder than expected.
Dinner was delicious, service was wonderful but our initial concern about the table was handled poorly....or rather
Not handled at all. The hostess was not pleasant or sympathetic to our concern.
It's not every day that you get to sip wines overlooking the beautiful Napa Valley countryside and enjoy a meal at the same time. No detail was overlooked from the moment we arrived and received the complimentary valet parking to the bespoke loose leaf tea concoction that capped off our lunch. We were pleasantly surprised with unpretentious environment, warm service and genuine hospitality. Our server, Alexandra, was knowledgeable and wonderfully attentive. I highly recommend the lobster salad, truly impeccable! An impressive, picture-worthy place to celebrate any occasion.
As usual, the views were phenomenal. This was our third visit to Auberge and we were excited to bring friends to experience the restaurant for a special occasion. We received poor service. We had a party of 8 for lunch early on a Sunday. We were surprised that it was a brunch menu, not the usual menu. The waitress avoided our table and we had a hard time getting her attention when we needed something. To us it appeared that she was too busy chatting with other servers. She could not get our order right. We had to ask several times to get our drink orders. The brunch food was not as special as we had experienced on previous occasions. We did call the manager to let her know about our disappointing experience. She apologized. Our friends were not impressed and we honestly don't want to go back there on our next trip to Napa. We expected more from a five star restaurant.
Went there for my husband's "BIG 50" birthday celebration. Did not disappoint!!! Everything was outstanding! The wine pairing was excellent and we found a great winery to visit the next day from their recommendation. The food was beautifully arranged and just the right portion for the course menu. It is a bit pricey and we won't be able to afford dining there on every visit to Napa, but we highly recommend for special occasion. There is a free sitting at the bar patio and it may be more affordable. We will definitely try there next time.
