This restaurant has consistently delivered good food and service over the last 10 years, surviving multiple management changes in the process.
In the midst of the restaurant week hubbub, Au Revoir was like an old friend: trustworthy, stable, and knowing what we liked. We had forgotten how nice it is to have a little neighborhood restaurant that delivers quality food and service consistently and without fanfare. It was great to see the tables filled with families, singles, and couples on a Saturday night. Soft music, so you could converse quietly, not yell above the noise. Keep it going, Au Revoir!
Mussles were the most delicious I've had in a long time. Fries were good, but a little TOO "lavendery".
My husband made a reservation for Au Revoir for a special celebration, on Monday night. Upon arrival, we could see there were several tables open. We were approached by a young man (not smiling), and we let him know we had a reservation for two. He simply pointed to a table and said you may sit there. We asked if we might be able to sit somewhere else and were abruptly told NO that all the other tables were reserved. We sat down and ordered two kir royales which were marginal tasting at best (we were told they were made with champagne and raspberry flavored syrup--not a typical recipe for a kir royale). We were sipping our kir royales and within 5 minutes the same young man came back to take our order. We told him we were enjoying our drinks and hadn't even looked at the menu. He huffed and looked at his watch and then looked at us and rudely said OKAY. He was quite unfriendly and obviously annoyed by us. He was clearly the only person on staff, beside chefs (perhaps stressed). We finished our drinks and left a $20 on the table. We walked down the street to a nearby restaurant and enjoyed a pleasant dinner experience that we thoroughly enjoyed and service with many smiles. We will not be returning to Au Revoir!
Service was great, food was very good; only problem was soup and food were warm not hot.
Always great & pretty authentic French food. Love it. Thanks. Peggy
One of our favorite neighborhood bistros. Au Revoir never disappoints. Entertained our nephew and his wife for brunch. Sad that they no longer serve Bloody Marys, but the table enjoyed the bottomless Mimosas. Crepes were delightful; service a delight. Always fun to eat here.
Superb neighborhood restaurant; better than most highly rated restaurants in the City.
We look forward once a year to dining at Au Revoir while on vacation. And we are never disappointed! A real France experience.
We love your restaurant! This is our 2nd time and we had a beautiful experience celebrating our daughter's 12th Birthday. Luciano, our server, was so sweet, kind, amazing to all our needs. Our daughter wanted to have her 1st tween luncheon on her birthday, New Year's Day. The escargot, French onion soup, calamari, Croq Madam, lavender fries, and all that we had was empecable & deliciously amazing. My father loved his food and asked to come back soon. Thank you for a beautiful luncheon.
Always a delicious meal with really great service!!
We've been to Au Revoir many times, as it's in our neighborhood. We always receive good food at reasonable prices. Service is very spotty. So as we wanted to enjoy a semi-casual Christmas Eve dinner, Au Revoir looked good, especially since the website didn't indicate any special holiday menu. Well, unfortunately, all they had was a special holiday menu at $55 ea., and they were not willing to serve us only one entree at a reduced cost. Mine was good as always, but my husband wasn't very thrilled with his steak. All in all, a bit of a disappointment for a usually satisfying meal at Au Revoir. As we visit there often, and we were even recognized, you would expect a little more personal service....
This place has French classic dishes down almost perfect. For example the fritz are perfect - crispy and thin cut. The scallops were cooked to perfection. But the service is poor at best!
Very disappointed in the terrible service we encountered, waited one and a half hours for our dinner.
I expressed our disappointment with the main waiter and he just said they were busy, offered to give
us one free desert. They saw us sitting there waiting and no one came over to ask how we were doing,
I had to complain as he was oblivious to our waiting so long.
Food was served cold. A bit pricey
Over very good. The food was very tasty and the service was impeccable.
We just returned from a trip to France and picked Au Revoir to remember the great food. Au Revoir took us back to France. Great food.
Food was under seasoned. The ambience was terrible. Had the smell of the bathroom in the dining room. They boxed our leftovers which had soaked through the box by the time I got it home and had to throw it away. I would not suggest this restaurant until they clean up the or act. They also did not have any Bloody Mary mix for the one of two drinks on the menu.
We had a great time. Food was delicious and the service was fantastic. Truly enjoyed our date night
We all loved our dishes; I had the sea bass on risotto, which was wonderful; another had the hangar steak w frites and loved both the meat and the herbed butter.
I cannot recommend Au Revior for a group. I made a reservation a week in advance for 6 at 8 pm and was never told at that time or when I was seated that the kitchen closed at 9:30. It would have been good to have that information. Also, our servers essentially abandoned out table, neither clearing dishes nor filling water or wine glasses. I spent well over $300 and was very chagrined by the service. The food was delicious. The service left a bitter taste in the mouth.
Nice French food. Escargot, duck, lamb, camembert.
An amazing time. They were so accommodating and everyone's food was perfect. We will definitely be back.
I met two friends here for lunch. They had never been and I like the restaurant and wanted to introduce it to them.
We were the only clients in the place. Our lunch took so long to be delivered- I kept wondering why. When we received our steak frites two out of the three steaks were almost
raw and after waiting so long! Plus I ordered mine medium well and my friend ordered hers medium.
By the time we got our food back - we were kind of over it.
I always try to be understanding if a restaurant is busy but there was really no excuse.
I was very disappointed for my friend and myself.
We had been to Au Revior before and always loved it. Tonight we were six people with a 5:30 reservation. We were seated immediately as there was only one other party there. I told the waitress immediately that we had an 8:00 curtain. I also discussed vegetarian options with her. She was not very familiar with the dinner menu as she usually worked lunch. She spoke to the chef and they agreed that they could make something with no mushrooms. Perfect. We ordered our drinks and our food. One drink came with a glass with lipstick on it. That was quickly corrected. Our appetizers came in a reasonable timeframe. And then we sat and sat and waited and waited. By now others had been seated and everyone around us was getting their food. I asked the waitress several times what the hang-up was. I reminded her we were on a schedule. An hour later the food came. The vegetarian dish was with mushrooms although we had specifically discussed no mushrooms. And one of our party never got his food. The waitress had neglected to turn it in. All in all it was a disaster of a meal. I will not be back.
We had a party of six. The service was excellent and attentive and the meals were delicious. What we found unusual was that for those of us that did not ordered appetizers/starters, we were served our entrees while the rest of the group were just starting on their appetizers/starters. They were served their entrees later on while some of the group had already finished their entrees. The restaurant should really let those who ordered appetizers/starters finish this course first and then serve all entrees at the same time.
The food was very good, especially the escargots, chicken and beef bourginon. Our server was VERY friendly and offered
tastes of wine to everyone who wanted just a glass. We will definitely return.
The service was friendly and just enough. They allowed us to relax , enjoy each other’s company and our meal. The experience reminded me of those lovely leisurely dinners in Provence. Just perfect!
A restaurant with excellent food and wine selection. A real place, casual setting sans pomp and snobbery.
Lovely place. Enjoyed a late lunch. Everything was perfect!
Food was really good. Even though there were only three tables including us, the waiter was not attentive at all and never even offer to refill water till we asked. Impressed with the meal but very disappointed with the service.
Best sea bass I have eaten in a long time. The risotto and diced asparagus which accompanied it was perfect.
This is an awesome spot, really great food, great service, and warmly welcomed us to
their venue. This one is a keeper for any occasion
Wonderful atmosphere and service. Food is always amazing here, can’t stop coming back.
First time here -- from the pate appetizer (with wonderful bread) to main dish (orange duck - so tender and juicy) to dessert (creme brulee) every dish was wonderful! Thoughtful and well-paced service and a good offering of wine and beer choices .
Always delicious and delicate food, my boyfriend who's familiar with French and has travelled much said it is very authentic. Great and helpful staff!
Delicious French cuisine in an absolutely charming space! The staff members were gracious and very attentive. Can't wait to go back!
Great service; Cecile is a French cuisine expert! Great wine recommendations as well!
Au Revoir is one of my ALLTIME favorite restaurants! Their food is delicious, especially their soups! You can't miss their lavender fries so try them as soon as you can. I love their salads, and yesterday I tried the ravioli and I'm so glad I did! This place is consistently outstanding!
