soft bourbon vanilla custard / torched brown sugar
fried calamaris / tartar sauce
Steak Frites au poivre
10 oz New York steak / green peppercorn sauce / lavender french fries
Spectacular food, the mussels were a work of art, the salmon and the filet were great....highly recommended.
Excellent food and service. Vvery nice birthday surprise for my wife.
The food is amazing! Californian Benedict is fantastic. I absolutely love this place.
This is a gem of a neighborhood restaurant. I have been a patron for six years
The Beef Bourguignon was salty and the meat was really overcooked. There were 2 small pieces of the overcooked meat, kind of like beef jerky. You would think that since we were eating at 4:30 when the restaurant opened it would be fresh and tender. My friend ordered the skirt steak. He was not happy with it. Not sure of the issue. My son ordered the lamb chops. He had no complaints except that his water glass was dirty and his napkin looked like it had old blood on it. The escargot was good and so was the fried calamari. The best part was the service was good. The server covered all of the inside and the outside tables by herself. Must have been 9 tables or so. Sad, because this place use to be good.
First time for dinner at Au Revoir. We really enjoyed the food starting with appetizers - escargot and cheese board. We each tried different entrees - filet mignon, sea bass, duck confit and the pork chop. All were excellent. Ended up too full to try the desserts. Will be back!
It's a rather modest place and parking in Hillcrest can be a challenge, but the food is as good or better than any other French restaurant in San Diego. The onion soup was authenticaly delicious as were my wife's snails which were appropriately swimming in pungent garlic butter. The double cut pork chop with cherry sauce was teriffic and my wife though her salmon was excellent. Their creme brulee is probably the best I've had...anywhere, ever. The restaurant is simple, as is their wine list, so don't go there if you want fancy French fare. But it's great food (with generous portions) at rather modest prices deservest 5-stars.
Fantastic menu, value, very laid back and no wait for a table for brunch. We'll definitely come back soon for the crepes!
Do not believe anything on their website. They do NOT have the Tuesday 3 course menu that is displayed on their website. Just one waitress who has only been there 1 week and one guy in the kitchen. The steak frites were smothered in mushroom gravy and the risotto was mediocre. Its too bad. I used to really like this place.
I took my boyfriend and his son here for Father's Day and we were extremely happy. We started with the calamari, which was a significant portion for an appetizer. My boyfriend had the lamb, I had a special (seared scallops with black garlic and mushroom risotto), and his son had a special (slow cooked rabbit). Each of us was blown away by our meal and loved trying bites of each other's. Everything was cooked to perfection. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better. We will definitely be back for another special occasion or to treat ourselves.
We had the most magnificent seared scallops on risotto for Dinner. Tough choice between that and the other special Rabbit.
My friends and I came for the food and we were not disappointed. The quality of the food was outstanding. Unfortunately, the restaurant was has having some difficulties that caused it not to have everything they usually have, but those difficulties were probably due to the pandemic and should be temporary.
The food and service were excellent. There was absolutely nothing to complain about. We are already looking forward to out next visit.
Always the best French food in Dan Diego! 💙🤍❤️
We greatly enjoined our dinner. As two 90 year olds, we welcomed the attentive service and the food was excellent.
Been dining here for years and can't beat consistent great French food menu, especially Cunard a L'Orange with its side dishes, snails, etc.
This place is by far my favorite for French food. Everything was fresh, delicious, and the service was impeccable. I’ll be coming back with friends and family soon.
We were in the mood for French cuisine, and Au Revoir did not disappoint. We were able to sit outside with our dog, and this made the dinner even more enjoyable for us. The lavender French fries were truly delicious and just a bit different. We enjoyed the steak frites, the moules and the warm bread. The Caesar salad was also delicious. The wine selection was a bit thin, otherwise, we had a wonderful time and enjoyed our dinner very much.
Great food and wait staff. We really enjoyed ourselves
Food fantastic! I miss French speaking waiters.....added to ambiance!
We went for the frog legs- that is no longer a menu option.(I should have checked the website vs the OpenTable menu) The food was average at best with the exception of the lavender fries- those were great. We ordered the chicken over gnocchi and the lamb, both of which were sadly overcooked . The ambiance is very casual and does not match the meal prices. The service was slow and parking was a hassle. Overall, not a horrible experience, but I would not return.
I read many bad reviews about this restaurant and the service, but I ignored them, I was wrong. I made a reservation for my birthday for 6 people, after some days I called and changed my reservation for 12 people, however two extra friends arrived the same day. A rational response from a restaurant would have been to accommodate us all because the circumstances, however, in this restaurant they asked my friends to leave because they didn’t want to move a table (we all are fully vaccinated and my birthday was Tuesday the restaurant was EMPTY, in addition the they had enough space and tables available to add TWO people). Immediately, I went to the Italian restaurant next to this one (Arrivederci) and explained my situation. They didn’t doubt in accommodate us all. My experience in AuRevoir is and will be the worst experience of all my entire life. This is not fake, I’m willing to give you my phone number and explain it personally if it’s necessary. Believe me, do not waste your time, do not let people who you love had a bad moment and find another French restaurant for special occasions, there are plenty. I will copy and paste this review in all places as possible because I don’t want people had the same feelings I had. In addition, Read my review for Arrivederci (Yelp)
Our waiter was by himself and was able to serve everyone in the restaurant without appearing flustered. He did a great job.
Au Revoir has a well-chosen French menu. Steak et frites was the perfect choice for a substantial meal. Wine and dessert will persuade the most obstinate eater to return.
A very satisfying meal.
First timers at AAU Revoir. Food was great! Kir Royals were delicious! Definitely recommend the baked Camembert! Would go back next time we are in the area!
Lovely brunch, nice contemporary French music, and the food was deeeeelicious!
Great traditional French cuisine. There is a nice southern French seasoning of the chef in all the tasty food.
Wonderful place! Had the rainbow trout special: excellent!
My experience started with being served Mexican birote bread slightly toasted. Wasn’t expecting Mexican bread at a French restaurant. Then we ordered the pate plate, and the server couldn’t/didn’t tell us which pate was which. Then came the mussels, which where smelly and very old. We couldn’t eat them! Then came the filet mignon which was slightly over cooked. The only saving grace was they didn’t charge us for the mussels. Won’t be going back there.
It was good, I’d probably go back.
The calamari some of the best I’ve had
Overall a good pick for casual French food
Absolutely outstanding. Everything from wine list to dessert list. Incredible flavors.
Service awesome. Price point excellent. We will be back and I highly recommend this place. We are total foodies too.. Escargot-mussels-trout stuffed with lobster-hanger steak-lavender French Fries-Creme Brûlée- Brioche bread pudding.
Portions are large also. Not your typical French portions.
Food was not perfectperfect. Neither was the service. But all in all, both were VERY good. And the prices were extremely reasonable. We had brunch, including a delicious"Californian" Eggs Benedict with avocados, fruit, and wonderful French-style roasted potatoes, for only $12. And their "Bottomless Mimosa", which included an entire bottle of very good California champagne, was also only $12. We've eaten here for years. It's well worth the trip.
It was a great quiet calm atmosphere! Our waiter was awesome!!
A favorite spot in San Diego for the last 7 years. Food is consistently good, ambiance great for intimate conversations or catching up with a group. Service is friendly and reliable. Reasonably priced.
great brunch menu with an in and out dining feelimg.
Like all the other Mastellone family of restaurants, Au Revoir never falls short of providing consistently good meals combined with attentive service.
From the escargots to the salmon, duck confit, or boeuf bourguignon, and ending with a berry-topped creme brulee, every bite was as good as the last one.
For whatever reason, we don't eat here often enough. That needs to change!
Fantastic food and lovely French music. Service very good.
Fantastic french cuisine! Small bistro atmosphere. Thoroughly pleasant and professional service. We had the onion soup, scallops au gratin, croque madame, and beef bourginogne. Creme brulee for dessert. Everything was delicious and hot. Prices were surprisingly moderate. Really great value. Plan to return for dinner and would highly recommend to anyone.
Food is very good but way too salty. Ask for no salt when you order.
Great food, great service, a warm and inviting ambience. Loved it!
