This was arguably the best restaurant in Santa Cruz County. Everyone I know will be making trips to Monterey to eat at the new restaurant. We ate there three times in the past ten days because we knew Michel and Muriel wouldn't be there after October 28. Excellent cuisine, menu choices, service, and ambiance. The new restaurant will be bigger and I believe their fans will multiply quickly.
Excellent meal, authentic fresh cuisine , friendly staff, good wine
Absolutely perfect food and service.
Sorry to see them leave Aptos but we wish them well in Monterey.
I took my wife there for her birthday. She is a foodie and we were both extremely pleased with our meals. The husband and wife owners are French and it shows in everything they do. We were, however, saddened when we heard that they are closing their current location to re-open in Monterey.
Phenomenal food. Accommodated my mom’s restrictive dietary needs with the utmost respect and friendliness. And spoke real French.
Michel and Muriel have made this a great taste of Provence France. She has some creative twists on traditional recipes. Friendly couple who make you feel like you are dining in France.
This is the place for French food! Very knowledgeable server and inventive food! We ALWAYS enjoy our meal and feel like we are back in the south of France. Go Soon!
Absolute favorite! Muriel is an incredible chef. Every bite is an epic experience. Must go
Excellent cuisine and attentive service in a quiet ambience.
Au Midi is a must visit restaurant.
The food presentation is superb, the food and flavor range is superb. I wish we had known about it and visited before now.
One of the best restaurants in town and Muriel is one of the best chefs in town. Amazing French food and great service. My wife's Halibut in foam was perfect. Chef often comes to the table to say hi. Really worth the visit.
This is a gourmet restaurant that can stand against the best in the world. the menu is creative with delicate , yet intense, flavors .....
a rare combination . My fish was surrounded by a lemongrass cloud which was sublime. The salad, dessert, and even ice cream had unexpected pairings that make one's taste buds dance.
We have been to this restaurant several times and always enjoy the food.
There is really no other restaurant in Santa Cruz/Aptos that cooks real French food. They use wonderfully fresh seasonal ingredients, so there are always new menu items. We have gone there twice now and the service and the food are outstanding. They have a great, reasonably priced wine list and they always have great pairing recommendations. In my view it's the best restaurant in the area, well worth the drive from Santa Cruz.
My first time, and it confirmed the stellar reputation I'd heard of Au Midi. Three of us and I sampled all the entrees. All superb - Magret du canard cooked suitable rare, moulles, and a tenderloin of pork. With a nice burgundian Pinot Noir to fit this variety. Even the enjoyment of talking with the proprietors - chef and service sides. I've already found an excuse to return next week and will look forward to trying the new location in Monterey when it is up and running. Well done Au Midi. Merci Muriel et Michel.
Au Midi is a special treat. Exquisitely prepared French food. Don't let the modest strip mall setting fool you - the cuisine is top notch. The duck is excellent. My husband had the mussels, and they were the best he's had.
Outstanding good. Delightful service. We will go there more often!
The restaurant was terrific, intimate & gracious. Staff was very friendly, explained menu without being condescending. Food was super. Look forward to our next visit.
As always, Au Midi prepared a spectacular meal for us. Our very favorite restaurant in all of Santa Cruz County!
Unassuming little gem: authentic French dining at a reasonable price. Superb service and incredibly passionate chef. Made our 20th Anniversary special without pretense.
not good for a birthday as they did not make any attempt to acknowledge.
Charming and warm little place. Creative ad original cuisine. Chef and owner came out to greet everyone.
Lovely get together with okd friend. Rose and mussells, shared the ile flotante
My warm vegetable salad was AMAZING, and my husband's scalloped potatoes were fantastic. My Halibut was ok, and my husband's filet mignon was cooked perfectly, but the sauce was just ok. My floating Island dessert was disappointing- a ball of flavorless fluff? Nice music playing, good service.
This place is a hidden gem! Their food is creative, while sticking to the basics of French cooking. My wife and I have eaten here a number of times and have never had a bad meal.
My wife and I have been frequenting Au Midi since it first opened. Mu is a superb chef of French provincial (provencal) cuisine, and Michel is a warm, knowledgeable host, who also is a jazz aficionado. In our opinion, Au Midi is, hands down, the best restaurant in Santa Cruz County, and a good value as well. The wine list is very short, but extremely well chosen for quality and value.
As always, Au Midi is a lovely dining experience. I am never disappointed and always look forward to another visit
The food was spectacular. We took my mother here for her birthday and were not disappointed. I had the lemongrass ginger halibut and it was truly amazing. Super delicate, subtle and complex flavors with a richness that wash lush. Equally amazing was the filet mignon. The soup was unbelievable. Cream of Onion, complex and delightful. The waitor recommended excellent and affordable wine pairings. We were absolutely thrilled with the meal and the chef came out to greet and check with her diners in an effusive yet genuine manner that made us feel like she truly loves what she does. Thank you. We can taste it.
Always great food and excellent service and very tasty deserts!
French cooking done right is two steps above anything else and Au Midi does it right.
Absolutely outstanding in every way! Food, service, experience...all just fantastic! Thank you!
great food and pleasant experience
Always delicious!! Always friendly! Love this place and the owners.
This was my first visit to AU Midi. The food was delicious and it's presentation was in the best French tradition. Portion size was small (I had the scallops) however, the small size of the meal allowed me to have a dessert which I rarely have room for after a main course in most restaurants. Without the goodie at the end I would have ended the meal hungry. In addition, extended delays between the courses interrupted the flow of the meal. The chef was not rushed because only a few other tables were active. I don't know what their problem was. We were at table about two hours. I will try them again.
We had a gift certificate for this place so we went there. The duck was excellent but I did Not enjoy Paella. I really miss La Foret in San Jose but they are closed. The menu here was a little too limited.
Wonderful meal. Beautiful presentation & delicious flavors. Excellent unhurried service. Will be back!
This restaurant has always been wonderful. It is truly a gem; the food is amazing and the service is incredible.
Outstanding as usual. The food is excellent. The service is excellent, efficient, friendly, and personal. The chef alone is worth a visit. She personally visits most customers and is a joy to talk with. Really good food and great friends.
The best foods in town. You need to try everything on the menu, deserts are fantastic as well. I wish they have second location near downtown.
Outstanding food and service in quiet and relaxing atmosphere.
