Bring back the old Atwood. The menu is limited, but we both chose a chicken dish with Salsa Verdi. It was too spicy and the hash underneath had a very weird texture. They took back both dishes and we changed to steak. It was good. Service was sketchy- no water refills and we were given the wrong bill. I honestly don't think I would go back because of the noise and limited menu. Again, we have been to the new Atwood a few times, but when compared to the old menu, quieter ambiance and service, the old Atwood was a place I loved to go to- not this one. There are better choices in that neighborhood.
very good food, nice service, even a pleasant trio on a Saturday nite. all is all a nice surprise. would recommend it.
Excellent service with AMAZING food! Priced right for the neighborhood!
Excellent service! We are there before a show and they were so respectful of our timing. Not to mention the food was delicious
Dear MaryW, We are so glad to hear that Atwood turned out a successful experience for you all. Thank you for sharing and come back soon! Debra Torres Atwood General Manager
Service was inattentive, had to keep finding server by asking bus folks to send him to us for every step. BUT the chopped salad was super! and LARGE...split it!
Historic setting in The exquisite Reliance Building.
Dear SuzyR, Thank you for having lunch with us, and for informing us that the server was not as attentive. It is a always good to learn about both the downside of the experience and the upside. Kind regards, Debra Torres Atwood General Manager
Courteous, professional ,efficient service along with well-prepared food makes this a good choice for breakfast
Dear Phil, We appreciate the positive review and more importantly that you enjoyed breakfast with us in Atwood in the Chicago Loop. Kind regards, Debra Torres Atwood General Manager
Atwood serves delicious upscale, casual food. The restaurant is very stylish and the service is excellent. It is a favorite when we're in the neighborhood! Highly recommended!
Dear Thomas, Thank you for popping into Atwood in the Chicago loop. We appreciate the kind words. Much appreciated, Debra Torres Atwood General Manager
Portions were a bit small for the vegan dish.
Dear Anonymous: Which dish was it, Thanks for letting us know so we can improve. We appreciate you dining with us. Regards, Debra Torres Atwood General Manager
Our party of four had a lovely late (1 pm to 2:30 pm) lunch experience at Atwood on Saturday. A wonderful booth surrounded by glass made it great for conversation. Our server was terrific - friendly and very attentive, with a good sense of humor. The salads and omelet were terrific - as were the Bloody Mary's. Exceeded expectation, especially the stellar service.
Dear Globetrotter14, We are thrilled to hear your lunch visit was to your liking. We couldnt have done it without you! Please come back soon. Kind regards, Debra Torres Atwood General Manager
Great location, fantastic food, and excellent service. Such an easy place to eat before seeing a show!
We had the flat bread with pineapple, goat cheese, & chicken. The flat bread was a bit burnt. But it was yummy.
I had the Atwood buger. It was very good. The seasoned fries were outstanding. Our waitress was excellent. My friend had the chopped salad, and she enjoyed it.Had the dark chocolate gelato. YUM! The restaurant is inside a hotel and it's very beautiful. We didnt drink that night so I cant comment on that. The menu could be expanded a bit.
Dear ReneeA: Thank you for choosing Atwood. We hope you can return soon, perhaps try a drink from the beverage menu. To learn about our drink specials please follow us on Facebook or Instagram. Cheers! Debra Torres Atwood General Manager
We got there at 1pm on a Saturday and they were serving brunch only, with 2-3 actual lunch options. It was disappointing to not have lunch options.
Dear Anonymous, Thank you for stopping in for brunch. We truly appreciate your notation about the limited amount of entree offerings at brunch. We are willing to accommodate special requests and often can offer dinner items earlier. This instance is a teaching moment for us. Again with gratitude, Debra Torres Atwood General Manager
Would have liked a table by the window and a more knowledgeable waiter. Why the pineapple theme??
Dear Dinealot: Thank you kindly for the note. To answer you question; the pineapple is the symbol of hospitality, and we embrace is it so much as to name our hotels Staypineapple. We love to show off the symbolic fruit throughout the property. Also, I am very much interested to know what you were asking the waiter? We are always improving our servers knowledge as our menus are seasonal and any input is valuable to us. Kind regards, Debra Torres Atwood General Manager
We had an amazing meal! The service was perfect and everything was wonderful! Thank you Atwood for a wonderful anniversary dinner!
Dear Anonymous, Happy Anniversary and much Joy! We are delighted you celebrated your special occasion with us. It is so nice of you all to say so, thank you! Debra Torres Atwood General Manager
Great environment, good food. Perfect for a coffee chat with your boss.
Dear Brandon: Thank you for choosing Atwood for your important chat with your boss. We are so pleased to hear we were suitable for such an important meeting. Kind regards, Debra Torres Atwood General Manager
I love the ambiance. It is very light and bright. The service was great and the food was delicious. I thought there menu was very limiting.
Dear Nicko4: We appreciate your feedback, thank you kindly. Please visit us again, as the menu evolves with seasonal ingredients and specials. Kind regards, Debra Torres Atwood General Manager
This was a fine hotel restaurant but there are many better options near by.
First bad review on OT. Bad service, bland & cold food. Avoid this place
Mother’s Day event and going to the theater.
Cheese board, beet salad, and goat cheese flatbread were all exquisitely good. Such fine service, nice people, and great food. Thank you to the chef and staff.
Dear PJM: We appreciate your favorable comments. Thank you form all us! Debra Torres Atwood GM
Had a very nice dinner with a friend
Dear Anonymous: Thank you for choosing Atwood for a lovely dinner. We appreciate the kind review. Regards, Debra Torres Atwood General Manager
Lovely waitress, lovely atmosphere. However food was bland, under-salted and disappointing in comparison to other times dining there.
Dear AndreaK, Glad you mostly enjoyed your visit with us. I am truly sorry to hear the under seasoning. I will let Chef know. Thank you for aiding us in that. Debra Torres Atwood General manager
Went for brunch on Father’s Day. Had a nice time. Attentive server but did not rush us. Menu items were diverse and tasty.
Dear KevinH: Happy belated Fathers day sir! We are delighted to hear you enjoyed your visit with us. thank you for the kind review. Debra Torres Atwood GM
Don't offer peaches in a salad unless they're really ripe. The hard chunks I had spoiled an otherwise fine salad.
Dear Cellist: Thank you for letting us know the degree of ripeness of the peaches. We appreciate your feedback. Debra Torres Atwood General Manager
The food was incredible. Can’t wait to go back.
Dear White: Thank you for the compliment on the food. We recently released 6 new signature drinks, we hope you tried one. Stay tuned for the new Brunch menu in July. Hope to see you soon. Thank you!
We had Theater tickets to a matinee so we wanted an early lunch. I was disappointed when we got there to find we only had a choice of a few items on a late morning breakfast. Wish I'd known that from your web site
Dear PatriciaL, The hours of operation are all listed but its a long list to read as we serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, and brunch. We would be happy to get you started on a beverage while the kitchen is setting up from breakfast to lunch. Please do return and enjoy lunch with us at 11:30am next time. Kind regards, Debra Torres Atwood General Manager
Three of the five cocktails on the menu were unavailable, and many items on the (already limited) food menu were not available. Had it not been a busy Saturday night, we’d have walked out.
A very disappointing experience, indeed. We won’t be back.
Dear Anonymous: We appreciate your time and review. As it happens, we change our menus seasonally and knowing that the signature drinks were coming off the menu, they were bigger hits than expected. We have a whole new list that you may like. Please reach out to me directly if you change your mind. I would be happy to make a booking for you and meet you personally. Kind Regards, Debra Torres, Atwood General Manager
The waitress was very unprofessional and unhelpful, and the restaurant itself felt like a cheap operation in a nice designed space.
Dear Becca; Thank you for your comments for us to improve. Sometimes, servers are running at high speeds during a dinner rush and loose sight of the graceful aspect of serving. Your review is very helpful and we are thankful you pointed that out to us.
Food was not special. Service was poor. Very cute place and nice ambience.
Attentive server and bus staff. Server was knowledgeable about thw menu and offered suggestions after getting an idea of our taste preferences. Great personality and was present to our needs but not intrusive or obnoxious. Both the crab sandwich and burrata salad were excellent. Apple cinnamon tart was delightful. Coffee was delicious and made fresh for us.
VERY limited dinner menu - disappointing! Mostly sandwiches and salads - only a few items that could be could be considered dinner entrees - seems like they're either catering to tourists as a lower-cost option or are struggling financially - not the Atwood of old!
Dear CubbieBlueJean, Thank you for dining with us. You are right in that we are catering to in house hotel guests, and tourists and our locals. We do serve sandwiches and also Entrees and Specials allday such as a New York Strip, Fresh Fish, House Made Pasta, Chicken and a big Chopped Salad at dinner time. Our menus change seasonally and we hope you can make it back to try the new menu with Lamb Chops, Swordfish, for example. Thank you
Limited but powerful menu that punches well above the ‘weight’ of the menu. Chicken cassoulet was superb. Steak is often just steak but their steak with scrumptious chimmichurri roast potatoes was really yummy. Interesting wine list. Really excellent service that was attentive but not in your face or hovering
Dear Anonymous, If you liked our menu yesterday, I recommend you visit us again for the new one, its wonderful tribute is the seasonal bounty!
We had a delicious meal (I had beet salad and mussels, my husband had a wedge salad and the Atwood burger) with excellent service. Will definitely come again.
Dear SueF, We are sure glad you enjoyed that delicious meal. Today, is our new menu, with a different ingredients in the beet salad, and a different preparation for the Mussels, the Burger is a mainstay. We hope to see you all soon!
The location is great and the ambiance was nice, but the food was certainly not worth the price. The server made us feel rushed as well.
Dear SarahK, Thank you for joining us pre-theatre for your dinner. Please let us know if you are not on a time constraint, next time for the server can pace your visit with us more appropriately.
I was sorry to see the dumbing-down of what had been an elegant restaurant in the beautiful Reliance building. Wait staff in ugly T-shirts with pineapples, and a strange, small menu that mostly looked like pub food (fried chicken sandwich). We went the the Atwood for a special dinner before a theater performance, and although the food was fine, it is no longer a special restaurant. Too bad.
Dear SusanS. We have decided to approached the menu to include the weary traveler as well since we are in a hotel. You should see the new menu, which is live today, Burrata salad with heirloom tomatoes+ peaches, Grilled Swordfish with curry roasted cauliflower and mint yogurt, Lamb Chops with mint yogurt. We include the atwood burger, a huge"Chopped Salad" using Local and Seasonal foods. Should you return, may you find the food delicious and warm and friendly service.
excellent, beautiful space, delicious entree. we enjoyed our lunch
The food and service are really very good. Physically the space is uncomfortable, there didn't seem to be a table wasn't in the way of the staff. The sound level makes conversation a challenge. You may not want to hear the conversation at the next table but you will.
Dear HarrisPatron, We appreciate your visit and agree its sound are quite busy during pre theatre in the dining room. Please consider dining on the patio as its a different sound but not as loud.
Food was good limited menu though. Very small portions we sat outside which was nice.
Dear EllenD, We are glad you enjoyed dining al fresco! Just a friendly reminder that we source local and make dishes from scratch for the best flavors, and portion accordingly to not out price ourselves in the neighborhood. Check us out again when you are dining in the loop....new and exciting summer foods coming next week.
Atwood is consistently good! A great place for lunch, with some of the most personalble servers in the city. It has become my go-to place for business lunches.
Dear Anonymous, Thank you for your continued support of atwood!
Over many years, Atwood was a notable Loop spot for a power lunch or elegant dinner with an appealing menu and a bohemian vibe. Still a nice spot but more mainstream now.
Dear Grejebian, We are exercising an all day menu in an effort to avoid closing between meals. We do offer lunch and dinner specials seasonally. Summer menu is rolling out next week with delicious dishes, please check us out again!
