About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Charming
  • Romantic
The original jewel in the Oliver & Bonacini crown and a North Toronto icon, Auberge du Pommier has been serving guests since 1987. Constructed around the rustic vestiges of two 1860’s woodcutters’ cottages, Auberge du Pommier combines country charm with contemporary sophistication and style. Featuring wood burning fireplaces in winter and lush, floral terraces in summer, it is a welcoming, refined retreat from the city.

Please note: reservations for Summerlicious open on June 29, and will be available online only.

This restaurant is always a pleasure to visit — consistently excellent service and food. However, during this visit, there was a large group of guests who were singing loudly, which made the atmosphere quite noisy. It would have been better if they were asked to tone it down out of consideration for other diners. Overall, still a very satisfying experience.

Auberge du Pommier - A Disappointing Summerlicious Experience I’ve always wanted to try this hidden gem and finally visited during Summerlicious. I ordered the chicken liver parfait, steak and frites, and chocolate gâteau for dessert. Unfortunately, several issues detracted from what should have been an exceptional dining experience: Food Quality Concerns: My steak arrived medium-well despite requesting medium-rare, and lacked proper seasoning—the accompanying fries and zucchini were actually saltier than the steak itself. The gravy had an off taste that was quite noticeable. When I brought this to my server’s attention, they did provide two additional medium-rare slices with better seasoning, which I appreciated. I traded with my old cuts and enjoyed the fresh ones with better texture and flavor. Presentation Issues: The dessert plate arrived with chocolate powder smudged in three spots, creating an unprofessional appearance that didn’t match the restaurant’s reputation. Service Gaps: My water glass remained unfilled throughout the entire meal until I requested the check, which is unusual for a restaurant of this caliber. Management Response: When settling the bill, another server acknowledged my concerns and explained that Summerlicious helps them identify areas for improvement, suggesting this wasn’t their usual standard. While I appreciate the acknowledgment, this response left me questioning whether special event dining is treated as less important than regular service. For a high-end establishment, basic expectations like properly cooked steaks, clean plate presentation, and attentive service should be consistent regardless of the dining format. I hope they use this feedback constructively, as the restaurant clearly has potential.

I really didn't iike the risotto I ordered. Usually, risottos in Italian restaurants are very creamy with a lot of cream and milk. It is one of my favorite ddishes. This risotto was not creamy at all. It felt like it was a vegetable risotto. The soup was also cold. Aren't soups supposed to be warm? Other than that, the restaurant was very nice which was one of the main reasons I wanted try. I just did not enjoy the food as much.

I was there for Summerlicious. Great ambiance and service, nice cocktails, but food overall was not my favourite. Had Steak Frites and meat was chewy and not very flavourful. My mother had Pacific Cod and fish was tender but was also lacking flavour, quinoa tabbouleh side dish was very tasty. We also decided to order Summer Risotto in addition to our Summerlicious dishes, and we were allowed to do so, which was great. Risotto was excellent. I would come back for this dish. Overall, very good experience but food can be improved.

We were at the Auberge to celebrate our anniversary. Our server, Andrew, was excellent! He was genial & welcoming, & wished us a “Happy Anniversary” as he seated us. He returned several times, to ensure that all was satisfactory. We chose the Summerlicious lunch - the food was great, & very artfully served. The other staff members were also extremely friendly & professional - including the lady at the desk, & the young man who took us to our table. This wasn’t our first visit, & we definitely intend to return!

Was a lovely treat to dine here. Service was wonderful. Food and wine was great! However, a boo-boo was made on my bill and we were overcharged. Thankfully, we noticed, and it was taken care of immediately. Will return for special occasions.

Auberge du Pommier remains the premier French restaurant in Toronto! Our server was wonderful and made the evening perfect! His advice was very helpful and spot-on about the dinner menu and especially about the wine selections! Vichyssoise Soup was the perfect classic French style with a twist (generously garnished with shrimp) and my guest found the Vol-au-vent foie gras delicious. We were so pleased we ordered the Pain au Lait, it was a real treat! The Chantecler Poulet was nouvelle French style and truly delicious. The Special Coffees selection is delightful and we enjoyed La Cappuccinco Royal and Spanish Coffee.
