Menu not very extensive and food is not very good.
Overall, it was a nice pre-theater dinner!
I would do it again!
We dined on a Monday evening. First stop at the bar with a wonderful bartender who was nice to swap out a wine that I did not like for another and help my husband discover a new cocktail. We love the small and cozy space with nice seating with views of State and Washington streets from large windows. Great Chicago location. I have to eat strictly gluten free and have always had a lovely meal with Atwood. The spinach artichoke dip came with cucumber slices for me and grilled sourdough for my husband and was awesome. I am a burrata cheese fan, but did not enjoy the mortadello(sp?) that came with it (balony!). The salmon and steak were perfect and the creme brulee was great. The service by Eric was stellar. We will, of course, be back.
Lighting like the doctors office in there. Ambiance zero.

Birthday lunch for my wife at one of her favorite places
Dear Anonymous Thank you for nice 4 star posting and sharing that your wife likes Atwood enough to make it one of her favorites! Belated birthday wishes to her and hope to see you again soon. Kind regards, Debra Torres General Manager
We have chosen Atwood as our destination pre-theater restaurant. The lunch menu suits all in our party. Rocky, our host, immediately greeted us with a bright smile and noted that we were seeing Mean Girls from the reservation. He was exceedingly gracious to move us to another table that we felt was more comfortable. The BLT sandwich with the batter fried tomato received rave reviews. I had the mussels with a creamy broth that was so savory. We shared a delightful spinach and pear salad. Juan, our server accommodated our request to split an entree order and made sure to brew us a fresh pot of hot coffee at the end of our meal. Atwood has a premier location and great food. I highly recommend it.
Dear Dining Diva, Thank you! We are happy to hear that your experience with us in Atwood with to your delight. We will be sure to mention your review to Juan (server) and Rocky (host) as we all appreciate it very much. Thank you for taking the time to write about it and we hope to serve you again. Food was beautifully prepared but all of it was very sweet. Perhaps it was the combination we chose.
Will def go to Atwood again. Wait staff was spectacular. Thank you
Beautiful building Friendly staff. Delicious pork schnitzel and apple crumble
The modern architecture was pleasing to the eye. Service was great and I would definitely come back!

The restaurant is clean, sleek, and comfortable. The server was very friendly and attentive. The dishes were well prepared and delicious. Windows are large and great for watching the City. I would definitely go back.
Parisian style diner, great interior design, the food and service excellent. Great location for people watching. Will definitely go there again both for breakfast and lunch.

We went to dinner after seeing a movie at the Siskel and really enjoyed our meal at Atwood. The restaurant is casually cool with floor to ceiling windows for good people watching. Our waiter was excellent-very personable and helpful but not around too much. The chicken salad quesadilla were light and tasty plus the fried chicken sandwich was delicious—perfect for after the movie—a fun evening!
Dear RonC, Happy New Year. Thank you for joining us for a meal and part of your evening over the holiday season. We hope you will return again when you are in the Chicago Loop. Kindly, Debra Torres General Manager
I had never been there before. Brought my 19 year old granddaughter.
We loved the atmosphere... the fact that you could people watch out the large windows.Very nice.
Waiter was good no complaints. Only downside was the chopped salad I ordered was huge and way too much green stuff and not enough variety in the ingredients... it was good... just way to large..I am a foodie and a great cook... my advice ... make the salad smaller ...less green and more color in the ingredients.
Anyhow the granddaughter loved the place... and I loved the iron fretwork I could see near the elevators.
I was born and grew up in the city and rarely get to Chicago...so was fun to go to a new place. Cute spot.
No real complaints. Enjoyed our visit.

Great location for before and after shows. Live music was a plus. Food and service was mediocre.

Beautiful modern restaurant in an old hotel lobby. Great brunch eggs Benedict. Very flavorful. Great spicy Bloody Mary. Staff was kind and accommodating. Omelet was terribly bland and lacking key ingredients so perhaps there was a mix up or a moment of forgetfulness. I would go again however.
Dear Anonymous, Thank you for dining with us. Please do try us again. We look forward to serving you. Warm Regards, Debra Torres General Manager
The service was very good. Our server was pleasant and knowledgeable. A member of our party had special dietary needs and these were accommadated. My only negative, it was very noisy.
Dear Linda V. Thank you kindly for the commentary on your recent visit. We hope to serve you all again soon. Debra Torres General Manager
Hands down the best grilled cheese sandwich I have ever eaten, but the chop salad just OK. Our train was delayed and we were 15 minutes late for our reservation..
No problem, they were very understanding. Lovely table next to the window, friendly staff, but long wait for dessert. Expensive, but worth it at Christmas time for the ambience and location
Dear Dorothy V. Thank you for choosing us for your special time of the year dining downtown. We appreciate you and hope to see you again for the next holiday! Kindly, Debra Torres General Manager
I love this restaurant, but I just could not rate it above a two-star, after they asked me to leave because they needed the table. Appalling!
Dear DJMc, We are sorry to hear this happened. If you wouldn't mind emailing me directly, we would certainty like to hear more about this negative experience to find resolve. Sincerely, Debra Torres General Manager
We had the best time at Atwood. Fantastic atmosphere, food, and location. Thank you to our wonderful waiters who helped make my mother’s birthday celebration wonderful. We’ll be back!
I’ve been at Atwood for lunch and had a good experience, but this last visit was for dinner and it was not great. Our server was nice and attentive. Drinks were decent but the glasses were tiny and not worth the price. Our appetizer was good but our meals for dinner were awful. I ordered the steak, the priciest thing on the menu and it was terrible. For almost $40 I would assume I’d get a decent cut of meat and boy was I wrong. I will not be coming back here, not with the other great choices in the area.
Dear Jill L, We are sorry to hear about your displeasure of the meal. If you would like to give us another try, please contact me directly to oversee your dinner. Sincerly, Debra Torres General Manager
Very nice dinner prior to attending the theater. Service was great: attentive and friendly. Drinks great. Food was very good but for the entrees (salmon) being over-done. Not bad enough to send back, but not as on-target as one would expect from an otherwise very nice restaurant.
Good place for a business meal. Not too loud. Nice environment. Good staff. Food was just ok. My salad was a huge mound of shaved lettuce on a flat plate and got all over the table. It also had very few toppings. For ~$20 I would have expected a little more going on.
We’ve been to the Atwood many times before, dating pre-renovation. The diner decor/feel doesn’t fit the feel of the hotel and other surroundings. The food was just ok. I had the BLT which was good. The shrimp and grits my wife got were flavorless even with the spice gravy. The high prices don’t match the decor and marginal food, unfortunately. Which is sad, as it used to be one of our go-to spots when things were better.
This restaurant used to be so pretty - now it looks like a cafeteria. I had very expensive meat loaf and mashed potatoes and wish I had sent them back. They were dry and less than average. My husband had an amazing BLT sandwich. The wine and server were fine. Some good, some bad. This restaurant should do better.
We visit during the holidays often! It’s a charming restaurant and everyone is so happy and courteous!
It was my first time at this restaurant. The food was fresh and wonderful. Our server, Andre, was very attentive to our requests and the wait staffs were very professional. Definitely return to this establishment.
Service was impeccable. Server and food runners were very timely. Server described the dishes well. Had the schnitzel and it was very delicious. My guest he the chicken sandwich and fries and loved it.
Salad was $14 and just a bowl of lettuce with a few pieces of dry over cooked chicken. Limited menu only 5 options were available
Very nice experience. Service was especially good. Food and drinks were delicious.
Robert S. Thank you, we cant wait to serve you again. Cheers! Debra Torres General Manager
Customer service level terrible need to work on many factors. Manager needs to work on her management skills as well as customer service.
Dear Wesley B, I am sorry to hear that you were not met with better guest service. Please feel free to contact me directly, if you would like to offer more details about what was displeasing. Kind Regards, Debra Torres General Manager
