The food quality is very good and the waiter is very friendly and professional taking time to explain to us about the menu. We were there late so not too many people still having lunch that time so there isn't much noise. However, the tables were laid out quite close to each other so during peak time it could be a different story
Everything was fabulous and service was wonderful. Our server was knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the menu. Probably one of the best service experiences we’ve had. And the cheese selection was a highlight of the meal. We would absolutely go back!!
By the time my partners main came out I had finished my main. No apology or explanation. Service slow overall.
Excellent fine dining experience. The food and ingredients used are of the highest quality. The service staff are very polite, friendly and knowledgeable of the foods and offer options when you cannot decide. Perfect for a special occasion or celebration.
Wonderful food, environment and service. Truly a special evening for celebration. Pricey, but the value is there!
Amazing food and great customer service. An amazing atmosphere which makes for a special occasion.
Nouvelle cuisine forget it. Meagre portions with high prices. Service a was intermittent ..... but good when it happened. If you can get a bank loan and are on a diet a good pace to go...
One of my favourite restaurants! I’ve been there a few times and every time I go back it just keeps getting better. The food is always so creative and delicious it’s truly incredible.
Expensive but it was a nice and delicious experience!
Pricey diner but I was there for New Years Eve and I am sure the normal menu would be less. Only complaint is it took them 25 min to seat us after our reservation time. Other than that our waitress was great and the service excellent. I would give the food an 8.5 out of ten. All in all a wonderful way to bring in the new year.
As usual , food and service were well above
Expectations , value for New Year’s Eve was
Decent value , only disappointment was
We were seated in room they use for private functions, so we didn’t experience the beauty of the main room we ate at numerous times
We were really disappointed with the restaurant. We have been there three times before and it was excellent. This time, it was poor! First, we reserved thinking that it will be a New Year Celebration, but with people arriving and departing at any time, no ambiance at all ! Two, they put us in a table right at the door, where waiters passed in front and in the back of the table constantly and it looks like a car table, while there were other free tables! Third, we had steak tartare which is supposed to be at room temperature - it was cold and cheese frozen - then the homard bisque - cold too - then the duck was dried! It seems like everything was prepared in advance, to save time! Honestly, for a New Year Celebration and high price, we were really disappointed and we left to be back home to start New Year in good spirit! It doesn't mean that we will try this restaurant again and to recommend it to a friend...well sorry but now we are afraid of doing it!
We have always enjoyed our visits over the past 20+ years. However, New Years was not a good choice. While staff were coping with the 4 rooms of guests the food was not up to usual. Venison was excellent but the duck was too compressed and dry. The mushroom soup was a puzzle. So little in such a huge bowl made it difficult to spoon up and the one mushroom cap on a piece of potato was the only mushroom flavour; the broth was insipid. As a courtesy to diners who wish to avoid sugar, a fruit or cheese option would be good to include. The server did find a fruit selection when asked.
Back to a nice lunch or quiet dinner in the long room near the fireplace.
Decadent, exquisite, fine dining at its best
I grew up in Montreal, very exposed and familiar to French cuisine, and therefore a bit picky when it comes to French food.
Auberge du Pommier is top notch.
I surprised my wife with dinner here for our anniversary. Sadly, we were quite disappointed with our meal. We opted for the tasting menu, which looked very promising, but several of the dishes fell very short: the mackerel appetizer smelled very fishy, the gnocchi was gummy and mushy and just hard to hard to eat, and the sturgeon was way overdone, dry, and then drowned in way to much heavy sauce. At that price point, I feel every dish should be flawless.
The meal wasn't a total flop though. The boar pastrami, and venison dishes were quite excellent, and their desserts were all spot on. To their credit, after my wife expressed her concerns about the gnocchi, they ended up bringing another dessert dish to share (mille feuille), which was again wonderful. We were also glad that we opted for the wine pairing, since the extra $50 for five glasses was a great value and we really enjoyed each of the selections.
The service was of very high caliber, and our servers did a great job explaining each dish and each wine to us. We appreciated their efforts when they tried to amend for the terrible gnocchi dish. Also, the dining room itself had a very nice quiet, cozy feel with nice decor.
Given our sub par experience, and all the great restaurants in the city, I wouldn't choose to go back. But I'd be willing to try again if I was with a group that wanted to go. I'd just be sure to steer clear of the tasting menu, and choose my own dishes and hope for a better time. Maybe no fish or seafood, and stick with their meats and desserts.
This lunch between Christmas and New Years is a decade long tradition. And is always an oasis of calm thanks to the beautiful room, the fireplace, and the service staff. The recipe for the steak tartare has changed and I missed the little pops of sauces. But the new one is delicious. That chestnut and apple soup sent me to the internet for a recipe; I hope I can come close. Thanks to all again.
Food was excellent but service was a bit slow. Overall we had a good dining experience
We came to your restaurant for lunch for 3 times this month, one on the 9th for my birthday, one on 22nd (brunch) and one on 30th. On both occasions on the 9th & 30th, we were greeted by your receptionist with a cold face, wonder whether she was in a bad mood or she just doesn’t care. For your restaurant with that rating, we feel that we should be more welcomed once you step in.
Great! We had excellent service and the food was amazing!
Wonderful atmosphere and excellent menu. Pleasure to be back to Auberge du Pommier.
Auberge among only a handful of restaurants in TO has been delivering dining experience that is among the top consistently for the past 20+ years. From greeting to final departure, always a pleasurable experience.
First time dining here and it totally lived up to my expectations. Wonderful service with all the small touches that make the difference. Had the Holiday brunch and each course was delicious. Beautifully presented and all the flavours worked well together
Food in general was a bit salty, would be must better had the sodium level been reduced. The three of us had different appetizer and main, yet we all find the food on the salty side.
It was absolutely wonderful
Great restaurant. The food is incredible and flavourful. Got the duck menu and the food was definitely more than what I expected. The duck was juicy and lean. The dessert was excellent. The server was extremely attentive. I thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant.
My experience was not as good as the same event last year because...
1. The restaurant seemed shabby...chairs have been replaced with old threadbare ones; one room was empty and seemed abandoned.
2. Food was all righT but not delicious. Portions were small and some items were not available. My dessert was not good enough at all.
3. We requested Prosecco... it wasn’t offered on the menu at all. The waiter managed to get two glasses for us - why is such a popular wine not offered?
4. Although the restaurant was not busy, service was spotty. When I left, no one was at the front desk to get my coat. I had to go in the cloakroom to get it myself. A staff member was in the room, but did not offer to help.
I will try one more time.
We all enjoyed the food and ambiance very much. The service was excellent.
They really know how to take care of you even during the busy holiday season. Consistently good food.
The foods are great.
This is my first time, the only problem is to find the parking where near the restaurant.
As always, great food, atmosphere and especially the service. Our wait staff were on it.
I was going to give Auberge du Pommier another try as the experience was not as extraordinary as what I had before, unfortunately I am disappointed again this year. I went for lunch with my wife as our typical end of year lunch-date,food tastes good but not excellent, or have any surprise factor at all...I've ordered Bouef but it is on the salty side...too much seasoning left on the side of the beef, making it very salty when it goes with the sauce...dessert definitely is a disappointment, Creme Brulee is mediocre, Mont Blanc with the house made peanut butter tastes a bit better but not impressive. Overall it's still decent quality but it's not as exceptional as before, it's actually very very sad to see the quality goes down for a once-all-time-favorite like this.
Excellent service and food quality as always when visiting Auberge.
Fantastic little spot outside Toronto. Highly recommend.
As always, the entire evening was a delight. We know we can count on the Auberge staff to provide great service, delicious and beautifully presented food, all in a gorgeous setting. Our favourite restaurant in Toronto, hands-down!
Servers were very attentive and food came out in a timely manner. Food was excellent!
I have been here several times over the last 20 years and this time is clearly one of the best.
From start to finish, the service was fabulous. The food was fresh and perfect. The presentation was beautiful.
I will back soon. Cheers!
This was my first lunch visit. Disappointed you did not provide parking, and it's hard to find.
The noise level was much higher than I am used to for the evening crowd.
The food was good, not really up to the standard I expected. I had the romaine salad, the dressing was vague and not very tasty. I and a friend at the coq au vin, and however this dish is cooked, the sauce is key. In this version, the taste of the sauce was ok, but there actually was very little of it. Also only white meat, which was slightly on the dry side. Didn't 'feel' at all like coq au vin, to be truthful.
The service was excellect.
Great food! And the server was super knowledgeable of the wine, which was great
Very fancy restaurant, I was there for my husband's birthday and we really enjoyed the food and the service was professional. The inside of the restaurant is cosy and warm, many people for a weekday...it's little expansive but its worth it.
I recommend it for special occasions.
The decor was tasteful, bright and reflected the Christmas mood at hand. The Cornish hen portion size was generous and glasses of red wine reasonably priced. The bread pudding was sumptuous and was a good choice for this time of year, as was the chestnut soup. I would suggest that the waiter refrain from calling us "guys". We were two couples, myself, my husband and my elderly parents. "Guys" is not a term I would expect in an elegant dining ambiance. Perhaps "folks" would be better suited to the occasion or just "Enjoy the rest of your day" and leave it at that.
